IF you truly enjoy Robin, in serious...yet funny roles I suggest you watch Patch Adams. If you want more serious roles, What Dreams May Come is another good one.
The story about his wife farting was improvised by Robin, Matt's laughing was genuine and if you look closely you can see the camera operator shaking too. Robin also improvised the very last line of the movie. Scary when you realise that Matt & Ben wrote this classic when they were only 22 and when his performance was recognised by the Academy, Robin referenced their age during his acceptance words. The whole speech is one of the best Oscar moments ever, you can feel the love in the room for Robin, especially from the host Billy Crystal, his old friend from the very early days of trying to make it in showbiz. Wonderful. Do try and find the time to do a search on YT and watch. ❤

I would suggest the movie Return to Me, which stars Minnie Diver (the girlfriend in this). It is a very moving and funny and endearing movie on another serious and hard subject. It was a sleeper and was never big in the theatres but is really so well done and well regarded by those who see it. It is one of my favorite movies and given all the movies I have seen you react to, I think you will love it.
Their buddy, tall with strawberry hair, also played in Dazed and Confused, and is currently playing Rip on the current series “Yellowstone”, yes, the big, tall, cowboy with darker hair, who runs the ranch.
You're correct, James - it is Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård that you were thinking of from The Hunt for Red October (he was Captain Tupolev in that one, and Professor Lambeau in this one). I believe that "Skarsh-gord," emphasis on the first syllable, is the correct pronunciation of his name.

Now that you've been introduced to Matt Damon, you need to watch The Martian. And, of course, the Bourne movies!! --- Oh man, do you have some good stuff coming your way!
Robin's line of "stole my line" bit was a complete improv that they kept in the movie.... Another dramatic movie that Robin was in that is much lesser know is "The World According to Garp" Definitely a good watch to check out
That movie was on tv when I was a kid, and I remember watching the whole thing assuming it was a comedy, since Robin Williams was in it. It actually had quite an impact on me, in that it taught me how to enter situations without expectations thus rarely being let down by others.
NOBODY reacts to that, but it's on the top of my list of Robin's films. Only knowing him from Mork & Mindy and Popeye, it was amazing to see him do a dramatic.. now no everyone knows he was a good dramatic actor, but back then it was a gamble for him.
Minnie Driver, the girlfriend, plays in one of my favorite films, Grosse Pointe Blank. 1997, hitman, action, violence, comedy, love story. Great 80s soundtrack. I BEG you to react to that one.
James you have me crying! Thank you for your own authenticity and vulnerability. I have been in social services for 20 years and have been brought to my knees in tears many times. However, God is good! Thanks for watching and sharing this great movie.
I remember you mentioning that you've watched Disney movies because of your kids and I wanted to point out that Robin Williams voiced the Genie in Aladdin, so that would be another film that has him in it that you can add to your list of films you've seen with Robin Williams
I was at Disneyland, and they had a giant animated show over the water.... and out of nowhere this voice of Robin Genie Aladdin says "HEELLLLOOOOOO" and I literally burst into tears. I miss him so much. He was a local bay area native, and so was I.
Everything I've seen with Affleck & Damon I've enjoyed. I see there are plenty of recommendations in the comments. ~~My fav Robin Wms movie is The Fisher King. Amazing performances by all.
A minor detail: The professor said it took 2 years to *prove*, which is not the same as *solve*. Proving would be that they showed there are no other solutions outside the set of solutions they solved. This is that theoretical mathematics stuff engineers like myself hate, because it has no apparent use and a machine works regardless of the infinite amount of possibilities that say it doesn't in some parallel universe.
Enjoyed your reaction to this excellent movie, James. A few suggestions: Matt Damon - The Martian Minnie Driver - Return To Me Robin Williams - House Of D ...and yes, Stellan Skarsgard was in Hunt For Red October... he played the captain of the Russian attack sub that was trying to destroy the Red October. He was also in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (the remake with Daniel Craig). Some heavy subject matter, but a good movie. Rooney Mara was excellent in it (nominated for Best Actress).
Fun fact about Rooney Mara, her mother's side of the family is the same Rooney's that founded the Pittsburgh Steelers and her father's side is the Maras that founded the new York Giants.
I know you say you only do movie reactions from your patreon but if you want to do a great Robin Williams film react to "What Dreams May Come" get the tissue
I have a couple classic Robin Williams, that I highly recommend you should react to. The first is "The World According Garp" it's such a great movie, that I'm always amazed that it's hardly ever mentioned as one of his best. And the other is "Survivors" which also stars besides Robin Williams, the legendary Walter Matthau. I'm not going to say much more about them, accept I really do believe that you'll love both of them.
Matt Damon [Will Hunting] and Ben Affleck [friend who wanted him to leave] are on top of the credits because they wrote the film - this was their breakout film.
This has been one of my favorite films since I first saw it years and years ago. I find the dynamic between Will and Sean being so shocking. It's essentially a person trying to balance their youthful energy and passion with their wisdom and calming of age.
This movie was also written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Really enjoyed it. You should also watch Patch Adams. Its a great mix of serious Robin Williams and that goofy type of comedy character that was a perfect role for Robin Williams. Another favorite Robin Williams is good morning vietnam. Its like certain roles were made for him
NOBODY could transition from funny to serious better and more believable than Robin Williams. I miss him so much. Great reaction, James, I imagine you had your work cut out for you with the editing with all the raw language! Oh, you have seen Matt Damon before, he played Private Ryan a few months after this movie!
Glad you enjoyed it and yes lots of editing. Apparently I've seen him twice actually. I saw him in SPR and interstellar. I swear, I'm going to have to start having some type of fancy XL matrix to keep track of what actors and where I've seen them and all that stuff.
Matt Damon has been in a lot of different type of roles. Mostly action/adventure though. However, he is a multi-faceted character, with capabilities much like Robin Williams to do both drama and comedy.
Matt is the blonde guy and he has been in so many movies including The Martian, The Departed, Jason Bourne, Talented Mr. Ripley, the Informant, Oceans 11, Dogma, Ford vs Ferrari, and Beyond the Candelabra
Ben is the friend and he is a really great director and actor. He was in one of the Batmans, Gone Girl, Pearl Harbor, Hollywoodland, Armageddon- and he directed The Town, Gone Baby Gone, and Argo which I think won Best Picture. I definitely recommend Argo
One of the best written screenplays of all time. Beats Casablanca and that's considered the best. I would say Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind is up there too.
Not one opinion mentioned. Pure corporate information. What exactly is your point? That’s it’s good? Just say that then. You are literally telling us that Hollywood awarded Hollywood. I’m curious why.
You have already watched 3 of Robin's best, but, if you want more serious rolls, 'Awakenings' (1990) and 'Patch Adams' (1998) are both excellent choices and the characters he plays are based on real people in both.
Highly recommend Williams in an old drama that helped start his career, The World According To Garp. It was s good book first. Also a more recent but little known dramedy that is serious but has kids in it with Robin, is Jack. A different performance than you’ve seen from Williams.
Matt Damon played Will! His other friend is Ben Affleck! They wrote the movie! They both grew up in the Boston area! Both of had a lot of success of movies since this was produced! You’re right Robin Williams was amazing in this! The first time I saw Robin was on his TV show Mork and Mindy or he played an alien from outer space! Great heartfelt reaction to this movie!
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won a Oscar for this..They wrote this.. first time writers.. check out Matt in The Martian..Ford versus Ferrari...Ben is in a lot of things..The Accountant is good.
Rest in Peace Robin, so sad to know he was dealing with his own demons at this time in his life that ultimately won. If only he could have felt the joy he gave so many others and still does today with his humor and movies.
Thank you for what you said at the end of the video. You don't know how much I needed to hear that. I thought it was bad enough dealing with Crohn's for most of my life. I eventually got an ileostomy and it helped get my life together. But then last year, my 2 best friends passed away. I don't have many friends as it is. Since they passed, life has been very isolating and empty. I'm working a job that's not at all what I want to do. It can eventually turn into a good career, but it's soul-crushing for me. I'm in a state of limbo. I've had very little success in my dream career and I haven't had much time or opportunity to grow it. After my friends passed, I've felt no motivation to keep pursuing it. I feel like I've changed a lot and I haven't properly processed everything. The time moves by so fast and I am making no progress. I reached a breaking point a few days ago at work. I can't keep living with unhappiness and feeling like I'm squandering my gifts. I know my friends wouldn't want me to give up either. Thank you, James.

The "what is that accent" girl is Minnie Driver, she played a few minor roles around that time (90s), they are either a bit hit or miss in the success area.
I'm so happy you shared this reaction with us on RUclips, and I'm thrilled you enjoyed the film. It's definitely one of Robin's best dramatic roles. I think it would be very interesting for you to see One Hour Photo, What Dreams May Come, or The Fisher King, all excellent RW films that also touch on trauma in very different ways.
Three other Robin William films you should watch are Patch Adams which is based on a true story, The World According to Garp, and Good Morning Vietnam. All three are great films.
Well you should probably start the Kevin Smith film collection now, if you like his style of comedy eventually you will come to "jay and silent bob strike back" and there is a hilarious scene in which Damon and Affleck, playing themselves, are filming a scene from "Good will hunting 2"😂😂
@@AwesomeUSMovies alas, no, it is only a joke for the purpose of that movie. Affleck and Damon are friends of Kevin Smiths and also appear together in dogma, which was his 4th movie and again in jay and silent bob strike back. Affleck also stars in his 3rd movie "chasing Amy". Clerks should already be on your recommendations and that was first. I am sure your schedule is pretty full and I'm just hoping someone else has recommended it. Lamentably I am unable to afford to become a Patreon subscriber at this time, but if my fortunes reverse, you will be the first one I join, if only to get you to watch a few specific films I think you will enjoy. @@AwesomeUSMovies Casey Affleck won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for "Manchester by the Sea" which would also be a good movie for you to see.
There’s one Robin Williams movie I’ve always loved tho most people seem to have forgotten. The Fisher King, with Williams and Jeff Bridges. It think it won an Oscar for best supporting female, Mercedes Raul. I’d love to watch you watching it.
Matt Damon played Will Hunting (and Co-wrote this film w/ Ben)… A couple of great Matt Damon films you’ll LOVE: “THE MARTIAN,” and “THE BOURNE IDENTITY”… There’s more, but that’s a great start. Cheers!
I know the Martian because it's based off a book. I've read the book and it was very very good but I don't think watching a movie were I know everything is going to happen would work for this channel. I'll add Bourne Identity. Thanks
@11:45 y'oughta try Tito's vodka. As good as the $100 stuff and priced as it should be instead of having a celebrity and gouging. Smooth. Anyway, great reaction. You're like me, a big softie when it comes to great acting. Sucked right in. Cheers and Happy St. Patrick's Day! 💚👍🏻🍀
Another great and moving movie starring Robin Williams is 'Awakenings'. He plays doctor who makes someone come alive from locked-in syndrome (Robert di Niro).
Two of my favorite Robin Williams movies are 'Good Morning Vietnam' and 'Awakenings', both based on true stories. Bonus Forest Whitaker in 'Good Morning Vietnam' and bonus Robert de Niro in 'Awakenings'.
This is a wonderful movie. Robin Williams is such a favorite of mine. You should really watch The World According to Garp. Early Robin Williams and the first time I ever saw him play a dramatic roll and it just blew me away. Great reaction.
One of my favorite serious Robin Williams movie is One Hour Photo. React to it if you get the chance. It’s pretty “dark”, and many people consider is a psychological thriller. Personally, I’ve always found it to be a tragedy, however, and an interesting commentary on contemporary western society. Just remember that going in if you ever watch it.
@@AwesomeUSMovies The movie is a fantastic adaptation and even though you know the plot it's still worth watching. Just like Arrival if you've read that; another fantastic adaptation starring Matt Damon
I actually grew up in some of the places featured in this movie, and I have seen it many times, so it is kind of ingrained in me at this point. Watching your reaction to this wonderful and amazing movie brought back some of the emotions that I don't usually feel when other reactors do videos of this. The way you miss Robin is so like the way I miss him...thank you for posting this, James. 💯 I am just a tiny bit sad we did not get to see you laugh your butt off at Robin's "only if you grab my ass" joke...but I will get over it. LOL 😁
This is a wonderful movie, so well written and acted. RIP Robin Williams, he was a treasure. Besides some of his movies I especially like: The World According to Garp (1982), Moscow on the Hudson (1984), Awakenings (1990), The Fisher King (1991), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Jumanji (1995), One Hour Photo (2002).
If there were 3 films I would have to recommend people watch if they wanted to chart boys becoming men, it’ always “stand by me”, “dead poets society” and this one “good will hunting”
The hunt for Good will its an Intentional PUN. Its not about money, work, the right psychological treatment, its about following your heart, its about being a genius and even then, following your heart, its about being a mathematician genius and yet following your heart, it matters not in which class it can get your, your wit, books or special tallent, none compare with your heart. Almost NO ONE understands this about this movie.. Robin's character leaves his field also Will does.. its ALL ABOUT A GOOD WILL HUNTING. they - the characters are a mere reflection of that purpose. Follow your HEARTS PEOPLE
You don't know who Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are. If you think back to Saving Private Ryan. Matt Damon was in fact private Ryan. Please check out "Awakenings" from 1990 it is another gripping movie with Robin Williams co starring Robert DeNiro. It is based on a true story. Matt Damon has done a lot of great movies also, my favorite being "The Martian" from 2015 and the Jason Bourne series. You being an avid reader might have read Robert Ludlum's novels, "The Bourne Identity", "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum" but the movies are very different as they only keep the main premise of the books. You would most definitely love them.

I don't rate Robin Williams at all as a comedian but he was capable of very powerful acting performances.
Robin Williams was excellent in Patch Adams. You would enjoy that one as well.
The "what is that accent" girl is Minnie Driver, she played a few minor roles around that time (90s), they are either a bit hit or miss in the success area.
The binoculars catch was great. Never noticed before.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
If you like Robin you'll love Good morning Vietnam
Actually I already reacted to it. Forgot to include it in my list. Go check it out!

I loved your reaction to this amazing movie. Between your laugh and your tears, I appreciated your very sincere emotions. New sub ☺️
Wow, thank you!
the awakenings with robin williams and
robert deniro is an outstanding performance by both.
hope you get to it.
Also watch the Birdcage with Robin Williams
Three other Robin William films you should watch are Patch Adams which is based on a true story, The World According to Garp, and Good Morning Vietnam. All three are great films.
He already did watch GMV it's posted in the description
@@cathleenwarner1778 Ok, all he has to do is watch the others.
This film hits HARD. His fight with skyler, and the end scene where “it’s not your fault”
Tears everytime.
You've seen three of Robin's very best. I think your next one should be Jumanji - it's a super fun movie. I think you'd love it. Cheers from Canada :)
Well you should probably start the Kevin Smith film collection now, if you like his style of comedy eventually you will come to "jay and silent bob strike back" and there is a hilarious scene in which Damon and Affleck, playing themselves, are filming a scene from "Good will hunting 2"😂😂
There is a sequel?
I watch many reactions and I like when you do comedies the most.
James thanks for sharing your thought, you're one of the most sincere reactors out here.
I appreciate that
Chuckie and Morgan's actors are brothers in real life - Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck.
Oh that's funny
@@AwesomeUSMovies Casey Affleck won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for "Manchester by the Sea" which would also be a good movie for you to see.
There’s one Robin Williams movie I’ve always loved tho most people seem to have forgotten. The Fisher King, with Williams and Jeff Bridges. It think it won an Oscar for best supporting female, Mercedes Raul. I’d love to watch you watching it.
Another deep Robin Williams movie is What Dreams May Come
Matt Damon played Will Hunting (and Co-wrote this film w/ Ben)… A couple of great Matt Damon films you’ll LOVE: “THE MARTIAN,” and “THE BOURNE IDENTITY”… There’s more, but that’s a great start.
Thanks for the suggestion
You should check out What Dreams May Come
Another great and moving movie starring Robin Williams is 'Awakenings'.
He plays doctor who makes someone come alive from locked-in syndrome (Robert di Niro).
I appreciated your words at the end of this reaction - your feelings, your heart, and your vulnerability.
Thank you so much, it came from the heart
Two of my favorite Robin Williams movies are 'Good Morning Vietnam' and 'Awakenings', both based on true stories. Bonus Forest Whitaker in 'Good Morning Vietnam' and bonus Robert de Niro in 'Awakenings'.
This is a wonderful movie. Robin Williams is such a favorite of mine.
You should really watch The World According to Garp. Early Robin Williams and the first time I ever saw him play a dramatic roll and it just blew me away.
Great reaction.
Love that movie. One of my favorites.❤
Hi James..thought I would watch the movie with my fav reaction..
Oh thank you so much for the support
Next you need to see him in “The Bird Cage”
I've seen this movie numerous times never noticed her holding the binoculars backwards lol
Ha ha I got it first try
"I'm not a big alcohol person, I like vodka".
Me: Same!
I thought about that afterward. LOL, I'm a big White Russian / Bloody Mary person on special occasions or vacations.
I love this movie. Robin was total fire and his ad-lib parts are toughing to the heart.
Thanks Bill for watching
One of my favorite serious Robin Williams movie is One Hour Photo. React to it if you get the chance. It’s pretty “dark”, and many people consider is a psychological thriller. Personally, I’ve always found it to be a tragedy, however, and an interesting commentary on contemporary western society. Just remember that going in if you ever watch it.
Matt Damon played Will Hunting. since you like science, check out his other movie The Martian. i think you will enjoy it
I think that is based on a book and I've read it so... I pretty much know everything that will happen.
@@AwesomeUSMovies yes its based off a book. well good you read it already then
@@AwesomeUSMovies another great series with Matt Damon is the Jason Bourne series of moves based off the books by Robert Ludlum
@Awesome US Movies as someone who has also read the book and seen the movie I think you should still see the movie.
@@AwesomeUSMovies The movie is a fantastic adaptation and even though you know the plot it's still worth watching. Just like Arrival if you've read that; another fantastic adaptation starring Matt Damon
Other great movies. Patch Adams, Good Morning Vietnam, Awakenings, The Birdcage, Insomnia, Jumanji.
Can we as a people stop calling films vehicles...its so cringy.
What analogy would you prefer to represent a movie that has momentum because of a specific actor in that movie?
I actually grew up in some of the places featured in this movie, and I have seen it many times, so it is kind of ingrained in me at this point. Watching your reaction to this wonderful and amazing movie brought back some of the emotions that I don't usually feel when other reactors do videos of this. The way you miss Robin is so like the way I miss him...thank you for posting this, James. 💯
I am just a tiny bit sad we did not get to see you laugh your butt off at Robin's "only if you grab my ass" joke...but I will get over it. LOL 😁
James, you have to see the absolutely amazing series Firefly + 1 Movie. Amazing series that ended before it was supposed to. Great story and comedy.
Great to know, thanks Phil
Looking for another good viewing, check out Ben Affleck in his self directed 'Argo' and you will be pleased.
Another fantastic, serious performance by Robin Williams is in the film AWAKENINGS. It also stars the legendary Robert DeNiro. Highly recommended.
If there were 3 films I would have to recommend people watch if they wanted to chart boys becoming men, it’ always “stand by me”, “dead poets society” and this one “good will hunting”
Iowa State is getting their butts kicked!!!
Yup
The hunt for Good will its an Intentional PUN. Its not about money, work, the right psychological treatment, its about following your heart, its about being a genius and even then, following your heart, its about being a mathematician genius and yet following your heart, it matters not in which class it can get your, your wit, books or special tallent, none compare with your heart. Almost NO ONE understands this about this movie..
Robin's character leaves his field also Will does.. its ALL ABOUT A GOOD WILL HUNTING.
they - the characters are a mere reflection of that purpose.
Follow your HEARTS PEOPLE
Good Bob Hunting. 😂 Would you consider watching Wednesday? It's only eight episodes.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon wrote this movie. Robin Williams won the Oscar for best supporting actor, Ben and Matt win for writing the screenplay
