    I've managed to run 44 of them + know the pain + the ecstacy of finishing.
    The only suggestion I have for you is to invest in some serious running apparel.
    The kit you wore was too heavy + restrictive.
    You definitely had too many layers + you would have had to work harder.
    All part of the learning curve in adapting to this endurance event.
    Different kit for different weather conditions.
    Once again well done + good luck in your running career!

    The inner thigh/groin chaffing: let’s see some pics! I know during my training for my first half marathon (which I’m currently training for) the first time I ran 10 miles, I felt the inner thigh chaffing until I didn’t. When I got in the shower afterwards, the BURN WAS REAL! When I inspected the source of the burning, I was straight bleeding from my inner thighs. BLEEDING! I’ve since gotten some body glide which I put on my inner thighs, and also my arm pits and chest area. Basically, anywhere that could potentially rub during long runs! It has saved my skin! Like, literally....I haven’t had any bleeding or major skin chaffing since. P.S. I’m 5’4 and 125 lbs, so this shit isn’t just for heavier folks. It’s for everyone! Get some! Great job btw. I’ve been a runner for year and I’m looking at a comfortable pace of 10:20 per mile for my first half. Nicely done!

    • @Jaigarful
      @Jaigarful 5 лет назад

      Yeah, I just started training for the Flying Pig Half Marathon (Notoriously hilly) in January hoping for around the same pace. I had really bad chaffing issues that an anti-chaffing stick has completely fixed. Although I don't know how long it lasts. We did a 8.7 mile run this morning and I was fine.

    Thanks for the brilliant and hilarious video. I’m 65, and have been running 2000 - 3000 km a year for five years. Most of my training targets half marathon events, typically after a 13- or 20-week training cycle for each event. As it happens, I had a calf strain 45 days ago, which prevented me from training (in week-13 of my program). But I raced today, my first run in 45 days, a foolish little experiment to see what I could do. I knew it would not feel great but I want to convey to any newbies out there just how much worse the resulting pain, suffering and post-race cramps were, compared to racing in a trained condition (the worst cramps I have experienced). The pain had nothing to do with my calf injury, now healed, and everything to do with out-of-condition legs (my cardio fitness is OK as I kept on top of that when I couldn’t run). My advice: don’t even think about running your first half marathon without some consistent training, unless you enjoy pain. There is no better feeling than getting your pacing right and being able to finish strong. Todays race was my slowest ever, and by far the most difficult I have done.
