Stewart is almost the only news I can watch anymore, I certainly look forward to the day I never hear about Trump again, Stewart shows the Buffoonary for what it is.
They're just filling airtime so they don't have to talk about the mass protests.

Jon Stewart’s criticism of network television and obsessive coverage of celebrities, including Donald Trump, is the exact reason I quit watching network and cable news a very long time ago. Since the widespread proliferation of the Internet, we just don’t need 24 hour news channel coverage anymore. A 30 minute daily briefing of what happened at Donald Trump’s criminal trial is all that’s needed. We don’t need to see live coverage of his limo driving to the courthouse, we don’t need to interview courtroom sketch artists who drew pictures of Trump in court, we don’t need to know what Trump ordered for lunch during the trial because all of that is insignificant and irrelevant.
Ratings matter
Jon Stewart is the best. Always pointing out the ridiculous aspects of life. And the news. Love him.

The thing with Jon Stewart is that even when I disagree with him; and there's plenty with which to disagree (his characterization of the Freedom From Religion Foundation as "petty assholes" comes to mind) I can tell he's coming from a place of genuine independent thought. There's no blind ideological conformity. He's just as willing to call out Trump's detractors as he is to call out Trump's apologists.
I agree ever since 45 came down those escalators CNN/FOX covered this guy every single day for the past 2920 days or 8 years and it's so annoying
One major reason why the media is covering Trump's every fart is the circumstance that since the 1980s, US news media does 24/7 coverage. While this is normal to Americans, it's actually quite unusual on an international level. Most developed countries (especially non-English speaking ones such as Germany, Japan, Sweden etc.) broadcast the news very differently. In these countries, the news usually aren't an entire TV-channel but merely a TV-program. So, a channel will have many different shows such as cooking shows, telenovelas etc. and the news is just one of them. News broadcasts typically last for about 30min in the evening, plus 5-min updates in the morning and around noon. This means every news story gets 3-5min at most. This includes brief interviews. Journalists are therefore forced to focus on the truly important stuff. They can't waste 15min on some irrelevant point because that's half of their program time. By contrast, broadcasting 24/7 is really hard in other ways. You quickly run out of things to say because there are simply not enough news to share with the audience. Thus, American journalists are forced to report on every fart.
I was on the tv guide this morning and typed in 200 for CNN. Literally they had a 3+ hour block of “trump hush money trial” while every other channel had the normal programming.
It's literally so sad and scary that this is the state of the biggest media company in this country.

I do find it interesting watching other trials that are streamed, like Chad Daybell currently, in all the chats tons of people want the people attending in person to describe his expressions etc. They will describe when he looks at his computer or how he holds his hands...

The mainstream media fixation with Donnie boy is rather absurd when they could be covering far more important issues, like the US slowly but almost surely being dragged into another possible escalating conflict in the middle east, its continued loss of reputation for enabling a genocide, its potential complicity in said genocide and war crimes, among many other issues. But sure, keep your audience distracted with that guy.

Main stream media presents the news as entertainment, mostly because we now have a twenty four hour news cycle, and they have to compete with every other news source dong the same thing. The internet news platforms are doing the same thing. Look at the titling for RUclips videos; "So and So Demolishes So and So to Their Face", and it's a clip of someone pointing out where someone in another clip, got it wrong. And since we saw both faces in split screen they were face to face? Everybody is fighting for the attention of a public that has no attention span.

Long for time I went about the day and the only news was at 6pm for local and 630pm for national. And READ the paper. That was all that was needed.
