I went off HRT and replaced it with a supplement regiment that includes Ashwaganda and 50 mg of DHEA. I feel wonderful, actually better than i was with the HRT. The DHEA has helped ALOT with libido and hot flashes, and just slightly with sleep and night sweats. The Ashwaganda makes me feel great and seems to give me energy. Together I feel 20 years younger. Great and informative video.
I feel better if bio hrt I was on 17 yrs suffered so badly with gut issues. It resolved as soon as I went off. Tried to go back on for sleep cause I went rt into heavy menopause but the same thing started happening again ! Ughhh
I’ve been taking 100 mg DHEA Tablets daily for over 10 years without any problems. I started taking at menopause at age 54 and am 64 now. Still sexually active with my husband of 44 years and people think I’m 50. I feel wonderful so far.
@Karen19820 That's great to know! As I mention in the video, DHEA is pretty effective at increasing testosterone in women, especially if you can tolerate a higher dose, which apparently is the case. So happy for you and your lucky husband!
100? I can't even get past 15 mg. I cannot imagine taking that much! My hair starts to shed and I start feeling bad. When I first started taking it I had loads of energy and then suddenly I started feeling really tired. I don't understand why. I had breast cancer and have to be very careful to keep the dose low. (so I am told)
I started dhea 5 weeks ago since my Dutch test said I was abnormally low. I take Biosom sublingual 10mg made by Metagenics. My naturopath Dr recommended it. It’s cleared my face from eczema / rosacea which I have been battling for a year and raised libido which has been non existence for 10 yrs. Have not had any hair loss or acne , my face is back to normal such a game changer for me. I feel so much happier. I have been on hrt for two years and still trying to dial in my hormones . Starting small dose of testosterone this week to see if it helps with weight loss. I have been lifting heavy for a year and have seen no body composition change even tho my diet is high protein low carb no sugar.
I've started taking DHEA 25mg from LE while living in the UK in 2012, moved to Canada where you cant' even buy vit D online was a challenge buying it. I find it easy to get from the US buyers on ebay, if you buy1 bottle the customs won't seize it as it's viewed as personal usage and only 5% of packages gets reviewed. I now use a forwarding service who sends my package with the specification I give them. I send them as natural supplements and I also buy Estriol cream from India which is declared as body cream. I never had a problem with customs this way. I buy about one yr to 1.5yr supply at a time via forwarding service now. It's much more costly but hey I'm not going to stop taking whats beneficial for me considering we have terrible health 'services' here. It took my friend 15 yrs to get to a GP! I am on a waiting list since mine moved away, I have to be my own dr!!!
Hey there, Canadian here, lived in several provinces- BC, Sask and Quebec- since 2019. I have used Vitamin D religiously since then, as we had moved back from Mexico and winter was hard on us. We could get it EVERYWHERE, at grocery stores, drug stores, health food stores, even the dollar store (not that I trust that one!) Where are you living? I do agree about the family doctor situation, somewhat. We've had a family doctor in Sask and we are about to have one now in BC after about a 9 month wait- in Quebec, we were not there long enough and now there is French only healthcare (we were there to learn, but did not have enough to advocate for ourselves in healthcare). In the meantime, we do online appointments (telehealth apps, etc ) and if we need referrals, they can usually do it, or we go to walk in clinics. We can get blood tests, etc, just from the online clinics. It's definitely not like having a family doctor for your whole family for most of their lives, but we've gotten 4 major diagnosis' for my daughter and I, my Dad (died at 91 after beating lung cancer at 75) had top of the line cancer treatment (three kinds over his life) and palliative care and we are lucky to be able to be proactive, because it is not easy. Definitely easier than the insurance run around our friends in the US have to do, only to find out they aren't covered at the hospital their doctor works at... it's a whole other level of red tape and medical gaslighting.
I am Canadian and visit at least 2x s year usually and have no problem buying vitamin D though most people get it as a prescription form their doctor. And usually is quite small amounts, they are unfortunately scared by their providers from taking any dose or supplements / medication unless specifically recommended by their physician , especially vitamin D. Anyways got some no problem for my son who lives in Montreal and for my sister in BC. That said, in the province of Quebec access to health care is difficult … but if you live anyways near Montreal, Laval, Eastern Township and near Ontario, there is no issues getting access in English ( no more than in French anyways. ) that said, why not learn the language ? It’s lovely
Note in Quebec women now have access to to prescription bio identical hormone replacement therapy , inexpensive with government program (of course one needs to have a physician or nurse practitioner) so perhaps the same professional can prescribe DHEA.
So happy to see you posted a new video. (I’ve missed you!). This DHEA video was super informative. Love the scientific data to support your findings and advice! Not enough of this on social media IMO. I’ve always understood (from many resources) that 15 mg was the most DHEA that a woman should take. Yet your findings suggest otherwise. Have you heard of this 15 mg maximum and where it might have originated? The evidence from the 3 RCTs and your advice sure seems to debunk the 15 mg rule. I now need to switch my thinking on DHEA. On a side note, I take 10 mg of oral DHEA without any androgenic effects. Yet, when I switched to a 10 mg DHEA mucosal spray, I developed whiteheads and very oily skin. Thought this was an interesting anecdotal experience to mention.

Would you mind sharing what brand you take? I can't get anywhere with my doctor, told me there is nothing I can do about menopause.. smh, not true! Hoping you see this, tyia!
Very well presented and insightful. I like to keep my patient DHEA levels greater than 200 in women and 500 in men. Since I combine it testosterone I only give women 15 mg and men 50 mg. You also could have talked about DHEA and weight loss, There are randomized blinded trials which show weight loss in the DHEA group.

I’m postmenopausal and had a full hysterectomy earlier this yr. I used to take DHEA along with BHRT pellets. I’m considering going back to pellets but want to know if DHEA would help me w all of the benefits of it w/o the pellets
@jazdown When you mention "pellets" you're most likely referring to estradiol and/or testosterone pellets. Progesterone isn't amenable to being administered via pellets. In answer to your question, DHEA will probably NOT be a good substitute for an estradiol/testosterone pellet. As I explain in the video, DHEA CAN increase your estradiol . . . but not really enough to bring you up to an optimal level by itself. It CAN help with low testosterone however and might be an option in place of a testosterone pellet, although your individual response will be highly variable.
I have low cortisol in the morning and I was told to take dhea by a functional doctor! 25 mg but I see where you say it can lower cortisol. I take it as soon as I wake up. But I feel tired as I’m already tired from low cortisol. Any suggestions on taking it with low cortisol or should I stop and try to raise my cortisol levels?
@@KathyChapman-y9g yes, only with the doc. You have to check morning Cortisol. Prednisolon is a glucocorticoid and 4 times stronger than your natural Cortisol.
I am 36 years old and I am a man, and I do a lot of weight training. I want to know how much I should start taking, 25 mg or 50 mg. I know that 25 mg is safer but it would be bad to start with 50 mg.
Can this cause autonomic dysregulation? I took a 10mg capsule 3.5 months ago and I developed neurosis and palpitations. I felt the palpitations and the odd feeling an hour after taking the capsule. Is my experience relevant? I’m 27 years old and I took it to help me build muscle at the gym. Can you please help me if you can? I still feel constant palpitations and anxiety. I tested my DHEA-S before starting and it was among the normal range.
Its useless in young men..it is awesome for men over fifty. Concentrate instead on trying to get stronger with each workout.. eat lots of eggs and drink creatine.
DHEA can reduce cortisol levels and can have a positive impact on adrenal fatigue. But the relationship between DHEA and cortisol is complex. That’s why it’s important to have a hormone optimization specialist with experience treating adrenal issues guide your treatment.
@anahiddominguez6700 DHEA is often recommended by hormone specialists as a part of optimizing all your hormones after menopause. I suggest in the video that having a hormone optimization specialist work with you on DHEA is always the best approach.
My doctor really wanted me to be on DHEA but I refused because of fear of hair loss as I’m already dealing with hair loss and was scared to have more loss…doctor said DHEA could cause some loss but most times it does not…glad I read these comments…but very sorry for the hair loss for those here that have endured that…I believe once the supplement is stopped you will regain back…
great info. Can i split 25mg in morning and 25mg dhea in the evening (50mg)? or just take 1 50mg once per day? would i still get the same effect? for males
@seona6549 Unfortunately, DHEA supplements can increase androgen levels (like testosterone), which can elevate something called dihydrotestosterone, which is known to increase hair loss in both men and women.
All.i know is you got to be monitored by a physician if your going to take any kind of hormone pills/supplement. I'm on local hrt where minimal amounts are going into my bloodstream and I'm noticing side effects so be careful people.
@nikaa4237 That part about being monitored by a physician sounds familiar . . . kinda like what I said in the video 😉. Local HRT certainly has its place. But also be aware of this: Whether you choose to take systemic hormones to treat menopause symptoms (and increase your blood levels) or NOT . . . you face risks either way. There certainly can be side effects with anything you put into your body, including water. The key is to work with a provider who understands the risks, the benefits, the side effects, and the nuances of hormone optimization. My strong recommendation is that you consider all the risks of both optimizing and NOT optimizing your hormones.
I really enjoyed the information in your video. I'm a 68 year old female currently on hormone pellets for estradiol and testosterone. I'm also taking progesterone capsules at night. I've heard that taking DHEA is similar to receiving hormone therapy with all the same benefits except it also has the added benefit of weight loss. Is that true? Would it be ok to also supplement with DHEA as well as being on the hormone pellets?
@dkc9102 There is some evidence that DHEA supplementation may help women who are over weight with weight loss. As I mention clearly in the video, DHEA can make a pretty big difference in testosterone for women, so if you're already on testosterone, it's a good idea to approach DHEA cautiously and have both your DHEA-S and testosterone levels carefully monitored by your hormone provider.
Is there a particular brand your wife is using? Would it be possible to pass along a brand recommendation? Please DM me if not acceptable in this forum.
Clinically i have not sesn 25 to 75 mg doses daily do much for testosterone ( free and bioavailable) in about 10 people who have used it for at least 3 months. All people had dhea levels go to normal to higher than normal levels. These were all men. Only one patient felt physically and mentally better.
@mymichiganmittens I do address that question in the video. DHEA can increase estradiol and progesterone. That’s exactly why I recommend working with a hormone specialist who can help you monitor your levels. But I wouldn’t say you can’t take DHEA while taking BHRT.
Unless I missed it, I can't believe you didn't advise getting your levels tested prior to taking any DHEA! If you have estrogen driven breast cancer it is very dangerous to take DHEA. Also pre-cancerous uterine lining with subsequent total hysterectomy, must test levels, and if taken not at such a high dose for sure!
Yes. It can be a problem with most androgens, including DHEA. Often hair loss is related to the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. But that appears to be more of a problem in men than in women.
Dhea has direct effects more than just downstream hormonal effects. Can help counteract the negative effects of high cortisol and has its own mood and energy effects.
Unless I missed it, why do you not address significant risk of high estrogen in men and how DHEA could be a major driver. DHEA is dangerous with no legit studies showing benefit.
@scottmt777 I'm not one of those people who believe that estradiol is dangerous in men. I'm pretty sure I did highlight a few studies that showed DHEA did have some benefits in the video, maybe more for women than men but still.
For me, DHEA is horrible! within a week of taking even only 10 mgs, I get cystic acne and super oily skin, who needs zits at age 64? NOT Me! I'm already on bio-HRT and have high T all my life. don't need more. be careful, you may not need it.
@VandanaChaudhry-x3s Enlarged male breasts are usually a symptom of testosterone (or other androgens) being "aromatized" or converted into estrogen (estradiol). There's a complicated relationship between body fat, especially visceral fat, and gynecomastia/estrogen in men. Some doctors recommend a drug called anastrozole to block aromatization. Many of the providers I work with prefer not to use anastrozole because estradiol is important in men. I would recommend seeing a hormone specialist who understands the nuances of hormone optimization.
DHEA was one of the main ingredients in an “all natural” test booster that I had tried, I had heard how DHEA is the mother of pro hormones and how beneficial it is. Initially after about two weeks of using this supplement I did see minor gains but it was more of what seemed to be water retention my muscles looked visibly bigger but more puffy or “bloated” however after a month and a half something else happened to me my sex drive went into the sh💩t can and I mean it tanked horribly! I couldn’t believe how bad my sex drive and ability to maintain 🍆 and I would have thought DHEA would be the very last chemical that would cause this. So after a process of elimination and diet monitoring I finally stopped taking the test booster and lo and behold within a month all things returned to normal! Yes the test booster had a couple other things in it but not at the same level of the DHEA and weirdly enough I ended up talking to another person who had taken the same supplement and had the exact same reaction to this supplement so the real efficacy of DHEA very questionable I guess pay close attention to how your body responds to these hormones buyer beware!
When you’re a hammer . . . everything looks like a nail. When you’re a carnivore . . . you think meat is the solution to everything. Good luck with that.
He’s not citing any one doctor, he’s citing clinical trials. A 2013 study found that 50 milligrams of DHEA per day increased free testosterone levels in middle-aged men who were doing high-intensity interval training. Another study found that 200 milligrams of DHEA per day can increase testosterone levels and lower HDL cholesterol.
@silviofontana3666 I tend to agree with Peter Attia on most topics. Pretty sure I kind of said in this video that DHEA has a relatively limited impact on testosterone for men . . . but maybe you didn't actually watch the video?
@@dianavaldez3371 a study years ago compared to modern day studies is science in action. However, DHEA seems to be, a better inclusion with HRT for fems.
Thanks for watching @tommygivern8020 There IS a lot of variability between individuals - something I emphasize in the video. Irresponsible? I respectfully disagree. I’m saying very clearly that DHEA may have a place but you need guidance from an experienced practitioner.
@@SimpleHormonesyou implied that it generally does what you showed, with those results you showed. You didn't show any people responding at both ends of the spectrum. You basically backed up the title of the video with the few results that you used as examples. Getting an increase in total testosterone 30-40 pts isn't going to be noticeable or do much either.

5 mg Prednisolon / in the morning

Is these a feed-back effect - will your body produce less if u supplement?
Your body is going to produce less as you age anyway.
I am 36 years old and I am a man, and I do a lot of weight training. I want to know how much I should start taking, 25 mg or 50 mg. I know that 25 mg is safer but it would be bad to start with 50 mg.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Where do you buy DHEA in the uk please
Are you talking about blood levels of the hormones?
@sherylburt7863 When I refer to hormone levels, I mostly mean serum or blood levels.
What does DHEA do for adrenal fatigue ????
DHEA can reduce cortisol levels and can have a positive impact on adrenal fatigue. But the relationship between DHEA and cortisol is complex. That’s why it’s important to have a hormone optimization specialist with experience treating adrenal issues guide your treatment.

What about dhea on HRT?
@anahiddominguez6700 DHEA is often recommended by hormone specialists as a part of optimizing all your hormones after menopause. I suggest in the video that having a hormone optimization specialist work with you on DHEA is always the best approach.
Sir, where can i buy this DHEA? Whats the best brand? PERIMENPAUSE is completely ruining my life.

I took an otc dhea supplement and two weeks later had a massive hair fall out. No thank you for me, not the side effect I was looking for.
same for me - still trying to recoup from it
Yes! My hair fell out by the handfuls
My doctor really wanted me to be on DHEA but I refused because of fear of hair loss as I’m already dealing with hair loss and was scared to have more loss…doctor said DHEA could cause some loss but most times it does not…glad I read these comments…but very sorry for the hair loss for those here that have endured that…I believe once the supplement is stopped you will regain back…
Did you try 5 mg three times a day? That has benefitted my energy and stopped peeing at night.
great info. Can i split 25mg in morning and 25mg dhea in the evening (50mg)? or just take 1 50mg once per day? would i still get the same effect? for males
@megabaneen8057 I don't think there's any advantage to taking 25MG twice a day. DHEA mainly comes in capsules that can't be split in half.
Is a possible side effect of Dhea supplements cause hair loss?
No! Is the other way around I went through and only Bioidentical Hormone Replacement therapy stopped it
@seona6549 Unfortunately, DHEA supplements can increase androgen levels (like testosterone), which can elevate something called dihydrotestosterone, which is known to increase hair loss in both men and women.
Yes. If I go over 15 mg I start seeing more shedding.
My strong recommendation is that you consider all the risks of both optimizing and NOT optimizing your hormones.
does DHEA bad for enlarge prostate ?anyone plz
@wasimahmed1570 No, don't worry!
Believe it does, DHEA is dangerous with no legit studies of any benefit. How is the guy on this video not addressing estrogen in guys is mind blowing.

What if I'm in peri/menopause but don't want my sex drive to come back?
Ant references to the papers you discussed?
Is there a particular brand your wife is using? Would it be possible to pass along a brand recommendation? Please DM me if not acceptable in this forum.
I too would love to know
We’re both taking Life Extension. They’re reasonably priced and do have testing reports available for their products. She’s on 15MG and I take 25MG.
What brand are you taking please.
Clinically i have not sesn 25 to 75 mg doses daily do much for testosterone ( free and bioavailable) in about 10 people who have used it for at least 3 months. All people had dhea levels go to normal to higher than normal levels. These were all men. Only one patient felt physically and mentally better.
yes, Peter Attia also confirms that DHEA does not influence Tee in men.
What happens if a woman is on bHRT estradiol. I understand we cannot take a DHEA supplement while taking bHRT. True?
@mymichiganmittens I do address that question in the video. DHEA can increase estradiol and progesterone. That’s exactly why I recommend working with a hormone specialist who can help you monitor your levels. But I wouldn’t say you can’t take DHEA while taking BHRT.
My HRT specialist actually encouraged me to take 10mg of DHEA.
Of course you can just start low 5mg
@@diannlimo4502how would you know to take more?
@@mymichiganmittens You can absolutely take a little bit of DHEA with your BHRT, it's actually part of proper hormone therapy!
He’s citing the benefits based on clinical trials and he also said to consult with a doctor. He’s not giving medical advice. 🙄
Monitoring is Best !
Hair loss??
Yes. It can be a problem with most androgens, including DHEA. Often hair loss is related to the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. But that appears to be more of a problem in men than in women.
I watched a podcast with Dr. Andrew Huberman where the guest talked that it's completely useless for men as a supplement.
Any thoughts on that?
For women, it can dramatically increase testosterone. I can't see why it wouldn't do the same for men. I have to watch the Huberman podcast.
@@peacepocket I'd appreciate that
@@peacepocket Don't forget - men and women are NOT biologically the same. Therefore, it would not work the same. Did you watch the video?
Yeah! What @TOPHERR555 said!

I"Ll have to rethink why I stopped taking this over 30 yrs ago. I had trouble peeing, then bouts of prostitis. I'm now on a drug for this at age 79.
What should be taken for enlarge male breasts?
@VandanaChaudhry-x3s Enlarged male breasts are usually a symptom of testosterone (or other androgens) being "aromatized" or converted into estrogen (estradiol). There's a complicated relationship between body fat, especially visceral fat, and gynecomastia/estrogen in men. Some doctors recommend a drug called anastrozole to block aromatization. Many of the providers I work with prefer not to use anastrozole because estradiol is important in men. I would recommend seeing a hormone specialist who understands the nuances of hormone optimization.
@@SimpleHormones Thanks for the reply.

Peter Attia MD says DHEA does not influence Tee for men. I tend to believe Attia.

@@SimpleHormonesyou implied that it generally does what you showed, with those results you showed. You didn't show any people responding at both ends of the spectrum.
