Now that's dancing. We definitely have a rich history in music, song and dance. This was during my grandparents generation. I love the legacy that's been passed and very proud. 💖💖💖🎤🎤🎤
Great mashup with the Nicholas Brothers dancing. Even more amazing when we remember that dance sequence was filmed in one take. No computer graphic studio magic there.
Now, I am a person who loves folk music and listen to that genre of music all the time, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Peter. Paul & Mary. Donovan, and hundreds more folk singers and groups on a regular basis. But......for some reason I love this song, "The Harlem Shuffle." Even though as far from folk music genre you can get, there is just something about listening to this song that I really love.
over 60 covers recorded, however, check out The Traits, Wayne Cocharn and finally............The Fabulous Flippers for great covers of the fast version.
WOW amazing dancers there spins & Russian rolls are so slick , really fast version not heard before great video love black&white films seem more nostalgic
Get out! Back in the day - how innovative, slick, athletic, acrobatic and imaginative is this? The timing and choreography - I'm speechless. How blessed were the audience to witness this all those years ago.
Brilliant match up of music that comes some 40 years (or may be 30, I don't want to exaggerate) after their dance performance. You know, one really realize the dimension of time.
@@wolfgangscorpio4125 when the disc was released, the brothers were already in their fifties and with the quality of the clip image, it may date from the same period as the disc... 😉
C'est Vraiment flippant de certain noir afro américain des années anciennes ! Comme la danse de l' Arrière de Michael Jackson qui a était repris des années 47 !
The men dancing is the Nicholas Brothers. The short one played N the five heart beats (dance instructor). Integrations has failed blk ppl time 2 get back 2 us. Those that don't agree don't agree. But stop stopping us.
I guess with all the name changing these guys went through, it's easier for us to find them under the Bob and Earl tag, Jackie (Earl) was the Earl in Bob and Earl, correct?
quinn coco : Check Out : ‘Hellzapoppin ‘ if you Love Dancing! Ken Burns great Jazz Doc Has the ‘Short’ that was released in ( the 1940’s)...there is another Version on You Tube, but it’s fun to see them Dancing from beneath a glass floor!
This looks to me like an old dance movie that some sound engineer synchronized to a sped up version of a song that was written and first recorded in 1963. The Bob and Earl recording is a once in a lifetime masterpiece. I haven't heard any covers that get close to it.
Fred Astaire comes to mind .on this one ! Don't see talent like this anymore ; probably wont ! can't be taught and those that could teach it have left us .
On this day in 1963 {December 15th} "Harlem Shuffle" by Bob and Earl entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #44 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100... Twenty-three years later in 1986 the Rolling Stones covered it; and on April 27th, 1986 their version reached #5 on the Top 100 and #2 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart... Bob and Earl had one other Top 100 record, "Don't Ever Leave Me", it peaked at #85 in 1962 {available on You Tube}... R.I.P. 'Bob' Relf {1937 - 2007} and 'Earl' Nelson {1928 - 2008}...
The original clip is from the 1942 movie Orchestra Wives. The Nicholas Brothers sing and dance the finale to the big musical number "I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo" which was introduced in this movie by the Glenn Miller Orchestra with Tex Beneke, Marion Hutton and the Modernaires. The song was nominated for an Academy Award, and the Glenn Miller record that was released spent eight weeks at #1 and became a standard. The Nicholas Brothers come in at about 4:15. ruclips.net/video/fFv_PoZ2iP0/видео.html
This was actually a follow-up to the movie Sun Valley Serenade from the year before (1941) when the Glenn Miller Orchestra had introduced the song Chattanooga Choo Choo, which became the first certified Gold Record ever. The Nicholas Brothers similarly danced and sang us out of that song, along with Dorothy Dandridge: ruclips.net/video/bGBwmLRNLJ4/видео.html
Awesome version. I gonna reseaech see if Bob was on the record too. The original is pure Midtempo magic and helped birth the popcorn scene in Belgium and the Beach music scene in the States but this is pure hi energy Northern Soul. Cracking find, even if it took me 7 years hahaha.
Lyrics You move it to the left Yeah, and you go for yourself You move it to the right Yeah, if it takes all night Now take it kinda slow With a whole lot of soul Don't move it too fast You make it last You know scratch just like a monkey Yeah you do real, yeah You slide it to the limbo Yeah, how low can you go? Oh, come on baby I don't want you to stumble now You just groove it right here to the Harlem Shuffle Oh, do the monkeyshiner (Yeah, yeah, yeah do the harlem shuffle) Hitch, hitch-hike baby Across the floor Whoa, whoa, whoa I can't stand it no more Now come on baby Now get into your slide We're gonna ride, ride, ride Little pony, ride! There is also the Re-recorded with the NEW Bob (Relf), the original Bob being Bobby Byrd a.k.a Bobby Day of "Rockin Robin'" fame. Bob et Earl ils ont fait cette chanson en 1963 alors plutôt pas loin de 60 ans ...😉
@@tade769 Yes. However, this dance performance by the Nicholas Brothers predates the music by some 40 or 30 years. That's what I meant to say.
