Right on the money, Dr. Malik! Both very informative and timely. My DHEA is going in the bin. Can't wait for the Fenugreek video, since that is the last supplement I'm taking after ditching Maca, Boron, and now, DHEA. Haven't ditched exercise yet, just wish it came from Amazon in a bottle.
Boron is supposed to lower SHBG therefore increase free testosterone if you can believe the only one study about it. Even if it does that (and it is a big "if") it would not increase total testosterone.
I have had blood Work and needed DHEA and Pregnenolone and using it for years and my blood work shows its top of range and I feel better. So to each there own. My blood work doesn't lie.
Thank you Dr Malik. This was what I needed to hear. As a 62 yr old man, I have used these supplements over the years only to find out they did nothing for me except make me sick. I got sucked into the advertising like many men. I am done with them for good. I am going to watch the rest of your video series on the subject. You’re the Dr. that us men needed to hear this from. Thank you!
48 year old male on DIM, Boron, and DHEA for 18 months. My estradiol is down while free T and total T are both up significantly since beginning. LDL has also gone down slightly while HDL is slightly up. Don’t know however how much of all of this is due to my having started working out again a few months prior to beginning daily supplementation.
Here is what works for my healthy hormonal balance as a man: Longjack, Tribulus, ashwagandha, Maca roots, 2-3 grams of proteins per kilo body weight. I am currently doing somewhat low carb diet (110-130 grams carbs per day) and from experience, this is keeping me lean but also having a toll on my sxx drive where as, if I just go full carbs mode, my sxx drive will go significantly up but it will also mean I start getting belly fat and overall more fat. I like my current body fat %, I think it's around 10%-15% now and if I go full on carbs, it will become more like 17%-23% and my chest will start to get gyno. Obviously I am way stronger in the gym when I eat lots of carbs and I get a lot of respect from the males around me, some of them don't even dare to make eyecontact when I am bulked up with carbs, but I prefer being more lean and less stronger, it looks more healthy in the mirror, the only downside is the less respect you get, as a male in the city walking out at night, you obviously feel less anxious when you're bulked up which is another side effect from low carbs, it will make you feel slightly more anxious and slightly less confident, that's why I also sometimes use reishi and L-theanine on a daily basis, if the angst starts creeping up too much. My bloodwork shows 16,15 on free test and 0,305 (I think it's around 450 on American metric?) on total test, I believe my test is on the low end and I feel absolutely horrible without all these supplements mentioned above + vitamin B1, b2 and b3 niacin + magnesium. Doctors refuse to listen and help me out, because I am still within "normal T range", I think it's odd doctors ignores my health issues and that I am forced to spend so much money on supplements just to function on a daily basis, but that's danish healthcare in a nutshell. If I were a female and asked for hormones because I identify as a male, I would get instant help for hormonal treatment. It's a wicked world we live in.
I’m 48 female and I found out my Testosterone level is abnormally low. I’ve been very tired lately so I asked my MD to order some bloodwork such as Vit D level, iron, B12, CBC, chem, lipid profile and premenopausal hormones. I googled Supplements and DHEA came up so I decided to give it a try. I took the first dose 10 mg/day and immediately felt a difference. After 1 hour of taking it, I actually went to the gym after not being able to work out for almost a year because I’ve been so tired. Been going to the gym for the past 4 days. I feel energized. Is it psychological? -I seriously doubt it. My hormones will be checked again in 6 months
Taking DHEA and Pregnenolone and something is happening...58 years old and never had any problems with function...wind can blow...anyway now I have seen an increase...its like being in high school again. Testosterone was 762 at lab. Little agression unfortonately. Extreme morning wood.

Funny here in Canada you need a prescription for dhea and it’s often not covered by medical plans. Has to be compounded and costs a bit…which sucks I’m on 100 mg a day
Testosterone eventually converts to estradiol and DHT. If you increase testosterone, don't be surprised about increased estradiol. It's the ratio that matters. You can reduce the conversion ro DHT or estradiol via several ways.
Yeah, that's true, but your test has to be a fair bit higher for estradiol to go higher. Just using something like DHEA isn't going to get your test level high enough for that. And even if you were on TRT having higher estradiol in and of itself is not really a problem for most (maybe a few exceptions).
Get in line, buddy -- I'm waiting for the garlic video. The guy in front of us both is waiting for the Spanish fly vid, and he's behind the guy waiting for the shark-fin vid.
Thanks, Dr. Malik... What I'd like to see is a protocol for increasing test by age, and activity levels of supplements like DHEA, pregnenalone, etc., and even glutamine. TRT isn't always an option as it is expensive, and some may just not want to go that route. And things that ordinarily might not ve recommended for younger guys, might be very beneficial for older men. Also, there are plenty of discussions about TRT protocols, and debunking test boosters, etc., but not typically an outline of what guys should be doing.
I don't think you realize how difficult it is to set up testosterone injections. First, only a handful of doctors, usually at specialist clinics, will even entertain the notion. Overall it took me nearly six months (in Phoenix, AZ) to finally get this organized. To say they have changed my life is an understatement. I went from being lethargic, depressed and mentally woolly to feeling alert, motivated and sharp. I now fully appreciate why many women benefit from HRT. We are not meant to run with suppressed hormone levels and it's time doctors woke up to this fact. As for negative effects, I would rather lose a few years than live out my life as a the walking zombie I had become.
My wife injects me every 21 days. It's so easy It's pathetic. Alternating but sides. If not you can inject yourself in your legs upper portion. Again so easy. I don't feel a thing when my wife does it. Not even a pinch. Get the individual viles of 1ml. Get the syringes with the 18 gauge needle on them to take the liquid out of of the vile and get the 23 gauge needles to inject. After the syringe is full with the 1ml, switch needles to the 23 gauge needle, purge the air out and inject. 5 minutes tops. Beats driving to and from the Dr's offices. Doing it for almost 2 years now. Any questions feel free to ask me.
My experience with supplements and elevating my T in general is initially you'll see results, then you'll actually have more problems than before due to elevated estradiol, which will then require an aromatase inhibitor for a while until your body normalizes. Best to get a doctor involved and get labs so you're not shooting in the dark guys.
I take prescribed low dose testosterone Cypionate and low does nandralone for my trt and joints works amazing. I added 100mg a week of primoboline for weight loss and estrogen control and more muscle building properties, I take HCG on Sundays
DHEA is the mother of all hormones. Just a base as I understand it. Since testosterone and all hormones are produced from cholesterol. I add DHEA just to keep it in optimal range. Since men DHEA levels go south as we age. Also, DHEA has other benefits to the human body .

DHEA is a pro hormone. I dont know what my Testosterone level is because I don't care about the number. Focusing on the number is the wrong approach as everyone is different. How you feel and function should be the ultimate guideline.
I would say yes & no. If you have no symptoms, don't check the number, because even "low" might work for you, you may be more sensitive to it etc. But if one does have symptoms, (I'm being a hypocrite here) one should check levels first before trying to up levels. I agree. The normal range is so wide that if you get your levels checked and you are just in the lower normal range a doctor will say your fine. But if you don’t feel fine that maybe you had been at the upper end of the normal range and actually this is a third or less of what you are used to hence why you feel low. So I agree numbers are only a guide, how you feel is a more important compared to your normal. Only way numbers could help is if you had your levels checked at a younger age so you know what is normal for you, then years later you know if your low for you if even in the normal range. Also testosterone to estrogen ratio is important than actual test levels. You can have high test and high estrogen and feel terrible because the balance is off and you just need to reduce estrogen levels.
My doctor sells Metagenics EPA Capsules. Says that DHA actually impedes the good affects of EPA so I take daily EPA Capsule every morning. I should take 3 every morning but the price has increased and can’t afford to take 2 every morning. Doctor says it’s still good. It’s omega fatty acid supplement. I don’t know if it affects testosterone but good for brain.
I used to take Androstendione back in 2002 - 2004, with working out. As Dr. Malik states, it was OTC, I purchased it from GNC. Typical use, you would work out about a month to three months before starting a daily regime (to get testosterone function working well). You had to work out because once you stopped, you testosterone would drop to normal...and then the androstendione would convert to estrogen. It only happened once to me, but boy...talk about sad.
I know it’s anecdotal but taking dhea has been great for me. I cycle on and off, but when I’m taking it I’m more ripped and have more energy. It makes my engine burn hot tho so I don’t take it full time.
I had to be put on TRT due to my testosterone being at 23ng/dl. Free test never registered and my estrogen didn’t register. I was in a state of absolute severe depression. Tried every test booster and pro hormone I could find that studies said worked but nothing helped. TRT (200mg/wk) was the only thing that helped me. Now I’m a 557ng/dl 3 months in. I wished the test boosters worked but it doesn’t work for everyone.
Thank you for using your knowledge to help so many men. I'm curious if you've investigated red light therapy directly to the testicles? This topic has been discussed by various media outlets, but I can't find credible research on the subject. The closest is an article from 2022 in JMIR Dermatol, but it's focus is UV radiation exposure to the testicles and not red light. Red light research in general is obtainable, but I don't have the medical background to understand if the applications of this therapy would have any potential benefits if used directly on the testicles. Just curious if you had any thoughts.
I tried all the natural remedies nothing really worked...maybe maca and boron....but thats about it....got my blood work im hypogonadal at 32 got prescribed enclomaphine hopefully itll put me whre i need to be
Are you going to cover Clomiphene Citrate? I used that a few years ago with great results. Lost fat gained muscle. Kick starts your own body's ability to produce more testosterone.
DHEA has many benefits, besides (NOT) boosting Test. for example, it clearly improves mood and alertness, and also directly activates the BDNF receptor in the brain, which is in itself extremely valuable. HOWEVER supplemental DHEA also has considerable risk, and can cause kidney damage and dementia via ferroptosis for example. look it up.
Dr. Malik, I really enjoy watching your videos and your dedication to providing us with sound science backed information. But I do wish you would also disclose who funded each of these studies because that can provide a more informative context for the results provided. While the scientific method is sound, that does not mean that hidden agendas and funding cannot affect the results. There are dozens of examples of this in the literature including in major publications.
What about enclomiphene citrate? What’s your opinion on this? I know the FDA didn’t approve it, but studies have shown it to be effective and without the negative side effects of Clomid.
I do take dhea as a supplement but not to boost testosterone I take it as a second form of fish oil for overall brain health, helps prevent stroke, lower triglycerides, and helps prevent heart disease. I take testosterone shots to boost testosterone, it’s easier.
@@drew2fast489 I’m 47 years old, long term for me is maybe 20 more years if I make it that long in this crazy old world. I keep my test shots somewhere between 175mgs to 300mgs a week depending on where my training is at. I’m absolutely healthy as a horse at my age and consistently outperform guys half my age in the gym.
Untreated estrogen in drinking water from birth control pills, higher stress, lack of pheromones from females on BC cause males to produce less testosterone
What about dhea's impact on the thymus? Really seems to matter if you want to live longer and well. Perhaps an aromatase inhibitor like DIM for estrogen issues?
I find that many adaptogens work in the opposite direction for me. Ashwaganda, ginseng, turn me into a slow, sad, weak mess. Tribulus, and fenugreek crank me up but kill my erections. How will DHEA be different?
I question the validity of the so called test data of DHEA Because according to NIH-National Library of Medicine This was there conclusion; These results demonstrate acute oral DHEA supplementation can elevate free testosterone levels in middle-aged men and prevent it from declining during HIIT. Therefore, DHEA supplementation may have significant benefits related to HIIT adaptation. So if one is exercising/lifting weights they may see a benefit In addition to these recent studies of Tongkat Ali & Fadogia Agrestis supplemented have been shown to increase testosterone levels. Fadogia agrestis is reported to be beneficial for boosting testosterone levels in men by increasing the release of luteinizing hormone, which stimulates the leydig cells in the testes to produce more testosterone. It can also potentially enhance LH receptor sensitivity, making it effective in both stimulating testosterone production and improving its release mechanisms
You could merely eat (red) meat, and live actively, perhaps even lift heavy. But hey, pills are always the answer these days. Not a bad breakdown of the effects by the way. A truth, as things are, is that what you use to replace what your body is supposed to do naturally, will stunt said ability; therefore said body will adapt to it. Not the end all be all example, abd there are other reasons for things to go the way they do. That said, it isn't too out of the ordinary for it to be discounted. Have a great week.
DHEA and Acytel-L-Carnitine do help boost T levels. they wont make your levels jump like T injections, but will get you a few points. best i saw was 30-45 points. DHEA is good for those of us over 40, and if you want something even better, NAD+ injections are amazing, along with MOTS-C, but you will need some deep pockets for that. I have problems with T injections. i get bloated, feel like i am on a roller coaster, and when its on the downside..... watch out... my Cholesterol levels do go up. i tried various versions, Depo-T being the better for sure. I got more side effects, or should say didn't see so many positives, as opposed to some friends of mine. each person is different.... Seriously NAD+ is no joke and is so great. Ipamorelan is also great too. You want a libido rush...... PT-141..... WOW becareful lol
Wow. Nearly 9 billion dollars of supplements are sold every year. I'm probably responsible for half of those sales myself. I better get on a budget. Thanks Rena.
I have just been found to have some small calcium build up in my arteries. I am 70 years old and have been lifting for over 50 years. I have always been natural but have made an appointment to see about TRT. I do have some brain fog and am losing muscle. Not very much sex drive any more. How would TRT effect my LDL? My doctor is putting me on meds to erode the calcium build up. Would it be wise to do the TRT?.

The Problem is I have been tested for the same and found to have reasonably good testosterone 200 whatever on the scale, but have the symptoms you state. So, why do I have the symptoms? Am I to assume that not unlike Menopause it's symptoms are variable that I could be low T and the test is a generality versus what is low and thus for each individual varies per person. Or is the test parameters so specific across the human spectrum that my testosterone really sufficient and thus some other issues is the culprit to my symptoms. Capiche?

My trt clinic tests for dhea and they tell us to take it along with testosterone if our levels are low.
What do you think about supplementing with DIM + DHEA to boost testosterone?
I was diagnosed with severely low testosterone at 27.
You are right, boosters don't work for everyone.. specially Ashwagandha
Excellent summary with researched - backed data. Thanks
Im on it; my t went up approx 600 points.
@@markmeme4275how long untook and how much
What do you suggest to lower testosterone? Mine is slightly elevated.
A week of the Home Shopping Network.
Raised my E2. Lowered my test and free test.
Thanks Doc. You’re the best 😊
Keen to see Tongkat Ali covered by somebody not sponsored by Momentous or similar.
Thanks Dr Malik. This is life saving education and priceless 🤸🏾♀️
DHEA for sure works for me, creatine and lifting all 3 with clean nutrition work. I'm 44
How about the ZMA?
good for sleep at night
DHEA has many benefits, besides (NOT) boosting Test. for example, it clearly improves mood and alertness, and also directly activates the BDNF receptor in the brain, which is in itself extremely valuable. HOWEVER supplemental DHEA also has considerable risk, and can cause kidney damage and dementia via ferroptosis for example. look it up.
I love it when "snake oil" is exposed for what it is! Thank you doctor. I look forward to more of these videos.
Ma'am you recommend from your end testosterone booster
Good to know, was gonna take some type of testosterone boosters but guessing I'll stick to working out and eating health..ish
I take DIM and DHEA and makes me feel like I'm 20 again
Me too
How many months did it take to feel the affects of dhea.
What about enclomiphene citrate? What’s your opinion on this? I know the FDA didn’t approve it, but studies have shown it to be effective and without the negative side effects of Clomid.
How about DAA, or D-Aspartic acid
If your hormones are not balanced, would DHEA be a good thing to supplement?
Does liquid Zink help with testosterone?
Hi Rena please talk about ED caused by SLEEP APNEA
I do take dhea as a supplement but not to boost testosterone I take it as a second form of fish oil for overall brain health, helps prevent stroke, lower triglycerides, and helps prevent heart disease. I take testosterone shots to boost testosterone, it’s easier.
Good luck with those T shots, long term...
@@drew2fast489 I’m 47 years old, long term for me is maybe 20 more years if I make it that long in this crazy old world. I also take supplements, eat healthy foods, do not drink alcohol or take any other drugs like pot, cocaine, meth, or any other prescription medications from a doctor. I keep my test shots somewhere between 175mgs to 300mgs a week depending on where my training is at. I’m absolutely healthy as a horse at my age and consistently outperform guys half my age in the gym.
Hello Dr, what is your opinion of Tongkat Ali?
This is very worrying, do we know why men's Testosterone is dropping ??
Because the government puts alot of chems in our food and drinks.
xenoestrogens, plastics, seed oil, pesticides

can you make a video about cistanche tubulosa as test booster.
Thank you Dr. Malik!
Thanks for the informative video Dr Malik
What about dhea's impact on the thymus? Really seems to matter if you want to live longer and well. Perhaps an aromatase inhibitor like DIM for estrogen issues?
Some men have trouble correcting low T cause their insurance companies fight them at each and every step.
I find that many adaptogens work in the opposite direction for me. Ashwaganda, ginseng, turn me into a slow, sad, weak mess. Tribulus, and fenugreek crank me up but kill my erections. How will DHEA be different?
I'm using dhea capsules for the past few days
How do you feel
dhea had no effect on my total testosterone, but I swear it makes me feel better in a hormone kinda way.
Had the same experience. Was horny 24/7 but my PSA went also up. Stopped taking it and PSA went down.Don't use it anymore but it definitely helps!
@@derekwhoelse8359what is PSA ? I am looking into starting DHEA .
@@ProjectMatt559 Prostate-Specific Antigen
That's because you ran the wrong test or your doctor did!
Dhea pushes PSA about 2 points. Stop taking for a month the run the PSA
The boring truth is to skip alcohol and take long walks, eat healthy and go to the gym for muscle mass. Penetration isn’t everything.
That's a way of coping
Right. It's the only thing.
You have to know what it is to eat healthy though. That's the key. Do you know?
I question the validity of the so called test data of DHEA
Because according to NIH-National Library of Medicine
This was there conclusion;
These results demonstrate acute oral DHEA supplementation can elevate free testosterone levels in middle-aged men and prevent it from declining during HIIT. Therefore, DHEA supplementation may have significant benefits related to HIIT adaptation.
So if one is exercising/lifting weights they may see a benefit
In addition to these recent studies of Tongkat Ali & Fadogia Agrestis supplemented have been shown to increase testosterone levels.
Men over 40, get a side chick, all your low T symptoms go away
I wouldn't do that to my wife, but I believe you. I bet that works like a charm.
Loool
Can you go more in depth on dhea?
Great info as always!
Please cover pumpkin seeds
You could merely eat (red) meat, and live actively, perhaps even lift heavy. But hey, pills are always the answer these days.
Not a bad breakdown of the effects by the way. A truth, as things are, is that what you use to replace what your body is supposed to do naturally, will stunt said ability; therefore said body will adapt to it. Not the end all be all example, abd there are other reasons for things to go the way they do. That said, it isn't too out of the ordinary for it to be discounted.
Have a great week.
People these days are lost and confused. They don't realize the answer to their problems almost always lies in their diet.
Thank you for this video.
You need cholesterol for testosterone; eggs, bacon, meat.
Yes!
PT-141..... WOW becareful lol
how about shilajit and D-aspartic?
Shilajit, Ashwagandha are marketing scams...just take Zinc in gel tablets and you'll be good
Is putting synthetic man-made drugs into your body a wise thing to do? Good question.
Nice video
Shouldn’t an endocrinologist be covering this?
As someone who is contending with potentially low testosterone, taking all summer sucks.
How about you? Tell us the beneficial ones first, and then tell us why not to take the other ones next.
❤❤ DHEA 10mg to 20mg every other day kicks things into gear nicely. Boosts Nitric oxide also as well as increased circulating Testosterone. Been using it off and on since 1996. #1 Item to keep in any Man's Tool chest.
💯% You sound like an ad read.
Your comment is laughable legsweep. I believe the studies instead of your opinion of what you think DHEA does.

Is there a difference between DHEA and DHA?
They are completely different things. DHA is a type of omega 3 fatty acid and DHEA is a hormone precursor.
@@dg5301 Thanks for the clarification.
Saturated fat helps all hormones right?
Cool video
Have you tried Boil Booster???
I started on dhea and a couple days in discovered that orgasm was no longer possible. It took a week to get back to normal. I am on TRT.
Capiche?
200 is a horrible level for T?
Yeah mine was 355 and i had all the same symptoms. Once i started on TRT it boosted to 1100. Lost 50lbs. My body overall feels amazing. No more joint problems. No more back issues. I changed everything. My diet. No more alchohol. Exercise 3 times a week.

@@Scramblefred2399 Thanks for the info...I'm switching plans totally regardless and will see what the other Doctors say. I don't drink, certainly need the exercise, but when I retired 2 yrs ago I have lost over that time 22 lbs so it's not a weight issue either.
My experience: DHEA is useless. I am on a moderate dose of TRT now and that, along with my workout program and improved nutrition, has worked wonders.
Dr. Malik, can a mini deep tissue massager be used for external prostate massage? If so, what is the target area please?
Taking 100 mg androstenedione, increases testosterone levels within 30 minutes to an hour, for around 4 hours by 10-15%. 300 mg by 20-30%. I'm not saying it is a good idea, just some info
