The reason why they don’t let you buy an ebook on the app is due to Apple and Google taking a 30% cut of all digital purchases in app. If they didn’t direct you to the website, ebooks would be 30% more expensive.
Since Amazon owns Kindle, they can do direct purchases of books without the 30% tax.
Or Amazon would just make less profit. They wouldn't HAVE to put those extra costs onto the consumer. They would CHOOSE to.
@@theoblongbox4909 that is the same profit Amazon makes from self published books and higher than what it takes from professionally published ones. That would mean Amazon would further cut into the publisher’ and authors’ profit margins if they chose not to raise prices.

I feel like the people who say they can just read on their tablet or phone have never tried a Kindle. I love my Kindle. Reading on a tablet or phone gives me headaches, has distractions, and keeps me awake. Reading on a Kindle is 1000x better!

or they are people who built their library day 1 in apple books like me steve jobs got on stage showed off iBooks (now called apple books) and ever sence ive bought my 225 books from apple books app as one can only read their apple books on iphone ipad and macs so where you read depends on where your ebook library resides. a kindle is only good for those who have a large library of purchased books from amazons kindle store!!!
Having a device that didn't have blue light was the #1 selling point for me getting a kindle! also reading outside and having that antiglare screen is huge!!
I have a $120 Lenovo tablet that has built in app to reduce blue light. I use the Kindle app on it which does more than the Kindle.
I kind of want a Kindle, but I don't like that it's only black and white. That's one annoying thing about e-readers for me. A lot of the physical books that I read are very colorful and not just all text, so I enjoy the colors. That's really the main thing that keeps me away from Kindle still.
Same. I'm still getting a kindle though but I guess I'll look at colorful pics on my phone if I really want to see them in color
Kobo has just come out with 2 color ereaders. I have the kobo Clara colour and I really love it.

I love that stats too and hope that someday they add them to the kindle os. I have a kindle paper white. I can’t live without it, if it breaks I’m buying a new one instantly. Before I bought my kindle I rarely read. Since I got it I read a book per month. I don’t plan on buying a new one until they come out with one with color e-ink. My two cons of the app vs the device is the black and white library and lack of the stats on the device.
I use my iPad Pro to read all my books I just put on a focus mode that cuts out all the notifications from distracting me from reading
my ipad is the 12.9 inch pro so it’s LITERALLY MASSIVE and heavy compared to my kindle but if i didn’t have a kindle first i probs wouldn’t have gotten a kindle you know

Appreciate your comparison....and where I did purchase my Kindle Paperwhite Signature last week, it's currently on sale for $55 less...so, I'm returning it. There are reasons I do like it, but many more that I don't. My main gripe is it's hard to return to a home screen, when I'm reading a book. I've learned how to drop down one screen which only gives me the brightness control, but the main screen that brings me back to home shouldn't be that hard to initiate. Nonetheless, I have initiated a return on my Kindle Signature which I paid full price for along with the cover I chose and will take advantage of the new sale or not...simply because....my intent to hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I can read a book on my amazing 512gb S22 Ultra if I choose or even have any energy by the end of the day!

you should get a kindle paperwhite there great. long battery, portable, font size change, dictionary look up, built in light that does not hurt your eyes because its front light not backlight, you can take it outside.
No one will understand a Kindle until they use it

I am languages and interested in purchasing a kindle to get my language books. My kindle app is nice, but you are correct I cannot purchase certain languages books on the app. I understand both pros and cons. Great explanation.

I just got my kindle today(so excited) My pages from the kindle app didn’t sync to the kindle so it looks like I haven’t started the book? Am I missing a step?
check to make sure you’re signed into the same account on both and then if you are, you can click on the three dots in the corner and click “sync to furthest read page”
Can we sync the kindle app with our kindle tho? Bc i wouldn’t want to buy the book again when i have a kindle
yes it syncs! it’s connected to your amazon account so as long as you’re signed in on the same account your purchased it will be in your library! it also syncs your place in the book so if you want to read but left your kindle at home your app will pick back up where you left off and vice bersa
Does the Kindle device allow for a download of like Libby? Or do I have to use Libby on my phone and send to my kindle?
you have to get from your phone and it sends to your kind when you “checkout” the book like on the libby app to the kindle app!
İ buy all my books from the Kindle app from the phone because it is quicker than the Kindle, might be something to do with your country. I'm surprised to hear that

I loooove the battery life of my kindle. I charged it once, read all day, left on the couch for a week, and still plenty of charge. The battery life lasts longer than any of my electronics 😂
i just upgraded mine to the newest version and the battery life is even more amazing than the other one!!
Kindle pw 7th gen tried updating to.latest firmware, reset still freezes with 1.5gb free space of 4 gb.. best alternative ipad Kindle app or any tablet , coloured highlighter and faster upload of books and page turns...
i think it really comes down to preference and what you’re looking for in a device! i personally prefer to read on my kindle! any device several generations behind the most recent one is likely to lag, including an ipad

yes! they sync through your amazon account!
Forgot to mention...you commented how your app on you tablet allowed you to quantify the amount of time you spent reading on your Kindle app...but, the Kindle itself doesn't pay any attention to that. Maybe it's too simple to quanitfy?
