I love the friend that Ben Affleck's character is to Will. It's one of the best scenes ever. That is a rare friend that loves you so much that he wants the best for you and doesn't have any regard for himself. Most guys would probably do the opposite or be jealous. What a great guy! .

The Matt/Robin relationship in this movie was magical. This movie may be billed as a drama, but it's one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever seen. Love isn't about giving the most expensive gifts, it's about giving the most vulnerable part of yourself. For all the theories and equations Will mastered, he still had to be taught the basics of love. Anyone who didn't cry while watching that "It's not your fault" scene isn't human. Wonderful reaction, J! 🙂

Will hurts anyone that gets too close to him. He told Skyler he didn't lover her to hurt her. She was in so much pain she folded over like she was punched in the stomach. He hurt the professor by burning a formula he couldn't do that had a lot of value for him. He wanted to Hurt Sean when he told him it wasn't his fault but couldn't. That's why he said "not you Sean." Will had a fist ready for him but couldn't bring himself to hit Sean the only person that cared enough about him to save him from himself. The reason why Sean told Will it wasn't his fault was because he learned Will was repeating the cycle when it was revealed he broke up with Skyler. Sean had to intervene knowing Will would lash out at him. I like this movie as well. You have a nice channel.

Coming from abuse and trauma, with no guidance or counseling, can make one think that they are not good enough for normalcy or love. It forever warps one's mind. Creates a black hole inside of them. He doesn't want to push her away, but he doesn't want to bring her into his mess, because he doesn't even know what is wrong with him. A quote from another movie tells it perfectly: "We only accept the love we think we deserve."

If you think everyone is going to leave you or hurt you then you make sure you do it to them first. You can see that Will struggles to accept that Sean isn't telling him something empty when he says it wasn't Will's fault. In the end, Will was a scared, hurt child in the body of a 20 year old.

    "Do you like apples?"
    "Yeah."
"Well, I got her number. How do you like them apples?"
Fun Fact: The lines in the scene when Sean talks about his late wife's farting antics were ad-libbed by Robin Williams. That is why Matt Damon was laughing so hard. If you watch the scene carefully, you can notice the camera shaking a bit, possibly due to the cameraman laughing as well.
Five Year Dream Fact: The very first day of the shooting, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck started crying out of happiness, because it was a scene between Robin Williams and Stellan Skarsgård, accomplished actors, doing Damon's and Affleck's scene verbatim, and they had waited so long (five years) for this to happen.
MIT Connection Fact: Matt Damon, a former Harvard student, originally intended to make the title character a physics prodigy. He discussed his idea with Sheldon L. Glashow, a Nobel laureate in physics and, at the time, a Harvard professor. Glashow told him that the premise did not ring true to him: he suggested that the main character be a math prodigy instead. He referred Damon to his brother-in-law, Daniel Kleitman, a professor of mathematics at MIT, who provided advice on the story. Both Glashow and Kleitman are thanked in the credits.

He feels now that if anyone he loves or cares for him gets close to him will eventually hurt him. It’s abandonment issues, for people who have been hurt that bad when they were young it takes time for them to trust. So again will is not dumb

Knowing what we know about the internal pain that Robin Williams was dealing with, you can see it in his eyes even in this movie. He was hurting on the inside. I've been there. Hell, I'm still there. It's just that good-hearted people who are hurting on the inside don't like to talk about it, because we don't want to burden anyone else with our pain and sadness. We'd rather suffer than to take the chance at making someone else feel the way we do.

Yo this video reminded me how much I loved this movie. I really wonder how long it took Ben and Matt to write this because it was so good and so original. Ironically robin williams was suffering from mental health issues for years and eventually committed suicide which is so sad and tragic but it made me realize no matter what material things you have or success you have achieve and how people may view you, the fact is no one truly knows what someone else may be going through. SMH. I never met that man but I can honestly say that the news of his death made me sad. He was so talented and seemed like such a great person. He brought me and so many others so much joy but for whatever reason he was going through some real serious issues. I mean the man accomplished so much in life and had a family and kids but regardless of all that he was dealing with deep depression so bad he wanted to end his own life. The irony is he portrayed an amazing therapist in this but even after that and all his accolades he still was so down he didn’t want to live. So sad indeed. I been struggling my entire life but never felt it was bad enough to do that. This dude was a millionaire celebrity and felt he couldn’t go on. That is so astounding to me but I don’t judge because mental health is real and money can’t buy happiness. History has shown that time and time again. I ponder that as I wonder how I’m going pay my carnote next week and have a history of living check to check. I always assumed life would be great if I didn’t have to worry about finances. Damn this was a long ass comment!

I met Mr Williams several times in my first career- I was not in Hollywood but ancillary support to filming on locations, nobody important or special in title -
He was always extremely pleasant and would sit at the craft tables with regular folk- not holed up in his trailer-
He was almost always “on” though-
Always jumping from little skit or funny story, joke..
He just , to me, loved seeing people happy
I watched “What Dreams May Cone”- and while I don’t recommend it because it’s extremely powerful emotionally especially considering how he left us and the movie subject matter,
It will absolutely make one really consider things and is beautifully filmed

2:08 Kinda ironically funny that Matt Damon's name is over Ben Affleck, and Ben Affleck's name is over Matt Damon in that intro credit scene.

You should watch some dog themed movies. My choices would be Turner and Hooch (when Tom Hanks was still best known for his comedy), White Fang, and Old Yeller.
Edit: I meant the new Call of the Wild movie, not White Fang.

One of my top five for sure. Anyone who doesn't shed a tear at the "It's not your fault" scene or the scene where he tells Minnie Driver he doesn't love her is a straight-up psychopath. Great reaction! Tell Siri not to interrupt you in the future when you are laying down the truth! lol.

    "That's disrespect." - JL
In fairness, JL, that's just how they roll in Boston. Most of the time they don't mean anything by it. XD It's an Irish culture thing.

Right before this, Minnie Driver was in Grosse Pointe Blank, with John Cusack. You should check that movie out some day. Funny stuff.

I never see anyone point this out, but Robin Williams' conversation to Matt Damon at 20:55 sounds much like Matt Damon's conversation to the guy in the bar at 8:36.
Matt confronted the guy about basically quoting from various books and not having any thoughts of his own, and likewise Robin confronts Matt about how he'd probably quote things from a book instead of giving his own thoughts or experiences.. So Matt seemingly was a hypocrite in that bar scene.
(I can't remember their movie character names.. I'm bad at remembering names.)

The scene Robin Williams tells the fart story, was off script and completely adlibbed by Robin Williams. And Matt Damon's reaction was completely genuine. It just goes to show the greatness of the late great Robin Williams. And I have a couple of under the radar Robin Williams movies you should react. They're both early 80's classics that I think you'll really enjoy...
1: The World According To Garp
2: Survivors (Also starring Walter Matthau)

The younger guy in the crew is Casey Affleck and the Red head guy, is been in tons of movies. A bit crazy. In Yellowstone now, and was in, The Family that Preys. His dad was a fantastic actor, but had a serious crazy issue, reputation. Strangely in this movie, Ben is actually a pretty smart guy himself, if u listen to the Sandwich scene, and his negotiating with the office guys. All he needed was a hookup, to an education or higher job.

During the scene where Robin Williams is talking about his wife farting in her sleep you can see the camera shake. This was because the cameraman was trying his best not to laugh and almost lost it.
