I dont think so, it still says you have to insert the probe all the way to avoid damage. if the piece of meat is still big enough to allow the probe to be inserted then yes. It gives you the reading of the lowest temp out of the 3 sensors so whichever is closest to the middle you will get that reading.
Thank you. So, you won’t be able to see the 4 temps like I did. When I made this I had an earlier version of the software that was for testing and demonstrating. After an update I found mine wasn’t showing the 3 temps either so I contacted MeatStick and they told me it was only on the early software. It still is using the 3 probes to monitor internal temp you just can’t see them.
@@SmokestackJoesthen what’s the purpose of having 4 temps in a probe which we won’t be able to see anymore:) it is the most nonsense thing they have done.
I'm still leaning towards the meater, just the app itself is so much more convenient, meatstick has a long way to go in that aspect, and I really don't think you need 3 internal sensors anyway, unless they're all working together to give you an all round overall temp but I don't think that's the case. Seems more of a gimmick.
I thought the same thing about the 3 sensors but I really enjoy that feature now. Its great in case you don't put the probe in completely straight or you hit a fat pocket, you have back up sensors. It gives you the temp of the lowest reading of the 3 sensors.
The MeatStick does have a little bit more range but when the TempSpike is on sale it’s a great price, I’ve seen them for as low as $45 which is hard to beat. I do like the Twin temspike a lot and the MeatStick chef X because of its smaller size
Its not great, mine lost signal on first cook, no big deal I expected it would re connect when I opened smoker top and it would not re connect, so 2 hours into a pork shoulder cook.. fail ! Stick with tried and true
I have found a lot of the wireless thermometers have connectivity issues. You have to make sure the base is close to the temp probe but sometimes that's not enough
I have a Meater+. It's dead and stays where it is. I let it get too hot once and it fried the probe. Meater replaced the probe for no charge "this one time" after they reviewed my cook data in the cloud and confirmed it got too hot. Replacement probe worked about 3 times and stopped charging. Now I have a $200 paperweight. Until they make a model of better quality that can survive higher temps I'll not buy another one from anyone.
I can’t blame you. I don’t think the technology is completely there yet. They can make things pretty convenient but the reliability and accuracy over time seems to be an issue with ALL the wireless thermometers. As well as sporadic connectivity issues.
@@SmokestackJoes I actually went back to a old school basic $40 wireless Thermopro setup with three probes, one cook chamber and two for meat. No fancy wifi/Bluetooth features, no apps, no ability to look at my cook from work. It's reliable and just works.
@@jamesg8246 I've been thinking of doing the same thing. Thats how I used to do it and it was nice not having to worry about apps and having the charging block near by. I think I had an inkbird but the issue I had was The probes kept failing and were way off in temp.
@@SmokestackJoes My neighbor smoking buddy has one of those. He seems to like it. I wouldn't mind being able to connect my phone locally, but all the extra features of the Meater seemed unnecessary. The cook time estimates weren't reliable, the recommendations weren't useful... some things just don't benefit from technology. There's something about taking the day off and dedicating it to monitoring the temps in person while having a beer or twelve sitting outside that's appealing to me. ;)

So am using it for first time and it's crap. Internal temp seems close of food but the ambient temp is 100 degrees off from my wires inkbird. Waste of money.
Meater plus is way off on temp and doubt I would ever buy anything from this company It also explains why they no longer provide service since it’s been replaced
Thank you so much for the awesome review! We really appreciate it!🙌🔥
Any time! You have great products
Can you use the 4x on a smaller cut of meat since it has 3 sensors and you can read each sensor separately? Essentially replacing your mini?

Was actually looking at getting a wireless thermometer. Good review, but, a true comparison between others would be nice.
Thank you. If you are interested in a comparison video check this one out I did ruclips.net/video/eKGER0XSL_o/видео.html
Great review. I can't seem to get 4 temp readouts on my Meatstick 4 the way your app shows it?

@@SmokestackJoes That would be unfortunate, bordering on false advertising.

The Meatstick 4x i received is junk and customer service is horrible.
Thank you, but I can’t find that knife. Do you think you can give me a direct link?
That's my fault, I forgot to put it in the description.
Here is the link for it amzn.to/417s6wE
Thanks for the comment!
I'm stuck between the meatstick 4x amd the tempstick. HELP PLEASE!

which one would you say is more accurate?
They both have the same accuracy, internal is usually pretty good but ambient seems to be lower readings on both of them

I just got this and used it this weekend and it was non stop disconnecting had to take it out this is junk .
If people cannot cook without one then they should give up cooking.
Agree
no, because most people come into this category. These devices fill a niche, unless you want to come around and cook for me : )
You’re doing all this for a 20 min steak. That’s not what these probes are meant for. And yeah, you overcooked your steak.
