I wash and condition once a week, detangle, and braid it into 4 braids. I take it down after 5 days and wear it down for two days before rebraiding it on wash day. I also let her know that products don’t make your hair grow. It’s having a consistent routine that helps you grow healthy hair. I also showed her natural hair RUclipsrs I follow on RUclips which helped me learn how to take care of my hair. She told me it’s “ too much work “. Your channel needs to go viral You’re literally a gem in the natural hair community and for the black community in general (especially for black women)
So true!! Recently I did boho twists and even the curly hair I mixed in feels too disingenuous to me 😂 I ordered more afro textured hair to combine it with, because I do feel like its not expressing my beauty the way I want it to. I still have my old wigs and will occasionally slap one on my head but I definitely realized that it’s more work to deal with wigs than it is to deal with my hair. The glue???? The spray?? The headbands?? Lol ya, no. I love my hair so much, theres so many things we can do with it, we are really blessed.
Im Nigerian and i started growing my hair out about 3 years ago. Currently my hair is 10 inches long. My hair has always been natural. Though i was blessed with full hair😅 Even at 4-5 inches long i was getting compliments left and right about my hair. Currently my hair is at 10 inches shoulder length. Its not only in the western countries alone. Even here in Nigeria, the non textured weave industry has completely made us forget about the beauty of our own hair. A lot of women end up resorting to relaxing their hair to make it "easier to deal with". The highest epitome of hair beauty here is if you have the money to buy a wig. Its freaking nuts. I agree, i was blessed with very soft hair, so i can go weeks and even months without putting it in a protective style as long as I care for it diligently. By the way, I've never worn a wig. Never liked them and never had the need for them😂 Thanks for the video💙
I especially love the point about weaves and wigs being high maintenance. It clicked for me a few years ago, i realised i was spending so much time trying to make my wig look real instead of just investing in my hair. I feel free and confident with my natural beauty. I walk proud with my natural hair and even shaved my hair off last year just because. Fortunately I've had more positive experience with people regarding my hair because of its thickness. I have enough hair for three people 😅 it's a lot. Thickness plays a part in how natural hair is received regardless of length i can attest to this.
Okayyyyy sis your first paragraph is what I’ve always said about weaves and wigs like I’m spending all this time to make it “ look natural” and it’s like why not spend this time working with the hair that’s on my head, it won’t look real because it’s not simply put. Not gonna like at times I will get braids but I don’t even want that anymore too frequently, but to each is own.
I have been natural for 10 years. I receive so many compliments on my hair daily from all people and races. I embrace my crown and I feel absolutely queenly with my natural 10 inch afro!
Listen you did NOT have to read me for absolute filth like this !!!! 😩 I am going to get it together! This video needs to go triple viral!!!!!!! Thank you for this 🙌🏾
You are right, I was born in a rural area in Congo, and nobody ever wore wigs. We never cared about products to grow our hair because we knew hair grew by itself. I remember the first time I saw women with wings on their heads, and it was disgusting. It never matches their skin colour and bodies. I never knew people hated their hair texture until I moved abroad two years ago. That's when I started using my own phone, and every time I opened RUclips, there were always videos about loving your hair and taking care of it. I was surprised by that until I learned about the story behind black people in the US, but then I remembered that they were free now and they didn't need to use chemicals or buy wings. I love to wear my afro, and I am just 17, I wish many black women and men loved their own hair.
I'm so glad I found your channel. I've been wearing crochet braids for the last few years without giving my hair a rest. And my edges are paying the price. I plan to take my braids out this month and start wearing my natural 4c hair out. My boyfriend is excited to see me rock my mini fro, which gives me additional encouragement to love & accept the way my hair grows.
That’s true, it is a spiritual battle we are in. We have to fight to reprogram ourselves to be the highest version of ourselves We all have people paying attention to our lives
When I was younger, my own family used to make fun of my hair, which made me hate hair, and I used to pray to have long straight hair. know I had enough of hate my hair I want to enhance and loved it
I’ve been natural for 3 years now and never felt more confident, authentic and beautiful in my own skin❤ I admire your video topics and your wit. I wish you lots of success with your RUclips channel, I hope you will get more exposure so we can slowly eradicate this natural hair issue within our communities
So many women compliment my natural hair and I always let them know they can be natural too. Almost always the response “i can’t” and immediately compare their hair to mine😕. I started handing out my hair stylist card (she is a ceremonial hair stylist gifted to style all curls, coils and kinks💕). I have always been natural but handing out the card and giving a lot of encouragement is what I noticed has been most positively effective. People want a miracle product or service and there is no such thing. But I can send you to someone who has good energy and will encourage you to love on your hair. Ladies, your natural hair is BEAUTIFUL. All you need is a good haircut, IDK if it’s a twa, a good haircut is a basis for a great shape and I believe that will help you love your hair even more! I always compliment the natural ladies I see. The world is waiting to compliment your God-given hair❤ And thank you for standing up for the poor Women of Color around the world who are taken advantage of. They are such an “invisible” victim💔
The self hating mothers don't just perpetuate damage onto their daughters but to their sons as well who will go on to bully black women who don't put on another race's hair styles. I think every black man who has something negative to say about a black woman's natural hair has never seen their mother's real hair (or if they didn't have a mother then the same applies to whatever female caretakers/influences they had around)
@@BumbleBee-Cityoh boo who, the mother is the first teacher and most of the time the only teacher in the black community. y’all act like BM are the only anti-black ppl when both BW and BM have anti-black tendencies
Exactly!!! Im tired of the wig/lace front excuses. I used to wear wigs when it was the norm to not glue it. At most, we used got2b glue so it was easy to take off and wear my natural hair. But once it started to become a more “permanent” thing with stronger glue, I tried and it burned me and took my edges in like 3 days. That was the last time. I’ve been natural for over 10 years and wear it 99% of the time. I get most of my compliments and privilege when I’m wearing my natural hair from all races and genders. Im at the point where I feel ugly when my hair isn’t out in some form 😂😂 I hate that when I get on social media or go outside, I don’t see more people that “look like me”. & it’s not like my hair is a unique feature. I have type 4 hair so most black people grow this from their scalp and choose not to wear it. Its like why is it so easy for them to give me hair compliments but they aren’t confident to wear their own??
I an gravitating to doing more stretched out styles (doing braid outs, twist outs, flexi/perm-rods, etc on blown out hair rather than wet hair) whenever I feel like it. I love my curls but the tangles???😭
The same reason you weren’t before you got burned with the glue. Hopefully they’ll realize their own hair is beautiful before irreversible damage happens
@@Sparkle-ey7iw oh no. Ive been confident wearing my natural hair since i big chopped. I went natural in 7th grade. I cut my hair (taper cut) at the end of high school. I wore wigs until the sides of my hair grew out long enough to where the unevenness could be hidden better. That was only for like a year. I wanted to wear my hair out so bad during that time. Then, human hair quality started to get so bad so it wasnt even worth the money to buy it
❤️❤️❤️ Started wearing my natural hair in bantu knots daily and i freakin LUV it! Its so quick and easy. I love how i look (hot af) and feel. Plus makes it way easier to work out daily. I look so unique and hot. Def gonna switch between this and mini twist for my daily look from now on 🫶🏾🫶🏾

Amazing. I love this video and it’s very well put together but, just a suggestion, maybe try including more photos/references of black women with short afros or TWA as most people like to call it. Just being realistic, but most black women who frequent wigs/weaves often ignore and neglect their real hair, like how you spoke in this video. Thus, causing their hair to maybe not be the longest and thats okay. Small afros are cute and exhilarate so much confidence on a person. I think its extremely important to show lots of examples of this and give options and advice on how to wear afros of that size, especially when the unhealthy obsession with length is so extreme within the natural hair community (or just the black hair community in general). Suggestions like braid-outs, twist-outs, stretching the hair overall is good at times but honestly supports that unhealthy obsession. Learning to embrace shrinkage and promote wearing styles that don’t require stretching, or just wearing a shrunken afro can be so beneficial and destroys the unhealthy obsession with length!
I subscribed because you are telling the truth!! I applaud you for taking off the sugar coating. We are so uniquely beautiful, but we aren't told that, nor do we see enough of it in mainstream media!
I totally concur, but just stay in my lane because speaking up and out about the beauty of our hair just gets met with such vitriol. I have gone to the gym consistently since my late teens and the amount of work the straight-haired do would blow their minds. The amount of hair flips, spraying, and frying would shock many naturals. Additionally, many of the hair bundles are loaded with harmful chemicals on top of the women being exploited.
Black Women with Natural Hair are beautiful! That’s your God given hair, embrace it! Mashallah ❤️✊🏾 The fact that you’re making these types of videos as well is awesome and making people wake up. This video needs to be spreaded all over and deserves a lot more views Ukhti.
Yessss, I wish someone would explain this to my mother! If I don’t want to wear a weave or a wig for pictures, then that’s my choice. I love my afro and my natural hair. My hair is so super thick that I get told people wish they had this type of thickness. It's not for the weak! Especially since I cut it down, it forms its own curls and everything. Most of the time, though, I just like it combed out.
Yasssss 👏🏽 this video is everything! I’m 34 and have been natural for 1 year and I absolutely LOVE IT! It’s been a beautiful journey to see my natural beauty. I’m exactly the way God created me ❤no mistakes whatsoever.
I love when you make these videos. I’ve been thinking about getting rid of my wigs completely. On a regular basis I wear my hair in mini twists and braids because where I live is super humid, but when I wanna change it up I do twist outs. Our hair is so beautiful and I wish more women could tap into that and learn to love themselves. p.s. I have the same hair texture as you 😁
One time on fb, I saw a short clip of a movie, talking about our hair texture. The teacher is white and has straight hair so she told the child to make her hair "neat" just for picture day. I was like no. We could style our hair neat with our natural curls, there are different ways not just blatantly straighten the hair. Our hair is sensitive to heat and it breaks easily. I love to see girls with natural hair whether short or long it is better than for them to cover their beautiful mane all in the name of 'Insecurity.'
Our hair isn’t necessarily sensitive to heat. It’s how the heat is used. Some naturals were able to retain more length by wearing natural blow dry only styles or flat ironing at lower temperatures. It prevents breaking from single strand knots
I stopped adding hair to my head to extend my hair a few months ago. It was definitely a HUGE thing for me, but I was so fed up with feeling like I needed to add hair to my head to appear feminine. I was never taught how to take care of my hair or do my own hair, but I started watching a TON of natural hair videos. Then I decided that I would start with mini twists since they are simple and easy (they do take a ton of time though) and my hair can easily remoisturized until my next wash day. The first time SUCKED, it was bad. The second time, ok ok we doing something now. And the third time I feel that I have a handle on it now. Ever since, I've realized that I'm getting more attention from the people around me. People stop and stare. It could also be that my face is more on the androgenous side, so maybe they are confused about my gender? 😭 Regardless, I went to my brother's graduation the other day, and this one guy couldn't keep his eyes off of me 😂 I went to the store today and a lady stopped and told me that she really liked my hair. THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. It really gave me confidence to keep going. If anyone is interested, I do get major shrinkage. My hair in a wet stretched state reaches the crease between my breasts / mid armpit length, but my hair shrinks all the way to my ears and further depending on where the hair is on my head. And I wear it JUST LIKE THAT. My hair is shiny and beautiful and HEALTHY. I do wish it didn't shrink that much, but it what it is. Right now my goal is length retention so I'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!
I decided to take a small break from braided extensions cus I wanted to let my hair breathe for a bit and honestly I look way better like this. I put my natural hair in mini twists and istg it suits my face much more than extensions I usually get, although I'm gonna put them in one last time because my mum already bought them for me and they ain't cheap but this is probably the last time I'll ever wear them since I'm going to loc my hair up this summer hopefully 🩷
I would love to do mini but my haire are very very very fine 😭, always in a bun, my tired my hairline too. I need to find a hairstyle "gently on the hairline"
@@JaneDoane Mini twists are actually one of the styles recommended for those with similar issues due to its low tension nature. Have you had a different experience?

This might sound stupid, but watching Cyber Chase as a kid made me fall in love with natural hair. (There’s a woman with natural hair; she’s a real person and not a cartoon, and pops in a lot of episodes.) I didn’t know my hair could also look like that because my mom always permed our hair and didn’t know how to do her own natural hair nd said it was too difficult. She didn’t let me go natural because she said it was too much work, but now that I’m an adult, I’m learning little by little how to care for and fully love my natural hair, and it’s honestly so freeing. There’s so much propaganda I didn’t even realize I’d absorbed until going through my natural hair journey.

@@M-wi5twLet’s Stop referring to God as He/Him/His. Let’s Start there. We were made in HER image. The creator. If we’re going to believe in a singular God, we can at least use logic. Until the male species can give birth, I think it’s safe to consider our creator as a feminine energy.❤
As a new mom, I am doing my very best to love myself so my daugther doesn't ever feel dependent on someone elses texture to feel beautiful. Thank you for these video Tatiana! They are such a huge help 💖
You’re absolutely right, natural hair IS my pretty privilege ❤
This is wisdom in an age of ignorance for sure. Keep speaking your truth friend.
Your channel needs to go viral
You’re literally a gem in the natural hair community and for the black community in general (especially for black women)
Yes! Our hair is the most versatile hair on the planet! Afro, braids, locks, flat iron it.... etc.
Any time you upload, it’s a good day❤
I like your comment ❤❤❤❤
Is that you in your profile pic? If it is you have beautiful hair 🩷
Exactly omg!!
That's sweet
Yes, thank you for this video. ❤️ I agree that hair carries energy. Not only is our hair easy to manage, but it saves us a lot more money.

Awe, Glad I can help
That’s true, it is a spiritual battle we are in. We have to fight to reprogram ourselves to be the highest version of ourselves
We all have people paying attention to our lives
When I was younger, my own family used to make fun of my hair, which made me hate hair, and I used to pray to have long straight hair. know I had enough of hate my hair I want to enhance and loved it
This is unrelated but I need a tutorial on that hair style in the beginning of the video
I’ve been natural for 3 years now and never felt more confident, authentic and beautiful in my own skin❤ I admire your video topics and your wit. I wish you lots of success with your RUclips channel, I hope you will get more exposure so we can slowly eradicate this natural hair issue within our communities
Thanks for your support
The world is waiting to compliment your God-given hair❤
And thank you for standing up for the poor Women of Color around the world who are taken advantage of.
Please dont blame black women for others self hatred
.
Agreed!
@@BumbleBee-Cityoh boo who, the mother is the first teacher and most of the time the only teacher in the black community. y’all act like BM are the only anti-black ppl when both BW and BM have anti-black tendencies
You are so precious for fighting this battle, keep teaching and preaching 💕🙏🏽
I love your page especially as a christian loving and embracing the crown God gave me for 3 years now🎉😀😀🙏🏾🙏🏾🔥🔥
As a woman with locs I struggle with this everyday. Thank you.
I am getting ready to start my loc journey. I have great anticipation and I already know that I will feel even more liberated and confident!
Then, human hair quality started to get so bad so it wasnt even worth the money to buy it
If I could give this a million thumbs up, I would. Thank you sis.
❤️❤️❤️
Started wearing my natural hair in bantu knots daily and i freakin LUV it! Its so quick and easy.
I love how i look (hot af) and feel. Plus makes it way easier to work out daily.
I look so unique and hot. Def gonna switch between this and mini twist for my daily look from now on 🫶🏾🫶🏾
i like putting braids/twists in bantu knots and then having curly braids the next day :>

@@Mdmeskywlkr007Advise me .i genuinely dont look good in natural hair .my mini twists arent pretty, I dont look good in an Afro and look mid in a ponytail .All these YT hairstyles dont suit my fave shape .Idk what to do and no I do t wear wigs
Preach, it girl!!! There's nothing wrong with our natural hair. Our hair was made in God's image, not the colonizers image.
I subscribed because you are telling the truth!! I applaud you for taking off the sugar coating. We are so uniquely beautiful, but we aren't told that, nor do we see enough of it in mainstream media!
The video I've been looking for!, and what the natural community needs to hear.
Haven't wore a wig since I found you thank you 🙏🏾 💕

Your content is so so important. Thank you 💗💗💗
You're so welcome!
Preach girl! You are doing the Lord's work. Keep talking - you are making a difference.
Please you guys, listen to her. If we start thinking like her then we will change the world for the better.
I ALWAYS stare at afros, but im too shy to wear mine. Its such a unique hairstyle
It takes me 5 minutes or less to do my hair other than the day of wash day it’s WAY TO EASY
Ooh, you and coilette should do a collab. Some great points made here, especially about the human hair. 👏🏼
Black Women with Natural Hair are beautiful! That’s your God given hair, embrace it! Mashallah ❤️✊🏾 The fact that you’re making these types of videos as well is awesome and making people wake up. This video needs to be spreaded all over and deserves a lot more views Ukhti.
your videos are the deprogramming WE NEED
The truth many people don’t want to hear 😔 great video and very informative
People take time to learn how to maintain and take care of weave but don't want to put in the same effort for their natural hair.
I love when you make these videos. I’ve been thinking about getting rid of my wigs completely. On a regular basis I wear my hair in mini twists and braids because where I live is super humid, but when I wanna change it up I do twist outs. Our hair is so beautiful and I wish more women could tap into that and learn to love themselves. p.s. I have the same hair texture as you 😁
Yess girl!!! Mini twist for the win!

Regardless,
I went to my brother's graduation the other day, and this one guy couldn't keep his eyes off of me 😂
I went to the store today and a lady stopped and told me that she really liked my hair.
Wish me luck!
wishing you the best and thanks for sharing
A good message
I really appreciate this video. Your hair is gorgeous
Exactly!
You have a gift of speaking life into people. ❤❤❤
