A more effective way of keeping two quick notes the same volume is to play the strokes by way of allowing the beater to bounce off the bass drum head as opposed to burying the beater into the drum head.. It’s simply a law of physics.. Just like a stick plays double strokes on a snare drum.... Really should have shown the technique for playing 3 triplets on the foot as shown in the beginning. That can be studied if you slow the speed down to 1/2 or even slower.
A nice tip to play triplets is playing the first note with your heel down, then you bring your heel up to play normal double strokes. I'm also shocked about this video, Larnell is my best!
I know this is an intermediate skill to have, and if you're practicing this you should already know how your equipment functions, but you also need to know how to adjust the tension on your pedal to do this effectively. It doesn't matter how fast your double kicks are if you can't get a high quality sound out of both strokes. Even here when he plays the first note lower you can still hear that the quality of both notes is very high. that has almost nothing to do with his technique, and everything to do with how much tension his pedal has.
