I was born 1964. My parents were very young. We didn't have any furniture in our living room but an old easy chair from my mom's mother and an old rocking chair from my Dad's mother. There was also a record player and a tiny black and white TV. One of my earliest memories is dancing the Twist with my parents to an appearance on some rock show.

Second one of those moments where you are when something tragic happens like, Kennedy, Princess Diana, and 9/11. For me sitting in Oklahoma City airport on my way to Dallas - I immediately bought his greatest hits cassette for my journey - I would drive back to Denver from Dallas with it playing continuously... Thanks Toni for the memories! While I was a kid in the 60‘s (12 in 69) I had 2 older sisters who were in high school when these dances were popular. So they would always be trying them out at home with me watching. Result- I was one of the only guys in high school who knew how to dance…at least a little. I was very popular on the dance floor. Even more so when disco hit the scene in the late 70‘s! What fun we had! Cheers and thanks again! I‘ve always enjoyed your movies and congrats on finally getting your recognition for „Mickie“.

Growing up in Louisiana and having been a teenager in the 60s..i can attest to the authenticity of these moves...notably when the dancers, doing the TWIST, did that slight leg lift during the finish of a twist cycle..And i admired the smooth galloping on the dancers doing the PONY..I once won.a dance contest using the PONY as my central move..I won a Gentrys album, KEEP ON DANCING..There were lots of teeage garage bands then that did covers of R &B that gave us plenty of chances to hit dance floor...This is so fun to see these clips. @@carolyndarley1045 Brucey's statement is still correct. James WAS dance in the 60s, and he invented his own moves; The Camel Walk, The Popcorn and most notably The James Brown. Among many, many others.

Hang on. This is THE Toni Basil of "Oh Mickey" fame? So cool. I used to do the music in a Ballroom dance school in Australia and we used it all the time for progressive dances. Man, watching 200 couples burning a dance floor to this tune was awesome. So infectious. I'm playing it now and typing in rhythm. Thank Toni for some great memories.
