"Takin' It to the Streets", "What a Fool Believes", and a song with James Ingram called "Yah Mo Be There" are some of my favorites. You guys crack me up! Now you know why we loved our 80s music. I saw Michael McDonald when he was part of the Doobie Brothers back in the day. He is awesome. It's good to see younger people enjoying it too.
The drummer on this recording is Jeff Porcaro, the most recorded studio drummer through the 70's, 80's and further...he was the drummer for the group Toto..Jeff and his Toto band mates helped write and played on the Thriller album for Quincy and Micheal Jackson... just a little background.. enjoyed the reaction guys!

Miraculous is exactly the right word. Yes, influenced by African American singers, but a sound all his own, instantly recognizable, so musical, so soulful, truly beautiful.
Joni Mitchell's "Good Friends", Dog Eat Dog's opening track and first single. Mitchell's choice of Michael McDonald on vocals. The video of Good Friends is very creative with Joni and her then bass playing husband, Larry Klein (producer of many singer's albums) together. To me the video is very reminiscent of Michael Jackson's "Leave Me Alone" video. Pretty different and cool video for the timez! Michael also does background vocals on the song "Tax Free" off the same album.

I'm 50 and my parents were listening to this guy since he was with The Doobie Brothers 💯 Michael went solo in 82 Do yourselves a favor and listen to The Doobie Brothers Greatest Hits; it doesn't disappoint 👌It keeps you running, Long Train Running, Minute by minute, Taking it to the streets; Real Love, etc. you boys will LOVE em✌️
This was fun to watch! He had an amazing duet with Ms. Patty Labelle "On My Own"
If Ross (the guy on the far right) moves like that listening to a song I can only imagine what he be like in .... (well I won't say it...but suffice to say "a romantic situation")
Yes!! That is a must listen!! ❤
💯
If you guys like Michael McDonald, you really like one of his best friends Kenny Loggins. In fact, Michael McDonald background for him on several occasions. Even Michael Jackson said he was influenced by Kenny and his singing style: Here's some of Kenny Loggins famous hits:

Love that song
Michael McDonald is a GOAT! He sang lead in one of the best bands of the 70s & 80s, The Doobie Brothers. "Takin' It to the Streets", "What a Fool Believes", and a song with James Ingram called "Yah Mo Be There" are some of my favorites. Btw, Steely Dan, Toto and other bands seemed to keep Mr. McDonald busy with backing vocals in those days.

His voice is amazing. You should listen to him sing with James Ingram!

21 and baby #1
1982!
Yes, 1982, not 79. Its similar to the Doobie Brothers album he sang lead on in 1979 though.
I was six and I still LOVE IT!
Ditto!
So cool to c the younger gen enjoying our good music from back in the day. The good music was plentiful & immaculate.
I love these videos bridging the musical gap. Most of the time, the younger generation is blown away! That's what we had the pleasure of growing up to.
I love when young people really understand what real good music is. the Joy on your faces!
That was me when I got to this country 29 years ago.. It was awesome to learn about the music from the 80’s.
Yes, we had real music and it knew no color🤣🤣🤣
Oh how I miss this genre of music. Bring it back!
The guy in the blue hoodie casually getting up and dancing put a smile on my face!!
PURE JOY!!
Mine too! :) :)

One of my favorite songs from this insanily talented man. ❤ Love from Australia!
Cool Info!
He was in the Doobie Brothers for about a decade. Not Toto.
@Sean Mandell Jeff Porcaro was the only drummer Toto had until his death in 1992.. wasn't talking about MIcheal McDonald ....
@@seanmandell3613 you’re right
@@txtamaman my bad. I missed that. Is cool information
Once you hear Michael McDonald you never unhear him. His voice is in the background of tons of great songs as well as his Doobie Brothers and solo projects.
Doobie
One of the few recognizable distinct voices in music history 🥰
This is it by Kenny Loggins. Even though McDonald helped write it, you definitely hear him in the backing vocals.
@@nosirrahm Oh yeah -- GREAT TUNE! Michael's right there in that gorgeous bridge!
He did the background background vocals on Steely Dan's Peg. One of the most underated songs out there.
Ahh.. What you won't do...! That tune bangs in every Genre, language and style. RIP Bobby 🙏🏽💕
I just love watching you all.....music brings us all together....

You guys are so fun to watch. The talent in the bands of the 70s can not be matched.
Y'all make me so happy dancing with my music 🎶 Love your reactions always ❣️ You are all so handsome 🥰
Personally I think the bands and songs of the of the 70s but mostly the 80s are unmatched. I was born at the wrong time unfortunately and didn't get to enjoy the magic of that time.
Oh y'all didn't know...now ya know... yeah gon and jam wit it! Keep digging into the music of the 70s and 80s and be AMAZED 💯
This era had some real bangers.
"The blackest white folks I ever met." I done died with that. And the boy in blue feeling this sweet vibe. Dear Lord, how I love this video. Thank you for a much needed laugh and the memory of hearing a song I used to drive at night with my window down to.

I'm glad you guys know great music when you hear it!!! Love this song!!!
I'm a stagehand and worked one of his tours a few years ago. I got to help set up his piano for the show. He's still got the chops; it was a great show.

You guys crack me up!! Saw Michael 1978 when he was with the Doobie Brothers.❤😂
Michael's speaking vioice is also beautiful. His voice is miraculous, not to mention he is also a seriously nice, humble person.
love him❤
Miraculous is exactly the right word. Yes, influenced by African American singers, but a sound all his own, instantly recognizable, so musical, so soulful, truly beautiful.
@@stellabandante2727 yes
“Miraculous”? That weird falsetto noise coming out of his mouth? It’s torture. The guy had great hair, though.
Saw him some years ago on a cruise full of bands from the 70s.
Michael is one of the greatest lead singers AND one of the greatest backup singers.
I love how humble he is to be a backup singer. He is amazing.
Yes this is a wicked tune I Love it 🥰
You young men are such a joy to watch. I love some of your reactions to music I listen to when I was young. ❤
This is proof that we have young people with good taste, who know how to appreciate quality music. Very good guys❤

So nice to see you young guys enjoying this. This where most of your today's rappers get their music samples from our music. This is one of my favorite songs. I'm 50 yrs old now but grew up on this good music.
