- I review, breakdown and explain Dark Matter episode 1 and 2. I discuss the 2024 AppleTV+ show which is based on the novel of the same name by Blake Crouch. I react to the characters such as Jason played by Joel Edgerton and Daniella played by Jennifer Connelly. I analyse the two different realities, the connection to Schrodinger's cat and what the meaning of the ending is. I also give my theories and predictions on episode 3.

What did you think of the first two episodes of Dark Matter? I'm impressed so far! I'm looking forward to seeing where the show goes! Let me know your thoughts below!
Disliked it. I do not like the production approach, and the directing. All the close shots on persons is not endearing, and nearly all the first two episodes are shot in overly dark settings (usually done so the production does not have to worry about getting scenery right.) On top of all of that, it's the usual technobabble, a take on the MWI of QM that tries to hard on the science and just gets it fundamentally wrong.
So, no characters I like, videography I don't like, and a story that seems more half-baked than well thought out.
This story is amazing. The book is soooo gooood! The show isnt doing a bad job. The first 2 episodes are only the first few chapters so .... hold on to ur britches.
very weak , uniteresting and dissapointing
Loved them! Just watched the first 4 episodes cuz I was waiting to watch them with my gf but the Bruins and Celtics had been playing every other night with the Bruins eliminated from playoffs I finally had a free night and I'm loving it!
Someone in Apple TV headquarters is obsessed with Sci-fi mystery and I’m not mad at that 💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️
It's true! Nothing wrong with that at all
So glad you’re covering this show! Just watched the first two eps and am already hooked. Have been excited for this for a while bc the Chicago house they filmed at is just down the street from us and I remember seeing all the crews filming just down the street a while back!!
That's really cool! Hope you enjoy the show and the videos!
@@BrainPilot enjoying both so far!! Thanks again and looking fwd to your future recaps!
I read the book 3 times…I can’t wait to see your reaction to what the future holds for Jason. The rabbit hole gets very deep. But I won’t spoil it for you guys. I’d been😊 waiting on this series for years.
Yeahhhhh I finished the bookthis morning 3 days in the raw and the second day I was delaying the reading did not want to finish amazing
Seems Apple TV+ Really obsessed with Schrodinger's cat theory.
Nice catch
That is so true
Is this Dark 2.0?
Oh dang I didn’t even catch that, what’s the other shows?

"there could be a third Jason" oh boy lol
I mean... based off the advertising I knew this show was going to be decent but wow. I haven't had a first episode knock my socks off like that in a long time.
Beautifully constructed. It's the type of confusing that builds curiosity rather than making you feel completely lost.
This episode starts with a slow burn and ends with a wildfire. I'm absolutely hooked just off one episode. I'm positive this will be wildly popular.
What an exciting plot twist as well. The audience is given hints before the characters which makes things a little more fun. There is still so much to learn and things to figure out but based off the first episode it's clear all the information will be laid out very well.
EPIC first episode of television.
I have just finished reading the book today . I read it in 3 days and I was delaying the end
Wow! That's fast!
Is it worth it??
I enjoyed the first two episodes and looking forward to the rest of the season but I'm worried about the confusion of concepts.
- (Name of the show) Dark matter is a mysterious, unseen substance that affects galaxies' motion.
- (Schrodinger Cat scene) Superposition is a quantum concept where particles can be in multiple states simultaneously but in the same place.
- (Central Plot) The multiverse is the idea that there might be many universes or realities beyond our own.
Worries me that it's not going to make sense when mashing up quantum concepts
Sounds like a sci-fi twist on "The Wizard of Oz." Excellent review, eagerly anticipating it.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. I think it's gonna be a good show!
I feel like I remember the fact that it was himself who kidnapped him and all that stuff was big reveal early into the book but not right away they gave it away in the trailer for the show haha
Good concept... But having watched Dark from Netflix, nothing will ever confuse me 😅😅
Nice follow on from Constellation.
Just watched the first episode - after which Apple TV's Constellation immediately came to mind. Well so far - at least -- Hmmm?
Didn't show time. Have a show similar to this a couple years back.
I listened to the book on audible during the pandemic and loved it but it was long enough ago and I smoke enough pot and it was confusing enough that I am so excited for this show and remember enough of the book to know i liked it but forgot enough too haha
Dont forget theres 3 more characters missing that went into the box with jason
No, the cat is not alive and dead at the same time. Schrodinger's thought experiment _is intended to show such an interpretation of QM is nonsense._ That's something pretty much all "sci-fi" shows get wrong.
Dude looks like a young Bryan Cranston
Pretty obvious easter eggs, that I haven't seen mentioned any where, are the nods to "It's A Wonderful Life". Besides the theme similarities, Bad Jason goes down the stairs at home, and fiddles with the loose bannister knob... Family Guy Jason goes to his usual bar, and his buddy bartender has no idea who he his / kicks him out. Though it doesn't look like things will resolve as smoothly for this George Bailey :(
I saw the trailer. It was interesting, I obviously won't watch the video, since I haven't watched it! I wanted to ask, is it worth watching? I love sci-fi mystery shows and movies, I am big fan of Black Mirror, Severance, and Mr Robot, just wanted to make sure wether it's worth viewing!
After two episodes I think it's definitely worth giving it a watch!
@@BrainPilot Thank you so much! Definitely gonna check it out! I love your content, too! Keep up the good work, you're one of the best channels I've seen related to analyzing films and shows!
Thank you! That means a lot!
Plz read the book!
Is it mini series or possible multi season series?
Doesn't say it's a mini series so I think there's potential for multiple seasons
killing Daniel was completely stupid
The book was really good but kinda dragged towards the end. Hopefully they don’t drag the show on too..
It's not a limited series so there might be a few seasons to it
Would you eat a baby goat or a matter baby
