Crazy - Better to say "I don't know"
Wow. 😂
Agreed, it significantly raises testosterone in females, and it’s very difficult to get a doctor to prescribe testosterone for females who really need it.
Turns out a lot has changed in 10 years, or he didn’t look very far 10 years ago….
Dhea was a miracle intervention for me during perimenopause.
How did you know you needed it? Was it only a blood test?

I'm a 65 yo male. Started taking DHEA about a month ago. First 25mg, then 50mg, now 75mg all of a sudden I'm waking up with woodies again. Don't tell me it doesn't raise testosterone! Headed for 100mg in a couple of weeks!
Yeah it works.
Also take Fadogia Agrestis
& Tongkat Ali/Tribuls - Nutricost Brand
DIM does much better for that. I'm 68 and in the Morning Wood Club too - since I started taking DIM in 2018. Every man over 50 should take DIM.
@@mjklein The reason you are benefiting from it is because DIM decreases estrogen due to the fact you more than likely have LOW T and higher estrogen resulting in an imbalance which it should be the other way around - HIGHER T and LOWER E2. Look into Calcium D Glucarate as it works even better in my opinion.
2nded at 45 plus.. not just the woodies but other magnificent benefits including sleep restoration and turning around of BAD adrenal fatigue
Wow it’s a miracle . You can get 250 capsules of 50 mg for less than 20 bucks. That’s cheaper than water. What are these men over 65 doing with their erections nobody wants to hear or think about.
I've been using it for only 3 days, I have very low thyroid and severe menaupose since 11 years... It's already changed my life! I finally have energy to enjoy life! Priceless!

I’m 53 and in menopause just started with 10mg a day.. can I ask what dose you took to feel your best effect? Also when in the day should it be taken?
DHEA is the only supplement I’ve taken that I felt any improvement in my wellbeing. I have no idea if anything else I take actually works, but DHEA shows its effects quickly and undeniably in people who tolerate it.
What dose did you start with?
What dose? How does it make you feel?

So timely! I was so curious about this question after seeing your trt video and hearing Dr. Berg's view. As a 46 yr young very physically active female, i will give this a try. Thank you 🙏🏼
I tried dhea in my thirties: nothing.
Tried again in my late forties: crazy enhancement.
What did it do for you? Pros and cons or any side effects?
Same, but early 40’s
You will definitely have a effect as you age with DHEA if you get the right dose needed.

@@markjones2453 100mg a day is what I take.
I took DHEA for a while after reading about it being helpful for menopause - particularly sex drive. I didn’t take it regularly, but after my breast cancer diagnosis, I researched every supplement in my cabinet, and this was the first to go. It stimulates growth of most breast cancers (hormone receptor positive). Mine was 100 mg daily. I took a total of about 20 days. I’ve never used oral contraceptives.
100 MG is WAY too much! You're supposed to start at 5-10mg. Good lord
As a woman you shouldn’t be taking that much.
25mg would have been good!
And that’s disappointing about the research on stimulating Growth of Breast Cancer.
Sorry about the Cancer diagnosis.
I hope things go well for you!
I am worried about getting cancer, but DHEA seems to have stopped my debilitating hip and sacroiliac pain that was deeply effecting my life.
I agree that dose I’m not sure where you came up with taking that much.. you should have got your bloods taken well before you increase your that dose.
"100 mg daily" LOL 🤦♂️
I've been taking 50mg DHEA for a few years now. I'm 55 and noticed a difference when first taking it. I've stuck with it because libido is good/better and I'm having great workouts and building muscle.
I totally respect u sir but i'm gonna tell u that i put myself on it bc I had low testosterone bc i'm post meno and it increased my testosterone and I have no more issues.. even my mental health that was suffering is no longer an issue! I love my DHEA!!
How much do you take? Do you have more energy? Motivated? Drive? What?
I’ve been taking DHEA and don’t have acne and I’m a female.
I've been experimenting with dhea and i notice an effect.
I was talking 50mg, now 25 to see if the effect still happens.
I feel more energy and other male related clues. Middle age.
What brand do you take?
There a reason why WADA banned it, because it works 😉
I’ve been on TRT for 3 years and I thought taking HCG was enough for me to fill the back pathway but apparently not because since taking DHEA (100mg twice a day) my libido has skyrocketed.
I agree! I'm 58 years old, and have been on TRT (50 mg of testosterone cypionate twice per week) for the past 10 years, and my latest labs showed that I was on the low end of the normal range for DHEA. So, I decided to start taking 50 mg of DHEA per day, and my sex drive and "sensitivity" during sex has increased quite a bit. I've also not experienced any negative side effects from DHEA.

More than half of the US population suffers from adrenal fatigue. Many of those patients get their energy back with DHEA.
Ok. If it's not working then why it is banned in Canada ?😅
DHEA is schedule 4 in Canada and perfectly legal to possess. To buy it, you need a prescription, so it's not an over the counter supplement - but far from schedule 1.
According to a quick Google search it's schedule 1
Male here (60's), I take it daily but low dose (5mg). That low dose has helped me with mental clarity and depression and I have stronger erections. Will continue taking it, everything has been positive for me.
I enjoyed the discussion very much. Two men trying to figure out why women asking for DHEA 😂 Guys, you might need to do some research. DHEA helps to reduce peri- and menopausal symptoms and also is used in fertility clinics widely (surprisingly, for women).
DHEA is awesome, it is the highest indicator of someone ability to high physical performance and drive. Even Charles Poliquin talks about this.
Poliquin is dead at 57
DHEA is very underestimated as a supplement for men. A small dose of DHEA (5-10mg)!has a strong acute effect on mood, energy, and libido. I think the main reason people have bad experiences with it is they overdo the dosages and increase estrogen too much. Also, routine use increases DHEA-S too much over time. DHEA itself interacts with receptors and increases metabolite 3a-diol which is very androgenic.
I am on 50mg a day with trt cream plus low dose naltrexone. Maybe I will try a lower dose but I guess you have to experiment. I did go to an anti aging doctor and got my labs done first and he put me on the dhea and trt plus arimadex which I have decided not to take. I might go with apigenin and chrysin. Wow so much to learn. I am 52 and sendintary, today I did some elliptical and tai chi so I am happy about that.
@@Aaron-wi4nq Any move in the right direction toward health and fitness is a big step, mate. DHEA is very estrogenic in men, so prescribing 50mg and Adex on top of your TRT makes no sense. Better to just not let estradiol get out of control in the first place. Go by 1) how you feel and 2) bloodwork.
My advice would be to add things in slow on top of your TRT. Titrate the DHEA up from 5mg and see how you feel as you increase. Much easier to find a sweet spot that way.
Yeah , 32m, took 25-50mg a day. Lowered my test and raised my estrogen significantly over 4 weeks
I’ve been taking DHEA for a month. 25mg. Noticeable change in recovery.
Also, I tried gorilla mind pre workout and it was making me feel superhuman.
DHEA should not be banned. It's nothing like Anabolic steroids. I've done both. AAS is much stronger. DHEA is really nothing in my experience. A man should just take TRT. That's if a doctor will prescribe it. Of course, age plays a major factor here. Better to take it when older.
I'm on first cycle of aas. 200mg test c and 100mg of dhte. Yes, you can pin dhte now. I like the strength aspect of it, but I think it gives me low e2. In your opinion does dhea help with e2?
I’m in Australia where DHEA is by prescription only. I’m 52, post menopausal and on progesterone, estrogen and DHEA which keep my hormones at optimal levels.

DHEA works! Only sides I got were horrific flatulence, really pungent. At the gym I often loudly bottom burped doing exercises and it was seriously embarrassing! When I say works you feel better, you feel more energetic but it does not pack on muscle or get you ripped.
Did for me, wife says I look way more toned. Even asked what I’m doing differently
I’m a female and I feel my muscles getting more pumped BEFORE I go to the gym. I’m taking 50 mg spaced out in the morning (like 25 and 25 couple hours later)
Also I’m taking 50 mg pregnenolone
(So 50/50). I take Pregnenolone right before I go to the gym. I’ve tried doing a higher dose of Pregnenolone, but with Dhea it ultimately makes my muscles flat. Imagine that it’s going too much into progesterone…
It's suggested by some doctors to improve egg quality. Especially for older women trying to have babies.
Use nmn
What brands of Dhea is preferred?
Weird. I take a quite a lot of DHEA/Pregnenalone and my overall levels look good, no acne. My thyroid is fairly confused right now though.
It's all about optimization of all your hormones. When I consult with people I recommend the below.
1. Ferritin - must be at least 100ng/mL or you will never feel your best AND your thyroid will never function like it should AND MEN SHOULD NEVER start on testosterone replacement without first optimizing their ferritin levels to at least 100 AND their free T3 levels should be at the top end of the range.
2. Thyroid - Free T3 levels should be at the top end of the range.
3. Testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone must be in balance - I also check pregnenolone as well.
4. DHEA and IGF-1
BTW, I've been in healthcare some 30 years with at least a decade of training in integrative functional medicine specializing in hormone optimization.

DHEA is also a topical pheromone product certain pheromones can allow you to zone in on unique emotional levels that others may not recognized in the moment. Pheromones would usually have this in 230mcg per spray more or less.

I’m more that a little bothered that you guys know nothing about DHEA. I’ve taken for years and I can tell when I and haven’t taken It for a while.

Do you mind I ask her age and what dosage? I would like to introduce it to my wife as well.
Did you bother actually watching the video?
I used it at 40, and not 1-5mg pill a day; I used 30mg a day, and at that time, I also was using jak3d pre-workout and made the biggest gains in the gym, did it raise my T?..unsure, but it really raised my energy and muscle growth..
Does supplemental or topical DHE suppress natural production in women or men?
Did you find an answer to this? I have been searching and dont find anything
DHEA does tons man. I used to take Viagra because I was at the beginning stages of ED. It fixed that completely. I never take Viagra anymore, I just don't need it at all. That's one plus of it. As far as the gym is concerned, I am definitely more shredded than I ever was. Also, I generally feel better all around. So it does help.
What dosage do you take? For how long have you taken it? Have you ever thought about adding pregnenolone?
@@Baby-Dont-Hurt-Me-007
I don't know anything about pregnenolone but I'm currently taking 100 mg. I started on 25mg for about two months, then 50 mg for two months, now 100mg. I think 100 is the sweet spot for me. Almost been on it for a year.
Pregnenolone is after cholesterol as the first step to making hormones (it being the one hormone making ALL hormones.)
It can buffer the Dhea in case it goes towards excessive estrogen (Dhea=test OR estrogen for the most part) by bringing in a little progesterone, which counters estrogen.

Oral contraception directly depletes DHEA, and absolutely pre-ages women and fucks up your adrenal system. Taking a low dose of DHEA to recover from birth control was a life saver for me. Got my metabolism back in line and I can maintain the muscle I work so hard for. I sleep normal and I actually have a libido again. I’m young. This problem is real. Saying DHEA isn’t important to anyone because it doesn’t affect men is like a fish asserting that humans don’t need air because IT doesn’t need air.
DHEA since 2019 due to clinical deficiency. I quit for 6 months and went back on. I can't say I feel anything but who knows I'm on so much crap. And yes, it does make your skin oily.
Spironolactone is prescribed for women to mitigate acne. This was prescribed when I was doing pellet therapy.
I would say DHEA will have an effect if it is low in your blood work and you need to raise it to optimum levels.
I am a 26 year old black man I got into the gym heavy last winter and experimented with DHEA my dosage was 100mg took it twice a day and 100% has an effect on men so much so I had to quit taking it in just a week my brief time was interesting it was like a natural anabolic steroid I started to get acne as if I was going to puberty my strength increases my stamina increases my anxiety decreased my muscles grew so fast I started to get stretch marks on my shoulders CONS: taking DHEA you will start producing testosterone like a female so much so my testicles shrinked because my body had an abundance of testosterone that is the sole reason I quit taking it I can't be dropping baby loads if you catch my drift the same day that I quit my balls dropped again couple days later I had full potency fully loaded again hopes this helps have a blessed day

what do you think of providers using DHEA solely in treating menopausal women... in theory using DHEA to boost test and therefore that will convert over to estrogens? If you try, maybe take Pregnenolone or a bit of progesterone (straight progesterone makes me weepy after a few days on it.) But I don’t have estrogen dominance…

Inside tracker told me my DHEA levels were low, indicating my biological age was higher than my chronological age. That may be why you are seeing so much of this interest. The rest of my bloodwork was pretty damn good, so of course I jumped on a supplement, broke out in back acne, and as an Aesthetician, that was a big no, so I decided it wasn’t for me.
I do inside tracker also. It says my DHEA is “normal”(though I strive to be in the “optimal” range for as many bio markers as I can). Started hormones (estrogen, progesterone and DHEA(25mg) about 3 weeks ago as my other hormone levels are VERY low(48F). Haven’t noticed any side effects, good or bad, so far. Wondering if your acne kicked in immediately or did it take time?
Tracker recommends fatty fish and a variety on nuts to help with DHEA levels, so hopefully that can bump your levels up. If all your other markers are really good, I seriously doubt this one will impact your inner age that much(my inner age is much older due to very high LDL, total cholesterol, and ApoB😭).
HRT is good people do your own research.
A comment above suggests it grows breast cancers..
I'm a man. I have low testosterone but my DHEA is high. I was wondering if the high DHEA might say anything about why I have low T. Cortisol was also higher than average. I guess it would be helpful to have LH and androstenedione tested...

@@jd5776 yeah, my cortisol is higher than avg too, just not as out of whack as dhea. What did you do to lower it? Seems kinda hard, other than relaxing, improving sleep. And my sleep does suck but I’ve tried everything for that.

@@domeniquedelafield1278 37 - 3x gym sessions a week
@domeniquedelafield1278 age is irrelevant. It depends on where your biological age is at & hormone levels. Get tested & get the right questions. People are obsessed with a calendar year.
Any men out there on it noticing side effects?
no side effects, but i also do frequent blood work to test my DHEA-S levels. Being on the low side normally, I use 25-50mg daily supplementation to bring the levels up to mid reference range.
I've been taking DHEA since 2016. I was taking thyroid hormone and 25mg DHEA supercharged it, making me hyperthyroid. I lowered my thyroid hormone to balance. (DHEA decreases TBG). But 25mg DHEA is too much, and it gave me a few pimples and made me irritable. This was especially true after I started taking boron. (Boron lowers SHBG). Eventually I settled on 12.5mg DHEA, and this was good for a long time. But in December I started having symptoms of excess testosterone* again and lowered DHEA to 6mg. This seems to be a good dose for now. (*symptoms include random e just looking at a photo of a woman in a bikini)
On the plus side, DHEA definitely improves my mood, and it seems to give more energy during workouts. It makes it easier to lose weight, but it's not helping much with gaining muscle. I suspect high cortisol is interfering with that.
BTW, my free T was 3.0 pg/ml without DHEA, which is less than 1/2 the bottom of normal. My total T is normal at 449 ng/dl. I suspect the studies showing no benefit from DHEA only looked at total T.
I take 25mg/day. Improves general well-being. After awhile on it I wasn't sure it was helping until I stopped it and general well-being went down. It's suppose to work along with cortisol ie helps counteract any negative effects of cortisol. Chronic stress seems to lower dhea, maybe dhea helps counteract stress/high cortisol??
@@dansmith9724You're correct that cortisol and DHEA balance each other out, but I'll add that it doesn't counteract all of the negative effects from elevated stress/high cortisol. Both DHEA-S and cortisol are adrenal hormones, but there are several other hormones released by the adrenal glands (e.g. mineralocorticoids, androgens, catecholamines, etc.). An imbalance in any of those hormones' can cause problems with the others. So when the adrenal glands are forced to work overtime pumping out cortisol, it often leads to altered production of the androgen/mineralocorticoids/catecholamine hormones (e.g. DHEA-S, Aldosterone, Epinephrine, etc.).
So while supplementing DHEA-S might help resolve symptoms and rebalance the two hormones, it obviously doesn't fix the underlying stressor causing the cortisol issue (i.e. poor sleep, stimulant abuse, psychological/environmental/lifestyle factors). Best to look at DHEA supplementation as a short-term solution/band-aid to an underlying issue that will probably take longer to fully resolve.
It's a super interesting and complex topic for sure.
Been taking 50m per day for about a month. I'm in my mid 50s and workout daily. Not noticed anything to be honest. No bloods done, and probably won't keep on using it.
I’ve been taking 50 mg a day for years . I stopped two days ago and never felt better. Everybody is different but this raised my estrogen levels to an extreme. Dhea in my body was converting into estrogen and basically turning me into a women. I’m not joking. In women it will convert to test in most men it’s going to raise estrogen.
Hmmm, very interesting. My trt clinic recommended that I start taking 25 mgs of dhea before bed, because dhea blood test showed I was really low. Been on it for about 3 weeks. The last couple of days I’ve felt very moody and passive.
50 is too much for most. Even 25 usually doubles estrogen and estrone levels. Some may need to take it with an aromatase inhibitor if they're naturally high in aromatase.
@@dlindo8892 Everyone is different. I was taking 50 mg dhea everyday for years thinking it was helping me but it really was raising my estrogen levels. Then I started on trt and decided to stop dhea. So I was only on trt for a week and read you should take dhea with it. So I started taking 25 mg dhea and my nipples started hurting and didn’t feel that great. I stopped the dhea and no pain in my nipples and I’m going on week 4 trt and starting to feel good. Everyone is different listen to your doctor but most importantly listen to your body.
@@Opethfeldt Yes I agree. Everybody is different but I’ve come to the conclusion that dhea raises test in women and increases estrogen in men
I started TRT 4 weeks ago and read you should take dhea with it. So one week into my TRT I started taking 25 mg dhea and my nipples started hurting I felt horrible. Stopped the dhea and I feel really good.
@@kennethfeula2773 come on dude one week of DHEA isn't going to start your nipples hurting
I would read up on newer studies before taking decade+ old research as gospel
Can DHEA help lower SHBG?
It definitely lowered mine
I've started taking DHEA, along with Boron and Liver Health supplement.
I'm 53, gym and run, natural and in good shape, total T is 713 (excellent) but free T - 7.55 (low side) but SHBG is 90.5 (way high, I was on calorie restriction), Estradiol E2 - 17. 4 (low side)
So I'm working on getting SHBG down a lot and E2 up a bit.
DHEA hopefully can help on both sides.
Illegal for competitive masters athletes, doesn't do anything anyway
200 MG dhea with

Me too but only for the first 5 days or so. I adapted. Maybe you took too much?
You forget how Important is Estrogen for men, mentally and bone health
My doctor (with Derek's own clinic, no less) says DHEA has an effect
Vit D is a hormone and thats over the counter too.
Attia never completed his residency, nor completed a fellowship or became board certified.
Pretty sure bobby greene (ufc fighter) got popped for dhea
He did
I promise it’s the algorithm on social with the push from Winona
I fill my boots and rucking with DHEA, then I go to bar and shout "Who is the king!!"
Im 18 and wanna cycle, will dhea work?
At that age? No, it won't work. When you are over 50, start then
@@JohnGrove310 thank you

Peter and his not so subtle, Monopoly controled, regulatory advocacy are going to protect me with safe and effective.
It’s a precursor to the hormones
It basically only makes testosterone and estrogen.
First hormone precursor is cholesterol then Pregnenolone, and then all the others (which Pregnenolone makes)
I believe the older you are the better it works. So people under maybe 45ish may not see the results that older people see🤷🏾

You have to order the correct test. You guys are doing a video and you have no clue what your talking about! First of all you need a hepatic pass. If you take the wrong kind of DHEA it does nothing except create Dhea sulphate which is stored and does not circulate. You need to take the correct type of DHEA you need to measure FREE TESTOSTERONE. With Dhea you take it in the morning and measure several hours there after. If you measure Total T there will be no difference. If you do not take DHEA that day and measure Free T there will be no difference! Woman have less Dhea than men, 25mg is as high that should be taken until there is a medical rationale. I worked for a Dhea expert more than 30 years ago. A specialist, a fully trained immunologist who used Dhea for very sick patients. The irony all the block heads out there want take too much of this stuff for hormones it aromatizes like crazy if you take too much and circumvents ones intent. The most important thing about Dhea is that it makes ones adaptive immune system more robust. It increases Natural killers cells, increases B cells and monocytes. You are welcome guys for the free info!
What is the right kind of DHEA then? Be very helpful to know
If it doesn't say micronized on the bottle it won't work.
@@jimmiers8218 as male is 25mg enough to show any improvement and no aromatise
25 mg of micronized Dhea will raise testosterone by about 3 to 3.5 points. If you take 50mg free testosterone increased by 4 3/4 point but your estradiol will be high
idk pops im 35, trying to consider all variables, but ive been on dhea for a few weeks and my girlfriends super hot again
