I know im randomly asking but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb lost the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Jaziel Ephraim Instablaster =)
@Bo Huxley I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Bo Huxley it worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account!
@Jaziel Ephraim Glad I could help :)
Pressure test the water system when cold. If it holds for 30minutes head gaskets should be fine. If radiator has built in oil cooler I would send it away for cleaning and pressure testing if possible.
When you overheated it that's when the oil would have been emulsified. All and every oil drop made its way to the expansion tank. Shame you didnt check the header when you first got it.
Beat me too it.
If not overheated, can t be the gasgets, one should really see the lights and gages to show it.
If not overheated, can t be the gasgets, one should really see the lights and gages to show it.
If the radiator incorporates an oil cooler your problem maybe there. Fingers crossed
Just a thought - years ago, I had a similar problem with the wife's Opel Rekord Station Wagon: it turned out to be the water pump housing on the front of the engine that (for some obscure reason) had oil and water channels in close proximity. Corrosion caused a hole to develop and presumably because of the higher oil pressure, the oil got into the water (rather than the other way round). Replacing the housing solved the problem. It may be worthwhile looking for any weird 'attachments' to your engine's block or heads that might have similar channels.... a long shot, but still...
Traumatic bonding occurs as the result of ongoing cycles of abuse in which the intermittent reinforcement of reward and punishment creates powerful emotional bonds that are resistant to change. Pretty much defines owning an Italian car. Once again great video and good luck with the gaskets
Thanks!! Love the idea of traumatic bonding!!
@@Number27 I can't take credit for that quote I think it was on a petrolicious video. So true though.
I have never seen a better description of the emotional roller coaster that is old ferrari ownedship. If he ever decides to leave the car then counselling will be needed and a safe retreat to recover from the experience. The parting can be as traumatic as the relationship
Just had a thought, the gunk might be coming from your water pump bearings. If they used loads of coolent when they machined out that Union it might have found its way through and into the cavity between the bearings. That stuff tracks through and rots cables on CNCs at work. It looks a bit soapy in your video too.
Codependent relationship
Your perseverance is infectious. Inspires me with my project car. Looking forward to the next video.
Definitely the most beautiful of all the Ferraris. Perfect styling.
Nope, Daytona
Well on the plus side, there’s going to be some great content coming up! All the best of luck with it 😄
Thanks Nick... changing the exhaust would have been great content too!!
Thank you for all you video and updates, I have been watching and keeping my fingers crossed for you, I am sure someone will help you out with the issue, take care, keep up the good work.
As my wife would say when facing a crisis. Just throw money at it!
Another brilliant video! Give it a go, flush the system, change the coolant and the car may just surprise you. The oil may have accidentally gone into the coolant in error sometime in the past. Ive got my fingers crossed for you.
Thanks Henry,. Let’s see..
Praise Jesus 🙏😄
Best of luck to you sorting this.
Really really enjoying your channel and your adventures. I find you very easy to listen to and I love your zest and passion to get the Influenzo sorted. Best of luck and look forward to the next instalment 👍
Thanks Rob!!
2 things
Air bubbles in expansion chamber when running ?
=head gasket
Get a gauge which fits to the coolant cap. Pressure system, start engine. Pressure goes up head gasket.
Sludgy =some idiot not you mixed the coolant with 2 different types
Sound advice ! 👍
Will look into it!!
Good tip! I was about to say that or even just feel if the hoses on the cooling system goes hard when hot. If so, head gasket. Often oil in the water is just a sloppy job when heads where removed the last time and had oil in water. DO NOT PANIC! Think!
Whenever I've had oil in the water, it's been oil leaking into the coolant section of the oil cooler. Happened several times.
The oil system works at a higher pressure than the cooling system, which explains the direction of travel.
I am not convinced you have head gasket issues.
You'd also get rough running on idle, and/or a bit more steam.
Good luck.
Absolutely this!
@@Z4NL Not always exactly this - you get steam when the water comes into the combustion chamber. It's possible for a head gasket to fail between an oil and water pathway and this is why the car will continue to run fine.
same here mate, id be looking for an oil cooler issue if there was one fitted.
I've got my fingers crossed for you Jack! Hope this turns out okay for you bud 👍
And the adventure continues...this car has grown on me like a child that constantly needs tender loving care and hope she doesn't get sick. She is a beauty and deserves to get fixed. Can't wait for the next video!
Flush coolant, refill, run again.. If same contamination you've got problem. Coukd of been contaminated by your working on water pump
It could well be an oil cooler leaking in toyour water system well worth a check
Every VW vr6 and 1.8t owners prayer in these situations that is 😂
Had this on my T4. New oil cooler & job done. I've no idea if the fezza has an air or water cooled oil cooler though
Definitely worth checking. Let's hope he sees this. Also, could it be a mix of old crappy and wrong coolant mixing with new correct grade coolant?
The 308 oil cooler doesn't use water.
Thanks for the tip but the only place oil and water runs alongside each other is the block...
Really enjoying your videos! Keep em coming. Really looking forward to the rest of the Influenzo journey 😁
Thanks!!
Love these videos, keep them coming. Stay determined.
Strange, the oil going only one way. Flush it again and Good luck.
You have an amazing two car garage 🔥
Thank you!
I feel your pain, this video flashed me back to the morning I started my 996.2 and it was down cylinder five- to then find out that it was just a 996 failure statistic. Hoping for the best for you and for Influenzo!
Just watched the whole series this afternoon - prefect hangover material. Nice one.
Awesome, thanks for watching Jeff!!
I'd say you have the room in the garage to get the engine out. Good project, less depressing job while it's summer too!
Not sure I do have room.. looking into it carefully!
I pulled a range rover engine in a single garage that was only 1 brick wider than the single door, your garage is much wider
Leave the car on the drive and work on the engine in the garage.
Sorry to say this but I actually love when you have issues with the InfluEnzo.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 - he’s doing ti to keep you all entertained!
Another great video - best of luck sorting this out - feeling your frustration.
I hope you get it sorted. Enjoying watching the videos and seeing how ownership of my favourite car can be.
A cheap Ferrari.. what could go wrong ?
Exactly... they never ever break.
Like a cheap bmw but way more expensive haha
The same things that go wrong on an expensive Ferrari 😂
It is sed there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Ferrari 👍good luck
If you can't afford a new Ferrari, you certainly can't afford an old one...
Vinny Bologna I definitely can’t afford a new one but have ran three sequentially for over 15 years 🤔
@@malcholden5357 and are they mechanically sound?
I know a few folk with desirable european sports cars that are in really shocking mechanical condition - worn suspension and drivetrain, gearshift like a handful of spaghetti but they look impressive...
I'd love a 246GTS and have wanted one for over 40 years , but then I do my own mechanical work and realise what it takes to keep europian vehicles on the road.
I'd rather have a VW that drives properly than a Dino that has to be towed more than driven.
Vinny Bologna I’ve owned a Mondial, an F355 and currently a 360. I’ve only driven them in the country I live in (UK) but then I’ve never driven any car I’ve personally owned outside the U.K.
I called the breakdown service for the Mondial once in 5 years but fixed it before they arrived and cancelled it.
They weren’t problem free but what old car is (in fact new cars can be problematic)? The Mondial was 21 when I bought it and 27 when I sold it.
Of course they’re not cheap to run, but are if cared for, reliable.
Keep going, I’m enjoying your positive outlook. Hoping it’s just a flush of the system.
What a great series of videos.I'm hooked. Thank you .
Agreed with you, flush the old coolant out. On replacing it add some ‘steel seal’. It works really well to seal any leaks. Worth a try. Good luck...
www.steelseal.co.uk/
For gods sake don’t put that shit in it
1. Do not put any "sealants" in the cooling system. It will not help if it is a head gasket and it will make a HUGE mess in the cooling system that is difficult to clean out. That water pump would be coming off again for a deep clean.
2. The posts about checking for bubbles while the engine is hot and running is sound advice. A blown head gasket will result in combustion gasses in the cooling system.
3. If you flush the cooling system, use a detergent to get most of the oil residue out. I have an early 996 Porsche 911 that is prone to cracked heads. There are several threads on the internet about flushing the complex cooling system. The oil will eventually degrade the rubber hoses. They will get soft, swell, and eventually fail.
4. If it is a head gasket or oil cooler leak, the reasons you are not seeing water in the oil is because oil pressure is higher than coolant system pressure while the engine is running. Water will get in the oil after the engine is shut down and oil pressure drops to zero while coolant pressure remains around 15 psig. If the leak is very small or is very recent and the coolant system has not undergone many heat cycles, the amount of water that has migrated into the oil is small enough that it evaporates when the engine gets hot. It will eventually show up under the oil fill cap. The sooner you diagnose and repair, the better.
Hope this helps. Eric
Thanks for the lengthy message and advice Eric. Have a great weekend!
I’m soo sorry to hear this! Your patience is amazing!
Nice video and a good update. Good luck with the fix!
Have been really enjoying your journey with the Influenzo, always great to watch keep up the good work and finger crossed it’s nothing major! If you need a cylinder head sniffer tester I have one you could borrow!
Feeling the rollercoaster with you. Its a beautiful car, and I am really enjoying the content of these videos. New to the channel since the Ferrari story began, but its been a blast. Hopefully its sorted without too much pain (financial or physical!) and we can look forward to that new exhaust!
Thank you!!
Good luck getting this sorted, you will get there.
Fingers crossed that a coolant flush will sort your problems out.
Engine out and head gaskets will be costly and in your garage quite difficult/almost impossible but its challenges like this that make completing the task so much more rewarding.
Can’t wait for the next update, keep them coming
I weep with you brother I’ve made many of the same mistakes in running a car that has been sitting around... I have the scars from bloody hands to prove it Keep fighting on!!
i admire your persistent on fixing the head gaskets! a true car enthusiast tries to do as much work as possible on his vehicle if time and money 💰 permits! good luck on the job ahead 👍
Nice thing about the 308 is that the engine can come out from up top, so you could do it in your garage. You need what we call a cherry picker (engine crane). It's a fairly straightforward job, the car should be around 18" up on jack stands. Replacing the head studs is always a good idea. You can also flush the coolant more often and just enjoy the car for awhile. As long as there is no water in the oil, it's not as bad.
Don’t think I have the room or height to get the engine out. I have an engine lift but can’t see how i could get it all to fit
Another great video, best of luck with the next step, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Blimey, there are more cliffhangers than on a TV drama! Well made videos and excellently presented (IMO!).
Thank you 🙏 John!
Never a dull week. All great stuff and it will all come right. I don’t think it is as bad as you think. You can do it💪
Keeping everything crossed that flushing the system works for you Jack!
We feel your pain man. When everything finally comes together, it will be a joy. Not just for you, but for all of us.
I must say, you seem to be having a really good time with the Car and all the challenges, good on you!... I would have thrown things by now😆
Don’t give up. I’m forever glued to my phone for your latest videos.
It’s a shame that all the issues your are having make for great content. I personally love the car and really hope you do get it running without any more issues. Your motivation towards getting the car fixed is infectious. Cannot wait to see the next chapter. 👍
Hope it's not to painful for you Jack. As said, keep smiling and good luck.
Really enjoying the videos. Good luck with it. I had a new 205 GTI in 1990 (!) - G750 GOK. Great cars.
Thanks chap!!
I know how you feel, went through the same set of emotions when I discovered steam coming out the back of my Triumph Stag, but these things can all be fixed. Good luck!
Feel ur pain just spent over £3k with the same problem had oil in expansion but nowhere else but in the end changed all hoses(which is well advisable after having boiling oil running through them)and a rad and a head skim and a new oil cooler which was probably the 1st point of failure!!
Good luck on and I admire ur continuing love for the 308
Great update about bad news, I feel your pain, its always disappointing to have unexpected repairs. BTW you have loads of room for an engine rebuild, just knock through the garage into the house. You could also get a 4 post lift in the garage if you build upwards 😁
🤣🤣🤣
Another thumbs up to the oil cooler leaking oil into the water system. As others have said, this is a fairly common fault on VAG cars....fingers crossed it's a similar issue on the InfluEnzo. The fact that there's no water in the oil points to this being a potential cause.
It's like watching a deeply engrossing drama series. Best of luck resolving the issues. Can't wait to see the influenzo running well!
Hi Jack, good luck! I had also strange stuff in the tank and flushing it helped. So there is very good chance for your car as well :-) Big respect for you, I would not be able to maintain the car myself, like you do.
Great story Jack, and thank you. Ironically, this video reminds me of the time I took my 205 GTi into the dealer for the same issue - sludge under the radiator filler cap. No sign of coolant getting into the oil. It never did get any worse, with no complaints from the car. Best of luck. We're all looking for a happy outcome 👍😊 Videos like these put everything into a real world perspective. Great stuff. BTW, I know it's the 308 and not the 205 in this case.
Cheers David!!
Look forward to the exhaust upgrade, you'll get there! A classic sports car can be a real killer but if you keep your chin up as well as your motivation you will get past the worst that needs to be done. Trouble free happy motoring will follow.
Good luck with it mate. I'm really enjoying following your 'adventure' with this car. I really hope you can get it sorted without a huge amount of time or expense. I've always thought the 308 to be an absolutely beautiful car. I hope you get years of enjoyment from it - eventually.
In any case, it looks like your channel is doing well, with more than 24K subscribers...
Thanks Roger.. it’s gone up about 10k since I got the InffluEnzo!
I love the way you always have a brave face on, fingers crossed the flushing will be a good result!
Best of Luck Mate.
I know the feeling. I had the basically same problem. Blown head gasket on #3. Oil and water not mixing but it was blowing compression gas into water jacket. Check compression again. If can use a bore scope if pistons showing any problems and flush out Cooling Systems Again.
Best of Luck.
Wishing Both You and All at Home Good Health.
Sorry to hear this mate, don't let it get you down there's still hope to fix it without removing the engine, exhaust all other options first, do some more diagnostics as you said, plus plenty of good advice in the comment section to try out, fingers crossed for you!
Gaaahhhh - you are hooked, I can tell. I had the same advice as you say at the end - complete coolant flush and refill, followed by some road use. The obvious place where oil and water meet is at the point where the video started - the water pump assembly. Get an exhaust gas and hydrocarbons sensor check done on the coolant after a road run to eliminate the head gaskets as the source. Also, have a look for very fine bubbles appearing in the coolant whilst the engine is running.
Your courage in continuing with this car is fantastic
Sorry to say this but I’m enjoying the roller coaster of emotions that the car is creating, thank you for the videos, they are very informative and entertaining and love that you keep smiling!
Great channel and keep going the reward will outweigh the pain 👍🏻
Lots of great advice being offered. Resist the urge to dive in to surgery. Try all the simple, gentle options first, up to and including those magic head gasket sealers (they often work, if that even winds up being the actual problem). Best wishes from Canada.
Thanks Bob!! Enjoy Canada 🇨🇦!
So excited that you’ve posted another vid...
Good luck hope you get it sorted. Keep us updated if the flushing out works.
Forza influenzo👍 My 205Gti had head gasket woes and I hope the 308 has a good outcome. Best of luck.
Another cracking video,if the engine needs to come out,it would be great to see you do the rebuild work, hope you can find room in that garage?! Best wishes to you.
Sorry to hear about the setback. Mine had HGF at about 70k miles when my dad owned it. It happened during a long run back from France during which the car continued to run pretty much fine. In the end it went to a specialist to be done - engine removal and as you have intimated, the heads were well stuck on. If I was doing it now I'd find some space, get the engine out and on the bench and do a light rebuild yourself - refresh the heads, hone the bores, new rings, crank shells and seals. It'll still come out miles cheaper than paying a specialist and would be a great project. I'll even buy a T-shirt to help fund it!
Flushing the system is definitely a must, if the sludge congregates in your radiator no cooling system and game over, would definitely be doing that before any more road runs. Brilliant update video and wishing you all the best, chin up. PS where about sin the world are you, as was thinking about your single garage and needing space, might be able to help
I’m in Oxford!!
I’m Northampton, 5-10 minutes from silverstone
Got to love the passion of this guy. Love it when an enthusiast gets their hands dirty and stuck in rather than an unlimited bank balance to pay someone else. Do miss my GTSi - a great experience :-(
Hello from the US, really enjoying your videos. Good luck!
Thanks Jeff... love the 🇺🇸 !! Hope to come and ape and time there again soon. Enjoy your great country.
Good luck with it, it seems to be very trying but I am sure you will get it sorted out 👍🏻
Hey! Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad run with your 308. I’ve owned my 85 GTSi QV for over 8 years now and I love it. I have my own adventures and stories to tell as you can imagine, but I still love my car.
Never give up! Influenzo deserves it.. Keep fighting!! 👍👍👍💪💪💪
I don't know about this particular Ferrari model but some of them have an oil cooler/heat exchanger that can cause this kind of problem, I would look into that. A leaking head gasket is more likely to contaminate the oil with water than the other way around. Good luck and keep up the good work, enjoying the videos very much!
Enjoying the vids. You are assured of my support. As long as you do another video recanting everything you said about the Mercedes SL, which, I think you'll agree, on reflection, is a fantastic car.
Ha!! I hated my SL as you know. BUT I get why people like them!
Hey! Love your videos, keep them coming, the 308 is such a beautiful looking car!
Thank you Paul!!
I’m loving this and having a similar love/hate relationship with a Ford Puma (Much cheaper for parts though lol) I’ll have t.shirt if you get them done... Happy to contribute towards the cause 👍🏻
Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing if the flush through does anything 😊
Thanks Graham!!
For the full workspace for hire try: 'This is your garage'. Seen it used before by other RUclips channels like CT.
Love your vids and your work tho!! Good luck :)
Oh no! The frustration of these self-inflicted (if that’s what it was) mishaps is surpassed only by the elation at fixing them on the cheap. Keep at it Jack 👍🏻
I almost cried watching this. I've been here since the beginning of this story and I keep looking forward to the time you can just enjoy the car. I really really really hope it's not the head gasket for you. Fingers crossed. I would buy a t shirt if it comes to it to help out or I would also chuck into a fundraiser if it is the head gasket. I'm sure others would too. Let's hope the problem is not as bad as it initially looked
Thanks Dennis! thanks for following buddy!
Gutted for you but look on the bright side... You can still keep churning us out these great videos about your Ferrari. Best of luck
Thanks for the video. As you got the fuel and water pump mixed up in your commentary, perhaps the previous owner got the water and oil fillers mixed up as well Haha. Thanks again. Regards, Bob M. South Wales
🤣🤣🤣
Really enjoying these influenza videos! I don’t think you have head gasket issues, engine runs and drives to smoothly for that I think.
Like you say, flush the system through and observe, you don’t know how long that’s been there either.
I would also look at the radiator / oil cooler setup as a potential point of crossover.
Good luck! Really hope you get it sorted (and the exhaust!) it’s a cracking car really !!
Thanks!! Update video is coming soon..!!
Gutted for you. Hope it's just the head gaskets. Holding thumbs and can't wait for the next episode.
For someone who is not in the least bit mechanically minded, I’ve been really enjoying these videos. Good luck with getting this problem sorted!
Thank you buddy 🙏
Just another bump on life’s highway. As long as you have the time, go for the DIY repair. Flush & Flush again the cooling system, you never know what repair has been done prior to your ownership. YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!👍👍
I remember seeing there are test kits (it detects gas in the system I think) that can 100% confirm if the head gaskets have gone. Look into it
Put me down for a t-shirt Jack - the least I can do for the lockdown entertainment!
Really enjoying these videos. Hope you can find the cause and effect a sure as soon as possible. Even after Ferrari Specialist repair you are money ahead in that the Influenzo remains more valuable than the initial cost of the car and the subsequent repairs.
Thanks Russel!!
Love these video’s, I’m a Brit living in California and this guy is just the epitome of home. “Adventures with Mr Bean after he buys a Ferrari” I just love it. Thankyou for the endless optimism and great video’s :-)
Thanks Michael!! I’ll take the Mr Bean reference, after all Rowan Atkinson had a Maclaren F1!!
Number 27 Indeed, he has a great sense of humor and a keen appreciation for beautiful cars, much like yourself 👍🏻 We live in Santa Barbara BTW saving-up for that Cybertruck / if you’re out here in a couple of years happy to do a review ! Good luck with that GTO
Another great watch. I do hope it turns out to not be an engine out job for you
Fingers crossed all will be sorted soon 🤞🏼
