My salad/bowl consist of: greens, raw veggies (carrot, cucumber, red pepper, beet root, tomato), cooked broccoli, tempeh, beans, sweet potatoes and a avocado mayo made with avocado, limes, onion, parsley 😋
My go-to dinner is 1kg of country bread, 250 ml of olive oil, a dish of raw wild greens, and when I’m feeling particularly luxurious a pottage of lentils or beans and a pitcher of wine. I eat meat only when celebrating military victories over barbarians.
heather macdonald I think if this is the case one has an underlying problem and skipping both food groups manages symptoms but doesn’t resolve or heal the issue. Or a genetic condition of course but in that case I would still search for a whole grain that my gut could deal with.
@Sam G PLEASE list those 15 nutrients. Everything that is not in plants, except B12 (found in the soil) is non-essential, meaning the body makes it's own. That's why it is in the animal bodies you eat. Indigestible fiber is great for your digestive system - it cleans out your colon (kind of the point of fiber). And lastly, most of the 'nutrient blocking' nutrients gets released when soaked or cooked (which you probably do anyway with grains and legumes) and the remainer may actually help block cancerous cells! Check out Nutritionfacts.org for incredible, life-changing and most importantly, scientifically sound, info on food!
Lentil sprouts, an allium or two, curry, turmeric, fenugreek (soaked, sprouted or micro), buckwheat micros, brown rice, pea shoots, sunflower microgreens, alfalfa and/or red clover sprouts, pinch pink sea salt, pinch of black or white pepper, nutritional yeast and siracha. Bon.
Where do people get the idea that a plant-based diet is expensive? Sure, if you shop at Whole Foods where the produce is washed with holy water then I’m sure the bill racks up, but there’s nothing wrong with buying conventional fruits and veggies. Rice, beans, lentils, pasta, potatoes... these serve as great bases for meals and go a long way if you buy bulk.

I am following a what I call RAINBOW diet where daily I eat at least 7 different colours of vegetables and fruits. Dairy free, Meat free, oil free, sugar free and Salt free. I have also made a powder that has linseed, quinoa, flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, kernels, pepitas, sesame seeds, cashews, peanuts, rolled oats and buckwheat. I add this to my multigrain flour to make roti. Legumes, beans and lentils are on my daily lunch menu. I have lost 15kg in the past 7 months. Never felt that healthier and energetic. Trust me vegetarian diet works.
My fav right now is chopped sweet potatoes, chopped apples, diced onions, black beans. Fry up with grapeseed oil, little pink Himalayan salt, pepper. I slice avocado and put it on top after if I have it.

They all eat great foods, but only one uses potatoes and not sweet potatoes. I mix potatoes with beans, rice anything since potatoes are so nourishing. I wonder why they are ignored, they absorb the flavors of the other foods and provide excellent energy. Cheers, Rik Spector
Potatoe skins are a good pre biotic ... potatoes are powerhouses of nutrition... I am of the belief they are unfairly vilified ... but they should not be baked... better to steam sautéed or boil ... there is a chemical reaction in the skin that happens when they are baked that is undesirable... I cannot remember the details but if anyone is interested it probably would not be too hard to find info about
I'm in my 20s but I have oversensitivity to a lot of foods and I don't have the best cardiovascular health. The plant-based diet and healthy living is really a life saver in this regard.

Sprouted legumes are more nutritious than unsprouted. This has been well studied and well documented. If you want to maximize your nutrition, sprouting your legumes is the way to go. French lentils are the best, and they are very easy and quick to sprout. They are good raw or cooked, and they are also more easily digested.
@@VanjasVeganVoyage I am about 80-90% of the time on a WPBD because it is a bit harder to live on this diet here in Croatia in compare to other countries in the world especially if you are in college. I was so excited to hear the shout-out to the Happy Pear! Love those guys & their recipes are not only delicious but accessible to anyone (I’m referring to my own super-tight budget & the concerns around that as a poverty-line vegan. I’ll do whatever it takes to maintain my ethical values, as well as my personal health issues. My first grocery stop is the Dollar Tree, esp for beans, lentils, canned tomato situations, etc; I see tight-budget veganism as such a fantastic creative kitchen challenge-it’s not a limitation at all. I’ve stopped eating out, or ordering overpriced food altogether bc my “single-skillet-activist” food collages (uh, recipes & meals) are so fun. I’m only feeding myself here, so that’s helpful. Additionally, I was recently gifted an InstantPot, so that has opened up so many new ways to 1) (!!!) save money & 2) help my family by cooking their dry beans & grains. I cannot sing loudly enough the praises for InstantPot & pressure cookers like it! That means so much to me, my general happiness & my desire to give back to my parents who have helped me so much as a traumatic brain injury survivor-my vegan commitment wasn’t taken lightly or overnight bc of the fact that I cannot be entirely independent. However, going vegan & cooking everything for myself has been such a huge & positive step forward in the right & healthy direction. (Whoops, wrote a ton-honestly was just excited to hear some acknowledgement for the #happypear...🤷🏻♀️) ☮️❤️🌱

@vegan til I die Not exactly sure what you mean by that. If they have a medical condition they may need a more specific diet. It would still be in the plant based realm but tailored to this individuals medical condition.
@@marley7659 Why plant-based for a classic diabetic? Almost ALL diabetics can go off medications within a month or so on a carnivore diet. Ethics and medical science have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other. Facts are facts, and plant-based for a diabetic is dubious advise at best, although it could possibly work in a keto form. BTW, I agree with the doctor advise, but again, why plant-based? Conflating ethics with nutrition is a category error, logically speaking.

I did a whole food plant based diet about four years ago. I failed a few times due to cravings but I finally succeeded to stay on it and after about six months I had lost 45 pounds. My depression even seemed to go away after several weeks. Unfortunately, I let myself fall off the diet and gained back the weight. But I’m going to do it again. My obstacle is salad dressings. Balsamic vinegars get old after a few days. I just bought Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s cookbook and hopefully the salad dressing recipes in there will help me out. I really want to succeed this time as I’m pre-diabetic and 55 years old. My significantly younger fiancé and I want to enjoy a long and active life together. She’s super supportive and will eat the same as me even though she’s not over weight and is quite healthy. Cooking at home always and never eating out I think will be key for my success, especially in the first several months. I’m totally open to anyone’s advice.
What about frozen berry based vinaigrette? Frozen organic berries, vinegar or citrus juice, salt, pepper, sliver of garlic and some oil in the blender.
Well, it'll probably be the worst decision of your life and you will regret it in the future. All of these people look horrible. The do not look like they are in shape and they all look like they are deficient in something. They look sad and with the worst eye bags ever. Also, they have terrible aging signs, which they should not have for their age.
Experts also say we have to eat at least 40 to 50% of our food raw. It keeps us young and strong. This evening I ate Asian noodles (not whole wheat unfortunately) with raw salad and soy bean sprouts, onions and garlic, seasoned tofu and an apple. Great video as usual.
I really like this video. I have a lot of cookbooks and I like to cook, but making dishes is one thing - putting together meals is another. I really think it's valuable to see what all comprises a meal.

This is just absolute proof, a vegan diet isnt hard to make, cook, prepare, etc and it's quite affordable. I feel like a eat a ton of different beans and just fill in my plate with veggies or fruits or both!
My breakfast after 18 hour fast every day: soy milk powder, nutritional yeast, ground flax, walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, Brazil nut, cocoa powder, cinnamon, mint, ginger powder, rolled oats, dates, all in cold green tea. 600 calories and more than 50% RDA of every vitamin, mineral and fat, not to mention around 60% of fibre. In that 6 hour window, I also eat spinach and other greens, a few pieces of fruits and and all kinds of cruciferous and other veggies. I almost never cook... This is also awesome for my financial health since it costs me only a few dollars a day.

I have a singularly unique diet. Before bed: 3000 IU Vitamin D, 200 IU Vitamin B12. I started this 20 years ago and as a result: fatty liver: gone; high cholesterol: gone; pre-diabetes: gone; 20 pounds: gone. I am 55 years old.
Trace Absence I used to eat that much when I was always hungry. Now I eat coffee/mct/butter/heavy cream (small cup) around 7am. Eat lunch around 2pm which is a small salad (entire lunch fits in small salad plate), one fatty German sausage, shredded cheese and sometimes dressing. Then if I’m hungry later I’ll eat 4 oz of fatty meat and veggies(again on salad plate). For me a modified keto has worked best. I didn’t think it was possible to eat that little and not be starving but the fats really carry you far. There is vegan keto too. Cheers!
Barley and random veges in a crockpot with a bit of spaghetti sauce and water instead of broth and some Italian blend seasonings and fresh minced garlic ... cheap and easy and yum
I live out of my rice cooker (I don't eat rice, though 😂). I prefer to focus on beans and legumes (mainly lentils) , and then just add greens and "color". It's cheap, quick and easy.
There are a few comments below from people who say they prefer white rice even though they know brown rice is more healthy. 4 tips (& some ideas for number 4) Brown basmati rice tastes a lot nicer when it is fresh. Buy smaller bags and don’t store in the cupboard for years, find good recipes and use it. Throw in a handful of brown lentils. It lightens the texture of brown rice and adds to the flavour. Season brown rice with a twist of black pepper while you cook it. Make the rice fit the meal. See examples. Mushrooms and veg in a creamy almond or coconut curry goes best with a white rice, saffron rice, or rice with a handful of frozen peas thrown in to add a sweetness. An aubergine and chick pea middle Eastern curry goes well with a white basmati rice and a handful of frozen Broad beans thrown in to add a creaminess. A rich tamarind, veg and bean curry goes best with a wholegrain basmati rice. A vegan chilli goes really well with the brown rice brown lentil combo. A West Indian style curry goes really well with a white & brown rice mix (start cooking the brown rice 5 minutes before adding the whits rice) then when the rice is nearly ready, throw in some sweet corn to add a little sweetness.
it’s really a great idea to ask this simple question of people who have spent a lot of time thinking about WFPB nutrition - thank you! Is there another similar video out there, anyone? Just a general question about what people like to eat? I’m trying to gather ideas and experiment with recipes.

My go-to dinner is 1kg of country bread, 250 ml of olive oil, a dish of raw wild greens, and when I’m feeling particularly luxurious a pottage of lentils or beans and a pitcher of wine. I eat meat only when celebrating military victories over barbarians.
Notice how they all don’t avoid whole grains and legumes? :D
What’s Quinoa and Brown Rice?
Lander Hendrickx sorry Lander, I didn’t read correctly!
Sadly they arent good for everyone's digestive system
heather macdonald I think if this is the case one has an underlying problem and skipping both food groups manages symptoms but doesn’t resolve or heal the issue.
Brilliant idea for a video. Demonstrates that plant-based dinners don't have to be daunting.
Lentil sprouts, an allium or two, curry, turmeric, fenugreek (soaked, sprouted or micro), buckwheat micros, brown rice, pea shoots, sunflower microgreens, alfalfa and/or red clover sprouts, pinch pink sea salt, pinch of black or white pepper, nutritional yeast and siracha.
Bon.
Plant based curries for the win! Usually easy and to take the ghee out of recipes too
Where do people get the idea that a plant-based diet is expensive?

I mix potatoes with beans, rice anything since potatoes are so nourishing.
I wonder why they are ignored, they absorb the flavors of the other foods and provide excellent energy.

IKR potatoes are my absolute favourites
Frederick Spector I am having to do fod diet lately so I have switched from sweet potato to regular potato. I seem to prefer regular potato myself lol
What are IKR potatoes?
Mairzee Dotes IKR= I know right
Potatoe skins are a good pre biotic ... potatoes are powerhouses of nutrition... I am of the belief they are unfairly vilified ... but they should not be baked... better to steam sautéed or boil ... there is a chemical reaction in the skin that happens when they are baked that is undesirable... I cannot remember the details but if anyone is interested it probably would not be too hard to find info about

Spock ate meat, because logic.
Michelle Eden What logic?
Sprouted legumes are more nutritious than unsprouted. This has been well studied and well documented.
If you want to maximize your nutrition, sprouting your legumes is the way to go. French lentils are the best, and they are very easy and quick to sprout. They are good raw or cooked, and they are also more easily digested.
Food looks great I love seeing plantbased doctors 🌱

Luka Brkljačić absolutely!!!! Vegan diet is the best diet for us, animals, and the environment.
@@VanjasVeganVoyage I am about 80-90% of the time on a WPBD because it is a bit harder to live on this diet here in Croatia in compare to other countries in the world especially if you are in college. But still it is much easier to prepare plant based dishes. Problem is in viability of "vegan products" and Croatian conservative mentality. Things will change soon enough because no one can stop development of science in any field of study and the truth will come out eventually. 😁
Luka Brkljačić I know!!! But you are lucky. Croatia is still better than Bosnia or Serbia or Montenegro. When I was visiting last year I was able to find the most options in Croatia. Our culture is really fucked up when it comes to the treatment of animals. My entire family thinks ‘America has brainwashed me’ and ‘I need to come back home and eat real food’.
(Whoops, wrote a ton-honestly was just excited to hear some acknowledgement for the #happypear...🤷🏻♀️)

Is this type of eating recommended for a type 1 diabetic??
Seems to be a lot of carbs isn't that hard on a type 1 diabetic?
I would coordinate with a plant based doctor/dietitian for info that is useful for you. Everybody has different needs.
@@Российскийбот-ы3у Even Type 1 Diabetes??? Your pancreas stops producing insulin completely in this one. So you need to take insulin for the rest our your life. Type 2 diabetes you can reverse. Provided you didnt do permanent damage. A carnivore diet isnt going to fix anything. It is only going to mess up your endocrine system, damage your kidneys, and create a microbiome in your digestive system that is full of bad bacteria. The types of bacteria that feed on flesh rather than fibre.

There are a few comments below from people who say they prefer white rice even though they know brown rice is more healthy.
4 tips (& some ideas for number 4)
Brown basmati rice tastes a lot nicer when it is fresh.
