I noticed some of you saying you don't see log in the app on your iPhone 15. You have to turn it on inside your apple IOS before you can see it in the app.
reinstalling after migrating to the new phone worked for me to fix the viewfinder, use Generate LUT in Davinci, you just want a node converting to HLG2100 with a -1.5 global exposure offset 1. drag clip into Media, right click create new timeline from clip 2. right click Input Color Space should show Apple Log (if not update/change your project settings to "Davinci Color Managed") 3. go to Color tab, click Clips at the top, right click the clip 'Bypass Color Management' 4. in Effects panel, drag Color Space Transform onto the node: Rec2020/AppleLog → Rec2100/Rec2100HLG 5. still on color tab, click the HDR Grade button and change the Global exposure to -1.5 (this corrects the difference between NHK Base Spec and BBC, you can see what I mean by using LUTCalc) 6. Right click the clip and Generate LUT → 65 Point Cube 7. Airdrop that Cube to the iPhone BMD app LUT folder This LUT works for the viewfinder, but you will need to create one to Rec709 without exposure adjustment for the Media tab You can also 'Share' a file from BMD app to the iPhone iMovie app which should be identical to if you drop the video into latest FCPX on Mac
I just found out from the app FB group that early installers, like myself, will NOT see the LOG option. You have to delete the app and reinstall it.@@neaumusic

SO glad to see a company like Blackmagic making consumer-first decisions. I’ve been happily throwing money at them lately and as long as they stay away from subscriptions (outside of cloud storage) I will continue to 🙌🏻 Thanks for the overview! Agreed, in this day and age where companies claw every bit of cash from consumers, it's refreshing to find a company that builds great applications and ecosystem allowing customers to invest wisely.
@@JamieFennI have noticed that the Blackmagic camera app is not as good as the native iPhone camera app in Low Light, do you find this as well, I always record at 60fps and use a iPhone XS.
I’m very excited about Apple Log. ProRes codec produces such huge files that I doubt I’ll use it, so I love that the Blackmagic app offers H.265. That’s what I use on the A7S III for every session. Log footage looks great, and H.265 file sizes are reasonable.
I started using this app just to try it out. I immediately got frustrated when my audio (USB mic directly to iPhone) was very low. I was so disappointed I almost deleted the app. Finally figured out that tapping on the audio meter pops up a screen to control gain from the app! I was trying to adjust the gain on my microphone before I figured this out and the gain had to be way too high to get the volume. Now, I think this app will work good for my videos.

I am using 15 pro max + this app, when I am shooting Apple Log in 4k 60fps, I always get the frame drop alert (all Apple Log Codec alert the frame drop, but H.264/265 won't), and it will stop recording after a minute or longer, and I found out the when shooting with 120mm, it will alert from the very beginning but the main 24mm lens won't(sometimes). Is something happening the same with your iPhone 15 Pro? I have tested the record to an external hard drive ( Samsung T7 2TB), and shooting with a 120mm lens is still showing the alert, is it only my iPhone? I am not sure if it's a hardware(120 mm lens) issue? or a software issue?

Not on iPhone
broo please teach me on how to change my color space to apple log ? how did u even import an apple log to colorspace
I have a powergrade on my online store that I think you enjoy. :)
Can you monitor audio with Bluetooth headphones?
I think so. But there would be a delay since it’s Bluetooth I’m assuming
Hi! Can I shoot vertically? For reels?
Yes
Yes. I show that in the video..
Can you create a custom wb using the color checker?
I don’t think so as of now.
Any lut for iPhone 13 Pro Max??
Anyone got some tips for the audio?
The audio meter only seems to go up by about a fifth of the green bar.
This is the case regardless of if it’s the iPhone mic or an external mic (using a TRRS 3.5mm to USB-C adapter).
Audio playback is extremely low in all scenarios, regardless of audio settings.
Any advice?
Hello, I connected a sandisk m.2 4tb to a 15pro max, it is exfat formatted but I could not see the 444 codec, no matter what I did, it also takes a long time for the external disk to write to the disk while recording and when I save the recording, I have to wait about 10 seconds for it to be recorded again. Is this normal? Thank you for the information.
I have the iphone 15 pro max 1TB. I don't have the prores 444 option only all the 422 options. What do you think? I deleted the Black magic camera app and reinstalled the app.
Right now the black magic app has 19 ratings I bet it’ll be super high after this video
haha we'll see!!
Geeat review! Wonder if we can use it on ip14?
The exact same way I show you here!
@@JamieFenn noted w thx. Any news/prediction that it will come on android too?
Iphone camera app will recognize my external SSD but BM Camera app wont, any clues?
Will not let me change the colour space from Apple log HDR ! to just Apple log, I have changed the settings in the IOS to log in pro res option and doesn't change it ?
Can we use this app to shoot while using a smartphone gimbal like insta360 flow or hohem isteady m6?
Definitely
@@JamieFenn Thank you for the prompt reply, really appreciate it! 🫶🏻
purchased the lut but cant get it off my windows to my iphone 15
Did you find an answer to this? I get lag on all 422 codec, don't know why
Can you take a photo with this app and how do you do it thanks
No it’s just for video
when shooting in Apple Log.. I seriously can't see the difference between shooting H265 and ProRes4444...
It will show in color grading process
Question: How do I save the video with the LUT applied? I applied it for display in the BM app, but export doesn’t show it.
Thanks for your help!
You can't. But Thats why I created this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/5DWWmlXF9Uk/видео.html
Toggle: "Record LUT to Clip" option under the Settings tab in BM app.
will this work with i phone 15 base model ???
Pro Res will not - but the app will for sure!
i applied luts in my videos and when i try to save my video in photo library the video is downloaded without luts just the orginal log video how can i download including luts??
Purchased your Luts!!, Can i Ask why my phone only provide with 13mm, 24mm, and 120mm not 50ish option
Also can we directly apply Luts to it while in the App?
Yes. I tell you that in the video.
@@JamieFenn I Choose the Luts in the display LUTs, while taking video the lut is applied to it however, when finished recording in the media file or in photo album still appear as Log file
Will the photo apps work on iPhone XR? Since the phone only has one camera
What about iPhone 11?
Should work on the XR. Obviously you won't record pro res though.
Hello 👋 I’m locked in to 9GB internal storage. I have a iPhone 15 256 with 190GB free space. How can I change this?
How do you get Apple LOG to appear under color space? All I see Is Rec 709 and P3 D65. This is the third video I have watched that glaze over this part. I have a 15 Pro. Any help would be appreciated.
First change it in Apple iOS settings
@@JamieFenn It is tuned on in the Camera settings. That is the first thing I did. There must be some other settings. I am sure I am the first of many who will be asking this exact same question.
i've seen this pop up on the internet, especially if you had the app installed on a previous phone before. reinstall should do the trick@@ImaginetMedia
@@ImaginetMedia what country are you in? I'm in Canada, and I can't see it but I can record Log in the stock camera app, I'm wondering if Blackmagic has some kind of regional release difference or something
@@KyleErickson I'm am in Canada as well. Yes, it shows in the stock camera app for me as weel, but not in the Blackmagic app.
Wai I don’t get this, my video footage I took is saving to my ssd good, but it’s saving without the LUT that I placed on it? Is that something I have to go in with editing later?
Yep, color correction and color grading on a editing app like Davinci Resolve
can you record vertical videos
Please watch the entire video
Is focus peaking available?
Watch the video please…
@@JamieFenn my bad.... just watched! Have you found -1 EV is better with Apple Log. Is there an advantage shooting ProRes HDR over Camera HDR? thanks.
Nope. I just keep it at 0
