Love my new twin temp spike very much. One "flaw" (IMHO) though. The booster turns itself on when you remove the spikes from it. But, the booster doesn't shut itself off unless the temp spikes are placed in their slots. And, that's after five minutes. There is no 'on' or 'off" switch that I can find. And, I've read the manual and experimented. But, who is going to put dirty and warm or hot temp spikes in the plastic booster slot? Just to turn it off. In fact, I put mine in the dishwasher.
There’s a really interesting video on this exact phenomenon somewhere but the range of medium rare is really about 132-143 ish but it depends on the individual priece of meat which is why all the top bbq guys use thermometers as a guideline but pull based on feel
No I didn't mention it in this video. I did talk about it in the other tempspike video I made. It is a great option if you have a tablet or something you can leave near the base.
I'm sorry, maybe I misunderstood something but you've cooked both stake the same way for the same duration of time, disregarding the measurements of the device (one was showing temperature 5 off the other but you kept cooking) and in the end Surprise Surprise they tasted pretty much the same. The rest of the review was decent, comparing sizes, battery, range etc. But what I wanted to know is if I follow the temp from the device (which is it's main goal) will I get similar results. Your review does not answer that. It just tells me that if I stick both rods in different stakes and cook them in the same way they will taste the same.... What a surprise!
I didnt check range in the house because it usually always disconnects when I go inside because I have moved my grill pretty far away from my house. I thought checking distance outside would give a good comparison of the 2.
I own both of these. The Temp Spike is just plain better!
Especially considering the price of it too
I'm new to the temp spike. They are awesome!
I bought my Thermo Pro for about $68.00 bucks with a sale. That was Amazon and a special and I am happy with it!
The best thing about thermopro is the deals they offer, you cant get a better price then what they have
Which temp spike is best, the pro or the twin thermometer? I’ve heard the twin is not as accurate as the pro.
bought a thermopro tempspike and it broke after a few months of use. Very bummed.

This is a very good point and wondered the same thing. I cant imagine it being to hard to just add an on/off switch
Ambient temp should be lower due to evaporation from the meat. You could probably test that by wrapping in foil and seeing if there is a differu
You are spot on. I did a FAQ video on the meatstick thermometers and explained why ambient temps are usually off
wait , the steak on the right read 142. I thought you wanted a medium rare. safe to say you overcooked the steak on the right side ? thanks.
Yes it was probably more towards medium, I've found with the thicker cuts of meat you can cook them a little longer with out overcooking them though.

You didn’t talk about the bridging capability of the Meater+ giving it full wireless monitoring via anywhere? Does the Tempspike offer that option?

Customer service is off the hook!
Temp Spike for $49.99 right now at Best Buy
Nice comparison video. I've got the first version Spike and it works pretty good. Like the new probe design.
The new smaller thinner probe is really nice
Didn't check range inside of a house.

Any info on the Chef IQ probes?
Pass on the sugar on a steak
I own only thermopro temspikes
