I’ve struggled with a few songs so much I almost gave up on them … literally MONTHS . Nailed them 15 minutes after watching this !!! Thanks and God bless ! You truly understand that we are put on this earth to help each other
5 years plain of playing drums - 50 mins later and BIG thanks to your vids I am feeling better than ever on the footmachine (Its actually the first time this device really makes sense to me ;-) )
Hey Jared, i watched your heel toe lesson and when i got to the kit to practise it, i couldnt do it without adding the 3 note in, so i basically learnt this before just a double stroke. i had to learn to control my foots momentum to get only the double! :D also, i think your lessons are great. you are a great teacher! and i love the free weekly lessons or just the 5-10 minute lesson every now and again! :D thank you
One of the most prominent examples I've heard this utilized in is All Time Low's "That Girl's A Straight-Up Hustler." Thanks for breaking this down a bit!
This is just the thing I've been looking for! I currently am playing on a single pedal, so I was wondering about how close I can get to double pedal speed, and this has the answer! Of course, Practice is the answer to develop speed on the pedal. I know the real deal is to develop the speed itself, not to look for easy hacks and techniques, but still-this will be a LOT of HELP! Thank you for posting such helpful videos!
I've learned it by going 1st stroke with my heel, then transitioning forward into my toes for the 2nd stroke, and for the 3rd stroke I keep my toes pushed down and bring my whole leg down onto my toes. Essentially breaking it down into 3 completely separate movements and muscle groups: heel>toe>leg as the movements and shin>calf>upper leg for the muscles used. Downside to my way is it doesnt really work consistently on small pedals like the one pictured in this video, cause you need to be able to physically fit your heel onto the pedal. I think the way shown here is a better way to do it, but I think the way I've learned it it easier.
You're the best, and most dedicated drum teacher, not only on RUclips, but in general, in my opinion. It's very clear and easy to watch, you give out some awesome tips, and I never get bored of this, I could watch your lessons for hours straight away, though it would be just too much learning at the same time, heheh! Thank you for sharing these awesome techniques, lessons, and so on in the endless list! It's a big help!
I still have them. I have a set of DW 9000's, Speed Cobras, Iron Cobras, Gibraltar direct drives, and Yamaha Flying Dragons. They all have certain aspects of them that I like so I don't just limit myself to playing with a single brand of pedal.
Why have you never used slow motion in before? This is awesome!! It shows pretty well how the technique goes. I'm already practicing the heel-toe technique and this would be my next goal. Thank you so much for this lesson.
you are the first best drummer that i had met who helps others like other good drummers dont share these things ... whatever it is you are the best teacher i have ever had thank you ...
Great lesson! My triples on the kick fall apart around 90bpm. I figured there was a technique I was missing. Sade - No Ordinary Love and Outkast - So Fresh and So Clean are great for this. Back to the set to get them up to speed. Thanks Jared!
U know .. I have been trying to FIGURE this HEAL TOE method.. and I have viewed a few various videos... and this posting does show the method well. Thank you very much.
the only way i can explain how to go fast with your feet after my experiences of playing metal in my drumming career is that its like a nervous twitch with your ankles basically just keep tapping your feet on the ground while you sit but behind your drumkit
I dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me
Great lesson, but it really does look like a heel-toe + slide, at full speed. I had success with this taking that approach. I start a heel-toe in the same heel-up position, which took a lot of practice at first as I was always a heel-down drummer. :)
@DRUMEO so I learned slide for double before heel-toe, so I think k I have a technique down, but I start with the slide, and get the last two strokes with heel-toe. Seems to reason you could incorporate any two of the three techniques to get a third stroke. I bet with good timing you could get a fourth stroke in there aswell
Hay man I liked this lesson because I enjoy chalanging drums. It's basically the same way ive been doing it, nice to see that I'm not the only one but I do like the fact that you add that little slide on the 3'rd stroke. BTW this technique is called the mollear technique, and that little movement you add on the 3'rd stroke is called swivel (not slide) Keep rocking :))
Awesome vid! Ive got the heel toe pretty much down, but now Im trying to develop my slide technique. Ive searched through quite a few of your videos, but I cant find any slide technique development practices. The funny thing is, I can do it with just a bass drum - nothing else- but cant do it in the middle of beats. As well as this, I find it hard to keep the ability of playing the slide technique consistent. Any advice from anyone or from other videos would really help!
very very interesting technique indeed, but what happens when you have to accentuate the first or the second note? also what you’re doing when you need an open resonant sound on the bd?
I’m a drummer, and I think I’ve gotten down most of the bass drum techniques so far, but I’ve been at a halt with this triplet technique for months now. I am so frustrated because no matter how many heel-toe-slide variations I attempt, I simply can’t get that smooth feel that would make me feel confident to use it whenever I wish. Anyone here know a quicker/simpler/swifter way of learning this easier?
this technic doesn't work very well... I don't know what's wrong but even when you drop your foot, you lose so much time that the pedal is in a position, where the last two strokes can't be done...
ruclips.net/video/8xFoEluBVOU/видео.html Can anybody tell me the type of snare, and preferably the brand, sampled in this song? I've been looking all over and I can't seem to figure it out! It sounds amazing!!
I’ve struggled with a few songs so much I almost gave up on them … literally MONTHS . Nailed them 15 minutes after watching this !!! Thanks and God bless ! You truly understand that we are put on this earth to help each other
You actually just helped me a lot. Once you know how exactly to do it it becomes really easy and after a few minutes I got it.
Thanks 😌👌
I thought you were playing smooth criminal at the beggining
P-tom Richi he totally was
no he was just doing triplets ahead and behind the beat in cool ways and it sounded like smooth criminal.. i think..
yup
Sounds like John the Fisherman to me
Came here for this lmao

just finally got the slide/twist in at the end tonight to finally here it come together. Thanks Jared. Great technique lesson for a hack like me.

The best drum teacher and drum lessons.
That could be my favorite lesson.

I was demonstrating them with the groove as 16th notes. You can play any note value you want though.

great lesson, Jared, and amazing drum-tips, thanks for you r efforts :)
damn that beat is SWEET!! could you post a vid playing it longer?
What a reasonable bpm you guys are achieving with this technique? I'm struggling at 100bpm 16th note triple strokes. Some perspective would help.
Can we do ankle technique in triple strokes?
Best comment of the day!
Excellent.!

I have been doing this for years.
also best to learn it from the song 'walk this way' :)
Yes, I have a healthy diet of Canadian bacon, beer, and maple syrup.

You're high.
Take 10-12 months straight each instrument. Don't mix them!
What about 4 strokes and above?
I have a request for Calum Rees. Can he please do some drum tutorials of the songs from Brian Doerksen like creation calls? Please help.
Great video! :D
I feel that I could easily incorporate this into my playing.
wowww you're good

Hey jared whats max speed a triple bass drummer can play at
The luxe
Jared, you took some fitness heh :P
Is this a good technique to learn bass drum for "Evil that men do" by Iron Maiden?
In that song I would use a double bass pedal. Double stroke with the right followed by one stroke with the left
helpful for where eagles dare-iron maiden
this is useful for playing bleed by meshugaah xD
what about 4 and 5?
I WANT YOUR SHOES
Isn’t this guy from the movies blades of glory
com esse pedalzinho ai fraco é facil fazer tudo kkkkkk :P
Feels a lot like "Moeller" on your feet... ^^
your were playing bad by MJ??
Intro grove notes?
Can't you just do that with a straight up heel toe method? I kind of just use heel toe for everything. Is that bad?
Yea way better ways to play
@ConorSloane118 try it at 0:36 or 0:37 it looks pretty funny ^^
Can i het some drumeo Shirt in switzerland?
WHY DO YOU CHANGE YOUR SPEED COBRA FOR DW 9000
this technic doesn't work very well... I don't know what's wrong but even when you drop your foot, you lose so much time that the pedal is in a position, where the last two strokes can't be done...
No Falking way
Jared from subway
Maybe I just missed the ones you used it xD
this was 11 years ago what the fuck

how long does it take to get doubles on base to a respectable level?
Jacob Kendrick It's all down to practice.
2:38 that's what my bass drum actually sounds like it sucks lol
Aw, Jared. What happend to the Speed Cobras? :/
triple strokes are easy if you arent a hard hitter you need to let that junk bounce
I never realized how awful i am until now
ruclips.net/video/8xFoEluBVOU/видео.html Can anybody tell me the type of snare, and preferably the brand, sampled in this song? I've been looking all over and I can't seem to figure it out! It sounds amazing!!
