These dudes are so young they probably need a first time hearing of "Warren G's Regulate" which sampled this song as well.
I knew I heard that regulate sample in there
I was thinking the same thing!
I'm old enough that both of those songs had decent airplay when I was growing up, and I'm embarrassed that I didn't make the Regulate connection until just now. 🤦🏼♀️
Regulators...mount up!!! Great song. Jadakiss sampled this song as well on a track. I think it was called Kiss is spitten'
Oh you must regulate! Yes, Warren G, all the way 🙌🏻
One of the greatest most recognizable voices of a generation. Michael McDonald is a legend.
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟
Agree!!!
I like him singing with Christopher Cross.Ride Like the Wind.
Michael McDonald was one of the White artist on the Motown label... had a huge Black following
And still does 👍🏾
It is so cool to see you comment! I met you at Amplify last year and you told us to pay attention to what young people are doing. These two are brilliant!
And Dont keep forget-ing
I'm 60 and never knew he was white but color don't matter in music
Michael McDonald WAS Black 😄 just stuck in that white body lol 😆
I keep forgetting they don't make songs like this anymore
Truth 🤣
You ain't never lied !

Never can and Never will!!! Love it!!!!! 😘
Unfortunately. We need more great music like this made
“On my own”with the great Miss Patti LaBelle is a real classic.
Loved that one. It's like listen to the radio back then when visiting with these guys.
Such a great song from the 80's
CLASSIC!!! Love that song!!
@Pam L Yeah , that duet is a jam!
Facts.
This is what we call BLUE EYED SOUL and artists like Michael McDonald, Hall & Oates were leading the pack! Classic music
Marcus...Don't forget The Righteous Bros....
There's also, Bobby Caldwell, Teena Marie, The Doobie Brothers (which Michael McDonald was a part of) Jon B. and many more. Good music transcends color lines that's for sure!
yesss Daryll Hall !!!
@@harrymiram6621 Meh...
Player, Ambrosia, Teena, JT, Robin, Steve Miller Band, NuShooz, Jane Child, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, The Average White Band, etc.
Michael Mcdonald is the coldest blue eyed soul singer on the planet. He's so cold Brian McKnight got some swag from him
Love it!!!
He had all of it.
Yes!! Love em both 💕

Aren't they tho?!!! They showed up on my feed and are my new enjoyment!
That's because we are listening to them with years behind us . life went by so fast. So did the Hits.
If you REALLY want to hear Michael McDonald go to church, listen to him when he was with the Doobie Brothers singing Taking It to the Streets. Unbelievable!
😂 Foreal!!!!
Or What A Fool Believes. Or doing back up vocals for Steely Dan on "Peg" and "Time Out of Mind".
Amen!
Yes!! The Doobie Brothers are hip to this day. Which brings up another band that needs do be reckoned with by these young music lovers: Tower of Power!
What do fools believe
“You made a masterpiece with this one Michael.”
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!!

That is a great song that is one of my faves as well
Yeeeees!!!!
One of my favs
But this ruclips.net/video/GrE22Lw1vmQ/видео.html lol
Michael McDonald has one of the most soulful voices ever. This track should be in everyone's playlist on GP.
Uhkaay!!!
Absolutely
Those amazing background vocals are delivered by Mikes sister Maureen.
He has some other hits that both his sisters (Kathy & Maureen) sing on. Its an amazing world class gifted family. And they are wonderful salt of the earth real folks.
Wow i had idea
Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald "Takin' it to the Streets" will blow you away. Their outdoor concert rendition is the best video for this song.
Yesss! Michael McDonald: That blue eyed soul! One of my favorite musicians back in the day. When I first heard him sing in the 80s, I thought he was black. 😜
Keisa black same here.
Everyone thought he was Black. Hahahaha
Yes, thought he was black.
Me too!! 😃
@@carligreens7995 Hall and Oates also.
Quotable moment:
"He must have some memory loss because he keep forgettin' bro...he forgot 110 times!" 💜😁😄😂🤣😂😄😁💜👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 You guys are a RIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the group the Doobey Brothers....”What a Fool Believes”
One of the most incredible voices in the business. Classy, perfection.
Thats his sister singing the background vocals. Their mom must’ve been feeding them soul food when they was little lol they got Soul.
Soulful sounds of Micheal McDonald.
No way!!!
Thats his sister!
Don't get me wrong cos Michael sounds really good, but I actually like the background vocals more on this track. That lady got some soul!
Lol😃😃😃
Did not know that!!
You two are adorable! Jamming to Michael McDonald?! LMAO! 😂 This old girl in Seattle is your newest, biggest fan! Keep exploring and have fun! ✌😁❤
I think they're adorable too!!!!
They’re cutest! I love their reactions.
I just found them today after the Phil Collins video...I'm a huge fan. These young men are great!
I just found them today after the Phil Collins video...I'm a huge fan. These young men are great!

Check out his duet with Patti LaBelle: “On My Own” !
Ohhh Yesss, Classic!
On my own is one of her best
That is one of the all time GREAT duets! Do these youngsters even know who Patti Labelle is???
This is a fun channel! Good work guys!!!
👦 👦
@@Braedenfish Haha 😄 I know right
Great suggestion.
Michael McDonald has the most amazing voice !
One of my dad's favorites
He’s the only person I want to see in concert
@@bigmona2741 Seen him twice in the last few years, the tempo is slowed down (nothing wrong with that, he's nearly 70 now) but he can still find the range in his voice when he needs it.
...and sexy as hell with it
Hall & Oates - I Can’t Go For That, Private Eyes, Maneater, You Make My Dreams Come True
Or Some Things are Better Left Unsaid. :-)
Ask your gran or an older auntie about him, he is known as "Blue eyed soul".
How refreshing to see youngsters going through a back catalogue of music that's been around for decades and genuinely enjoying their surprise reactions. There are some great artists out there today but the music of our childhoods will always live forever fir the generation's to come.
Earth, wind, and fire’s September
Good one! I can see them bopping and snapping to that in my head!
How have they not done that one yet?
Another vote for listening to the song "September" please
Another vote from me for September!
Yes!!
Absolute FAVORITE song of all time. That doggone bass and drum is everything.
You young men are a joy!! I'm 65 and was raised on this music and to see two young men appreciating this is great to see!!
Hall and Oates, (No Can Do) I Can't For That. Yall need to hear that bass groove. It will blow hour mind!
Sara Smile too
Yes yes Hall and Oats Man Eater. Keep doing what you do! Love your reactions
The redux with Ceelo is awesome
AGREE!
Family Man!!! 👍🏻
Give "Easy Lover" a listen if you haven't heard it before. Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey.
Great song!
DAAANG!!! That takes me back 💭💖
Great song
easily my favourite song ever - I will never get sick of it!!
OH YEAH!! Great song!
Please listen to George Michael "One More Try". That man had a once in a lifetime voice.
Michael is classic blue eyed soul. So smooth. He wrote and sang background on SO MANY songs! 🔥🔥
What a fool Believes, is one the best Doobie Brothers IMHO
Written by Kenny Loggins
Listen to the acoustic version he did with Kenny Loggins. Man, that ish is heartbreaking.
Lovvvvvvvve that song!!!
One of my favorite songs of all-time.
Thats my favorite song omg like his voice so smooth and soothing.
The woman singing background vocals is his sister, Maureen McDonald.
Diana Probst I never knew that. Soul runs in the family🙌🏽
I thought it was Nicolette Larson all these years!
I never knew that. Thanks
Wow, I didn't know that!
Cool
One of the smoothest, most soulful voices in music. His voice is like velvet and is as smooth as silk one of my favorite vocal artists. He was fabulous with the Doobie Brothers, and his solo work was filled with the rich vocals I had loved so much in the Doobie Brother's China Grove, and Taking It to the Streets. Great song choice.
"He must have memory loss....he keep forgettin." 😂
Christopher Cross “Sailing” will blow your mind!
“Ride Like The Wind”, even more so!!
JJ Lassiter I've requested this too! And Arthur's Theme!
JJ Lassiter thanks for the memory jolt, off to Spotify..
Yes!!! And definitely check out the version Take 6 did if the song! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽. They’re a beastly cappella group.
Yes!!!!! #yachtrock
Nate Dog and Warren G sampled this song in their song Regulate. I'm positive you would like it.
Steve Winwood “Higher Love”
Their innocence is so refreshing!! Love these guys.
Lisa Stansfield: Been around the world. Great song. You’ll love it.
Yes!!
Its like a trip down memory lane. You guys are my pandemic special treat. You seem to be nice chaps, thanks for bringing a smile to my face.
Well said!🙏🙂❤
Good description pandemic relief. Not too many things to really smile about. Keep the faith. Be well everyone.
i feel the same way.. good wholesome laughs and reactions.. love it
They're playing the soundtrack to my life with each segment. All the songs bring back the best memories.
These little guys are fun... has brought a smile to my face... nice that they're open... love Mchael McDonald ... they must check out Steely Dan ..
Still listening to Michael McDonald in 2021...amazing soulful voice..
...
It must be so refreshing and validating for the artists to see these two listen to their songs for the first time and respond in such an authentic and genuine way. I loved to see how Michael McDonald and other artists respond to these two's obvious appreciation. :-)
"Lovely Day" by Bill Withers. Great song!!
Yes....my current ringtone. Lifts my spirits
My favorite!
Y'all need to listen to "This is it" by Kenny Loggins. Your lives will never be the same. The arrangement is so crazy on that one. Especially the live version
My suggestion too!
I just suggested their duets on outside: live from the redwoods. What a fool believes
Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald do a dope song with Thundercat too, it's even pretty modern
Heart to Heart by Kenny really touches my soul. Give it a listen Jocelyn.✌
That's my jam!!
On a gorgeous fall nite sit outside and listen to Christopher Cross “sailing”
"RIDE LIKE THE WIND" IS MY FAV...
OMG...yessss!!! I love this song!!! Sigh...💜☺️
This guy live is beyond words, I saw him supporting Tina Turner and I can rememeber nothing about what she sang. His voice is so rich. It took the crowd about 2 songs to start dancing because the effect was spiritual.
He was in the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan before he went solo. Have you reacted to either of those bands? You would like Takin it To the Streets.
The Dobbie Brothers still sound great. Saw them last year at The Palms in Vegas. Can't wait until they come again. I'll be there!
I second this request👍
poodlegirl55 they just did a Steely Dan song last week.....Do It Again.
Steely Dan, yes.
Even though he was in Doobie brothers, he didn't sing Black water. But I highly recommend it.
The white man with the blackest voice, for me. His voice is incredible.
@ChitownPlr Me too and I grew up listening to the song. When I saw him perform it on an awards show I called my sisters.
And I love him. I'm the DJ at work, and this is on daily rotation.❤️
FOESHOW
They performed together on a awards show before...
They are too young to know about Doobie Brothers...that Man sung a duet with Patti La Belle.. he is one soulful dude...Warren G sampled the instrumental for Regulate!
Lol! " He must got some memory loss because he keep forgetting" hilarious 🤣
*HE SOUNDS EVEN MORE AMAZING IN PERSON. I WAS WORKING AT A PLACE HE WAS SINGING AT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE CD. NO MICHEAL WAS LIVE*
"He must got some memory loss cause he keep forgetting" Cracked me up! I laughed out loud. I love your reactions to so many different types of music! Thanks so much for sharing and bringing smiles and memories to so many of us!
I quoted that line in my comment too! It was a real knee slapper! 😄😁😆😅🤣😂😁
Michael McDonald has such a great voice, and I could listen to him all day.
😅😅😅 guys - check out two of my favorite performers - MILLIE JACKSON. also K-CEE & JOJO. I'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR REACTION !
"He must have some memory loss 'cause he keep forgettin'." I actually laughed out loud!
Brings me back to my childhood! My Mom LOVED Michael McDonald
and would blast on repeat the Doobie Brothers and his solo albums. Classic! ❤️
Ok, now check out Boz Skaggs......”Dirty Lowdown”.
Yes!!
Jo Jo..❤ good choice tho !!
Riiiight!
I wore out my Silk Degrees album!
blue eye soul
I was your age when most of the music you review was new. Spent a couple hours here, wallowing in some memories and cheering y'all on hearing it the first time. Liked, subscribed and rang that bell!
Ditto.
Saw them on FB tonight with a link to Twitter by a friend, they were watching Phil Collins, immediately came over to their channel, liked and subscribed and hit the bell. I'm really loving how these young guys connect to music.
Right?! Same. These kids are such fun!
I can't stop watching these guys. I've watched HOURS of videos! Reliving my youth. Love Michael's soulful voice.
One of my absolute favorite lead singers. No mistaking his unique voice. This is my fave song of his. I miss him on the radio. Saw him at Red Rocks, CO amphitheater. He always sings with his eyes closed. He's legend. No one like him.....
Highly recommend Sarah Smile by Hall and Oates. It's your next banger.
Oooooooooohhhhh....... Or I Can't Go For That!! I love Hall and Oates!!
Oh how I love that soooong!
love me Hall and Oats
Another vote for "Sarah Smile" please
I prefer their Adult Education song..👍
Michael McDonald was in the groups, “ Steeley Dan” and the “ Doobie Brothers” before he went solo
I never knew he was with Steely Dan. Wow! Learn something new everyday... 🤗
Same l didn't know he was with SD. I knew about the Doobies tho. But interestingly enuff l used 2 luv SD songs 2. Now l know why. Thx 4 sharing history.
Michael was never a member of Steely Dan🤔 he just did Backing vocals in the Studio for them before breaking out on his own.
@@TheNeilo-Audiosound ohhh interesting! I thought he was actually in the group.. Thank you!
@@nynurse2 Dianne Steely Dan are my Favourite Group and yet really they aren’t a Band Either (and admit it)
Donald Fagen (Lead Singer and Keyboards) and Recently Deceased Walter Becker R.I.P Guitar) used only top Session Musicians in the Studio to
Complete their albums going through
Whole different musicians to perfect their Sound so really the band Steely Dan consisted of Donald and Walter
And Session/Studio Musicians.
Some of them the best at what they do.I Won’t Embarrass myself or you telling you How Steely Dan Got their name as it’s Quite Rude but Highly Novel and Unusual.(Look it up😜)
Actually here you go👍

I love this song!! Listen to Kenny Rogers “Lady”
Ooh! Good one.
I personally like "Ruby" the best. Great story song.
Absolutely love these young guys listening to such great classic artists in our day! Michael has so much soul! I could listen to his voice every day! Smooth..
im 20 and my heart hurt when they said they had never heard of Michael McDonald lol :(
I think they're ready for some Hall and Oats, Sarah Smiles, Man Eater...
You guys said it right, this is a masterpiece. He has a beautiful strong soulful voice. Glad you guys like his song!
Nicole Larsen sang the chorus "I keep forgettin" I love the soul in Michael's voice!
I would like to suggest Sade "sweetest taboo" for women's Wednesday.
Oleta Adams Get There. Ohhh man that's so good.
Or Jezebel...
Her voice was velvet.
Helga- yes! Love that song! I was 8 when it came out and still love it today! Sade voice is like velvet
Anything by Sade
“Sara Smile” by Hall and Oates
Hearing him live is everything. I heard him sing this- takes your breath away. Pure emotion.
That goes to show you, race don't mean a thing if youve got the voice to sing. What a sexy, handsome man that can bring his thing. This was during the genre when music was music.Thank you both for the flashback. This song and beat will NEVER be forgotten.👍👍❤️❤️ Remember Warren G & Nate Dogg (R.I.P) Regulate. The music is what made that song a hit. He keeps forgetting but I won't. For sho!!!!!
Michael McDonald - classic. This came out when I was middle school age (we used to call it junior high) and for a while (before cable and MTV), I thought he was African American. When I found he was white, I was surprised. "That dude is white?" lol So smoooth. He was once part of the great group The Doobie Brothers. Oh PLEASE if you haven't reacted to them, you will LOVE them. You'll hear Michael McDonald's voice in their "Takin' it to the Streets" and "What a Fool Believes" and their "Black Water' is so Americana. You will NOT be disappointed. Great reaction guys!
Add to that "Listen to the Music", "Jesus is Just Alright", and "Long Train Dunno" from the original lineup, "Minute by Minute" and "It Keeps You Running" from the Michael McDonald years.
You should go to one of his concerts... he’s even better live!
Love his Motown albums...
Junior high, yessss to us old people!!! 😆😂🤣
Alexa KL64 Blue eyed soul is a real music genre
@@TheLuscious I know that now... just back then, I thought he was African American until I eventually saw him.
She broke his heart...but he still loves her...he just keeps forgetting...poor guy...
I would have not gotten thru the last nine months without these guys, they are so upbeat. A reason to smile everyday.
I love your reactions. For you young men to be able to tune in to the vibe and spirit of these "CLASSICS" is phenomenal ! I can tell you two really get it ! Keep the reactions rollin' .
Since you enjoyed this so much, I think you would enjoy some Steve Winwood! You should definitely check out his song "Higher Love"!
Whitney Houston actually has a pretty amazing version of that son too!
Traffic with Steve, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boy
And some Doobie Brothers
