I am hoping to break this in a Race Marathon tomorrow which should give me a good for age time for the London Marathon going forward. Brilliant... that's definitely an inspiration to us bigger guys... I was 125kg 2yrs ago.. I started running using Couch to 5k.. its a 9 week program and I completed 5k on week 8 in 32mins, my weight went down to 105kg ... then I stopped... life got in the way I suppose.. my weight went up to 115kg .... im now sitting here literally just finished a 2.5km trail run, my first run in 18 months ... shattered and looking for inspiration I found your channel.. brilliant... keep it going... 👍

Amazing Dave, well thank you for watching. I think there is a slightly untapped market out there for running as a bigger guy.
I spoke to Sonny this morning and he had just completed parkrun - he’s shooting for the sub 30
Keep it up Dave, it’ll be worth it, being fitter just makes everyday life easier.

I had a realisation at the age of 37/38. Eating too much, drinking, smoking not monitoring anything around my health and suddenly hitting 17.5 stone - the absolute heaviest I had ever been. I gave up smoking and monitored my diet. As soon as the first lockdown hit I tried running. With drive, focus and support of others I continued my journey and went from 3k - 5k, from 5k - 10k and beyond. Soon I had time goals and distance goals. I still have lots of goals I want to hit but I run half marathons and hit times I could only dream of. I haven’t smoked for years I eat healthy and wouldn’t change it for the world. Life is a journey and what a journey it can be when your running. Well done sonny - super inspirational and I felt every step along than journey. Amazing ✊

I started running, and at Christmas 2019 a friend of mine ran with me and became my encouragement. In August 2020 I ran my first half (2h25) and haven’t looked back. Last year I ran 10 half’s and this year, my friend is encouraging me to prepare to run my first full.. especially since I am now at my goal weight of 180 lbs. Sonny I am proud of you. When you lose some weight, running becomes more enjoyable and goals become achievable.

Brilliant inspiration here. I came down with the flu back in May and dealing with the after effects I kind of stopped running. In retrospect quite the excuse, but I am planning to get back in it as I did sign up for a spartan race this September. Unfortunately I am in quarantine currently so til this is over I have to rely on living vicariously through people like you and Sonny. Soon though, I wanna get back.

Big fan here, great videos for general runners like me. Now that I feel very confident with 10K runs I'll have my first ever 21K in about two months, so the time is ticking. Hope to end up with similar 2 hours 30, which is an excellent time.

Got a massive smile on my face after watching this one, nice one Sonny, I can draw so many similarities between where he was in this video and where I am now, such a relatable story I think for many of us, and fantastic to see him conquering barriers he thought were insurmountable at the beginning.

@@thisisjogon I've been watching quite a few of your videos the last couple of days and they are very nice to watch. Especially the ones where you and others are trying someone to help to break a time barrier on the 5k. Seeing areas where I have been cycling through gives it something extra of course.
