What the poll and the media are missing is that the 15% who say they are 'more likely' to vote for Trump if he was convicted were already 100% going to vote for Trump. So that gain is a mirage.

About those polls: Those voters who are telling pollsters that they are now MORE likely to vote for Trump - most of them were going to vote for him anyway. They are saying that they are more enthusiastic about their vote. But enthusiastic votes count the same as ambivalent ones. I suspect that the "less likely" responders reflect people genuinely rethinking their vote according to new information.
About those polls. They total to 126%. Do you trust these numbers??? Out of a possible 100% they got 126............

You blame one man, and apparently to a lesser extent a party, but IMO that's not correct. IMO, blame is equally spread across the entire US society. Democracy is at stake. But democracy isn't something set in stone, something someone else or some authority keeps up. It's something every single member of society needs to actively support. When almost half of all people in the US - including some SCOTUS judges - apparently no longer understands what democracy is, or is no longer willing to defend it, even when their very job is to defend it, you can't blame just a subset of all people.

And the jury was vetted and approved by both the defense and the plaintiff. This would mean that if the trial was unfair, then his own defense lawyers set him up because in the end, they approved the jury! 🤔
Half the jury members said they couldn't put their impartiality aside. Each side can only remove so many jurors to prevent a stall tactic but it can backfire like this

The legislative body in America needs change the law to say no convict can hold office of any kind and clean up the supreme court. Those two things would help restore some faith in government.

And yes, it's that simple and yet another reason we should ditch this archaic, racist, anti-democratic relic of our past political organization.
If you'd like to dissolve the Union because of this feel free, you're literally proving yet another flaw in the amalgam of compromise that is our government. I'd suggest that there'd be a popular backlash against this sentiment that would necessarily prevent this from happening.

Think of it this way…
Poll numbers are neither right nor wrong. They’re independent of actual election results.
Do not try to bend the spoon. That is impossible. Instead, try to remember the truth.

Summations of polls are almost invariably right, but it is not always clear what reality that they represent. Rational people would question someone who claimed to be devout Christian but has been married 3 times; they’d question whether ‘a successful businessman’ would really have business failures to the extent he has had - whether chapter 11 really is a clever business strategy or not etc…. And on a more basic level, they’d see what most of the rest of us see - lies, contradictions and diversions - most of which are self evident if you pay attention to his own words over a period of time.

I think that the biggest thing that will affect Trump as a candidate will if he is incarcerated and out of the spotlight. Trump voters are extreme, but they have very short memories. Consider the shrinking size of his rallys and the shrinking number of protesters. Extremists have to be kept riled or they lose interest. If Trump is absent even for a few weeks, they will start to lose interest.

A lot of times I wonder about our government and if there honest with us or not. The Bible says "give to Caesar what is Caesars, Give to Rome what is Rome's". That means a government has the right to tax us to protect us and run the government. We have to trust our government and the judicial system that protects us because it self governing checks built into it. If we as a collective start attacking our government, We will be like Rome and the government will collapse, will not be able to function or rule. With all the propaganda flying around from both sides of the Trump trial. I just hope, and believe we did the right thing to Trump. The biggest fact over all for me he said he wanted to be a dictator and looks up to Hitler and Kim Jong-un with that said. It doesn't master to me how they get Trump out of the Whitehouse and in the Big house or keep him from running in the 2024 election. I don't want Trump anywhere near the Whitehouse.

Personally I think voters should consider how this affects the likelihood of him trying to remain office even more if elected. If it was a risk two days ago, that he might try, it is absolutely a greater risk today.

How he built up and acted on January 6 is indeed part of it.
The fact that he has floated the idea of third (or fourth) terms multiple times over many years now.
How he clearly does not like staying within the democratic norms.

Edit: Just look at what Netanyahu is doing, and it has happened in multiple countries. When a leader faces criminal issues after a term is over, there is absolutely a bigger risk of someone trying to go beyond the democratic norm. There's tons of examples of this in history, both old and recent. What makes you think The United States is above this kind of mentality? Trump people are trashing the jurors but actually the jurors are a a group of well-educated people. A cross-section of bankers, lawyers, engineers, teachers and professionals from a variety of different backgrounds made up a more than qualified group of American people. Perhaps, this accounts for the short deliberation.
Trump's people trash absolutely anyone, no matter how well-respected otherwise, if they don't agree with Trump. Supporting Trump is quite black-and-white to them, "either you're for us or you're against us." And if Trump himself denigrates someone, his fans do it too, even if they-- even if Trump himself-- staunchly supported them previously.
Its not just the conviction, they need to be convinced its a legit conviction and that doesnt seem to be happening

As a New Yorker, I've known of this man for decades, and for decades, I've considered him contemptable. Everything that is being made public now only serve to reinforce that opinion! I am convinced that those who support him may be divided into three groups:
(a) the poorly educated, (remember, in 2016, polls showed he was supported by that group, and he even said that he loved them);
(b) the xenophobes, anti-Semites and white supremacists, who recognize him as one of them; and
(c) the well-educated, ambitious but morally lacking persons who would love to emulate the oligarchs, (as in Putin's Russia)!
I am convinced that if Trump were to ever attain the presidency again, it would be the end of democracy in America! Trump, and those succeeding him, would be the American versions of Putin, Xi or Kim!
