Sarah will run a sub 45 - her disappointment at 12 secs and determination will drive her on. I am looking to break 35 mins(35.45 pb) 10k, 1.18 (1.18.45 PB) half marathon before 40 next year.
Sarah should go for 42 minutes next 😉 I may not be training for any PB, but I did do a leisurely stroll today and just so happen to have done my best time for a half marathon! Yes, it was road (yuck) and flat*, but I was close to doing it under 2 hours which for me would be an amazing time! *Netherlands is so flat! I miss the trails in South Africa 😀
Sarah has inspired me a lot as an average runner. Running my first 5k tomorrow and my goals are to finish the race in 30 min or 45 min or just finish it without walking. Thank you Running Channel for all your videos! Edit: Did it at 43min! Didn't expect the elevations in some parts of the route. I learned a lot more about what my body is capable of. I'll incorporate more hills and strength training next time so that I can improve my endurance. 😊
In the last few months I have brought my pb down from 57 to 48.31.. now videos like this inspire us... where people like us...who are not athletes as such..push for their best and get there...thanks team TRC. Kudos Sarah
For many people starting out focusing on 3k and 5k times are more realistic and then using the 10k runs to help build that 5k time based foundation maybe a better approach.
These kinds of things are great. Watching someone, not just the highest level athletes, challenge their limits and see what they are capable of on the day. Brilliant! It's scary, exciting, nerve-wracking, thrilling, everything! Way to push your boundaries, you're on your way to your goals! Keep your eyes forward, mastery is a life long ambition. You have many years of growth and improvement ahead of you. Never know how far you will go unless you try.
I actually felt a bit emotional watching this! It’s amazing how far Sarah has come since she first joined TRC, watching her do her first marathon, ultra and now an incredible 10k pb!! Well done x
Could see Sarah was gutted not to break the 45 minute barrier but that was a bloody good effort! And an an amazing chunk off her old PB in conditions that looked far from optimal. Sport can give us highs and lows, it's never linear but personally, when I miss out on a certain goal I'd planned to achieve, it makes me more determined to go better the next time, you have plenty of time to reach that goal, very inspirational!! Well done Sarah
Commenting on an old video here but I got freaking goosebumps watching this. Missing out by 12 seconds is nothing, like 1 second per K, which means that you where almost perfectly on pace which is a hard thing to do. Really impressive and inspiring!
Well done Sarah, that's a huge new PB! I'm always impressed by how this channel is open about not meeting goals, and how it frames it in a positive way rather than as a failure. You'll get that sub-45 another day.
Congratulation Sarah for your new PB. You will get a sub 45 in your next 10k race. My PB for 10k is 44:03 it will be tough to improve but i work on it . I am looking forward to knowing your next challenge, have a great week-end and resting time 🙂🙂
The running channel has inspired me so much. 9 months back I had my 1st baby & after a month or so of delivery I was not able to walk and had to start physical therapy. I was in the worst physical shape of my life! Watching your videos and the encouragement from my husband I started running again. Next weekend on the 2nd of Oct I’m running my first 10 mile race 🤗 I’m excited & nervous at the same time, I know I am capable of finishing the race. Running has helped me feel like myself ❤
Tremendous achievement. Well done. For my 65th birthday Present to myself I’ve entered a 55kms one day Ultra Marathon in the Azores. 16 weeks of training start in late January, preceded by some serious strength and conditioning in the gym. My friends are already calling it a late life crisis. Wish me luck.
Well done! I’m 56, 45 minutes has been my goal for the last 2 years, but life just keeps getting in the way. Current PB is just about 50 minutes, but more realistically run around 52-55 minutes. Mad props to you Sarah! Thank you for the tips.
I always thought you were either a good runner or you aren't. Watching Sarah's journey along the videos has been so inspiring, currently working on getting my own 10k under an hour, and staying consistent with my runs! 🥰
Amazing effort! You totally have it. I'm still after a sub-25 5k. I've failed many attempts but I've been, very slowly, chipping away at the time. Hugely motivated by your work Sarah.
Unlucky Sarah! But well done on the PB, and so close! I did 44:48 for 10k on treadmill today (first third of a long run) before I watched this video: but I knew the video was up, and hoped when I got back from gym to watch it, Sarah would have broken it too. You'll get there. Pace on the treadmill was 13.4k per hour. At just 13.3k pace - may not have made it. Don't overlook treadmill training. It will get you better time for most goals, and doesn't let you slack off, like your legs might be tempted to outdoors 😏
Amazing! Well done Sarah! 🎉 Just think, that's 1.5 seconds per km you were out by. That's so achievable! I ran a 20:04 5k and beat myself up that it wasn't sub 20 but then that's just 1 second per km and I did shave 3:30 off my PB! You've done so well, I am truly inspired. Now, if I was fitting multiple injuries I would be pushing for more PB's!
Umm… It’s only off by 1.2s/km… (12s/10km). Back when I was running 10k every Mon/Wed/Fri and GPS on your wrist just wasn’t a thing, I finally broke down and measured my course (very accurately) with my road bike… it was 6.7 miles, not 6.2! Instant new PB!
I watched it 6 months back when my 10k PB was 49 min and was not improving much, I got inspired from this video and trained hard, last week I have done 44.20 10k in my Half marathon race.
I hope you realized that a sub 45min is completely doable for you! And that’s the big thing to note! A few seconds over or under don’t change that. Weather does make a difference. Congratulations on the PB! 🎉
What a huge accomplishment! I recently worked on getting my 5K time down and I shaved off 2 minutes through some hard training. Still hoping to shave another minute off my 5K.
Great video, and it was an awesome night too. Sarah and Andy both stayed around for ages to talk to everyone who came, they’re even nicer in person than on the channel! My big goal for 2021 was to run an ultra, which I did in July. Since then I’ve been training for a sub 2 half, which I am attempting tomorrow!
Hi Sam, so lovely to see you at our event to support Sarah! Congrats on your ultra and good luck for your sub 2 hour half - let us know how you get on 😄
Did the GNR two weeks ago not feeling especially in great form, expecting for maybe 1:30 at a push, somehow pulled out a 1:27:00. Was very impressed with myself. Did Lincoln half last weekend too, expecting about 1:35 as I was pretty broken from GNR, did 1:28:48! I think the cool weather helped so much, heat just saps so much energy. Sarah will smash that 45 soon enough!
Really exciting conclusion. My 8yr old son has started running with me and is doing 3k twice a week. He loves watching your videos and it inspires him to train more.
Oh my dear Sarah. You can see the disappointment in your face when you announce your time, but you have this strength in you that shined through. If you see this, I want you to know that you've inspired miles on miles of my running & you give me the confidence & strength to push through the not-so-great runs too. Theres no doubt in my mind that you'll get to sub-45 very soon. Thank you!
Wow, You are all so inspirational. Because of this channel and all the positivity I took up running again earlier this year aged 57 (after 10 years of power lifting). Next month I run my first Ultra!!! It won't be fast or pretty but it will be an incredible achievement for me. Thanks Sarah for your infectious smile,
As a beginner, I am guilty of the fastest 2k at the start thing haha. I always get carried away lol. Yesterday I got my new 5k PB (23m29s), 2 months ago I can't even do a sub 30min 🥺. Thanks to your videos, it inspires us non-athletes to do better. To all starters out there just like me just stay on track because consistency is the key. Slowly build up endurance then add speedworks. It does not happen overnight so stay consistent on your training ☺️ and please check your running form haha take care of your jointsss 🦵🏽🦶🏽
Had the honour of coming down on the day and can say it was an incredible evening!! Thanks so much to The Running Channel for organising it and congrats on your new pb Sarah - you’re such an inspiration!! 🎉🎉
What an inspiring video and well done Sarah. It was so hot that day, so I knew and predicted it would be hard to go sub 45, but you really did great and I am sure with better conditions you would have gone sub 45. I have no doubt you will break that barrier soon. I am training for sub 40 minutes after 4 years of close to no running. My PB, before I stopped running was 36 low, but I have gotten older, so I need some extra effort to get back in shape. I started running again 3,5 months back and after starting slowly am now at 4 times a week and 50km/week. This video gave me inspiration for my sub 19:30 minutes attempt in 2 weeks and sub 40 minutes attempt in 3 weeks time.
Congratulations! I am chasing a sub 2:10:00 half and have a current PB of 2:10:14. It can almost be harder to be so close than to be minutes away. Thanks for sharing your journey and the experience. Being in front of a crowd would definitely make it more nerve inducing when you are running alone. Looking forward to continuing to see your running journey.
I started my training for a sub 3:30 marathon at the end of May next year just now, so seeing Sarah smash her PB in not-so-optimal temperatures is inspiring!
Awesome effort Sarah!! i was on target to get my 30 min (currebt PB 30:48) 5k but I kinda got distracred but I'll get there this year! Then my new goal will then be 1hr 10k!!
I'm currently working towards breaking 35mins for 10k - did 35:00.03 just 11 days ago, new pb by a long way, but damn that hurt 😂. Sarah can break 44 for sure, how much lower depends on the distances trained for - I started 5k specific training and dropped from 18ish to 16:30 in a couple of months, so anything is possible 👍🏻
Sarah, you're amazing! I have been running 10k everyday for 120 days now, and only at my 100th I crushed my PB from 55 to 49 min. And that's downhill. Sub-45 is really tough, but you inspired me to even try it once. Thanks for this!
Found myself gasping for breath as Sarah crossed the finish line. Well done! Might not have been the victory she wanted but it is the inspiration that so many need.
I just finished my first 21km. Been training for it since March 2022. Finished 21km in 3hrs 30min. Experience i cant never forget. watching ur vids inspired me and i really feel goosebump when watching u reaching the finish line. The best feeling ever! (im a obese runner by the way)
Well done! Personally I'm gunning for 3:30 on my first marathon in Amsterdam next month but I might have to adjust my expectations after my 20 miler tomorrow 😅
You did freaking amazing! As they all said, it was a hot day/night and you were only off by such a small amount. Honestly, yes 12 seconds is 12 seconds…but it’s ONLY 12 seconds! You got down to that 45! We’re all proud of your hard work ❤ so inspiring!
I did my first 1/2 Marathon last week. I've been training all year. My goal was sub 2 hours but I did 2:01:02 so I know where you're at. Well done it will happen
I've just recently run a 47min 10k and was so pleased but now going for a sub 45 and after watching this am more determined to do. Thanks again to the running channel. 👍
Ran my first 10k about 30 minutes ago finishing in 1hr 10minutes without running in about 17 years. Your channel has motivated me to start running again. Such a mental block being a sub 5 minute miler going from 160lbs to 245lbs but I can't wait to get in shape, thanks again!
Tremendous effort. This year I tried to run 10km in 55 minutes. I also achieved 12 seconds outside my desired time. Forward a few months of training and r&r I decided to give it another go and achieved a 49:01. You never know where it may come from or when. You may achieve it during a half marathon but you'll do it. Hopefully we'll be around to see more of your PBs!!
Hey, I am from Bangladesh. I started running around this time last year. My longest distance so far is a half marathon with my PB just about sub 2 hour. Now I am training for a sub 1 hr 50 mins half marathon. I have been following the running channel for a while now and found Sarah to be close to me in terms of my timings, until, a few months back 😛 However she has improved leaps and this video inspires me so much to keep pushing myself. Well done Sarah.
Fantastic work Sarah, loved this journey and the video content attached to it! I recently got a sub 36 minute 10km PB, after a year of training for it! You must be buzzed right now.
Sarah insipired me to run my first marathon and my first ultra. She continues to be a wonderful force for all of us “average” runners around the world. Well done, Sarah. And thank you TRC for the stellar content.
Well done Sarah and everyone supporting her by either pacing, coaching, physical therapy or cheering in the crowd! I have been chasing much less competitive times for multipe distances and look forward to the next 2 months of cooler weather to get a real shot at my goals as it is often the heat that gets me (and corona the past 2 weeks). Enjoy the Berlin marathon today! 💙💪👏
Firstly well done!! You know how I know you WILL break 35 mins is because you're disappointed with missing it by 12 secs and no matter what anyone says you're not happy- attitude of a champ.
Sarah is a SuperSTAR! You are an inspiration. Keep doing what you are doing; not only for your personal goals, but also for the viewers who have no other support around them, but from the TRC.
I was in tears when I heard you say you were gutted. I have been there before and felt your emotion....all the hard work and you miss your goal by literally seconds. It's tough, but you just need get up and keep working at it. Its a huge positive that you beat your PB by so much (almost 3 minutes) and that is what you need to focus on!!!! Well Done Sarah!!! And I look forward to seeing the day you do beat the 45 min 10k...
Well done sarah, 🎉 That’s almost 3 minutes on your previous pb. You inspire me and a lot of people around. Thanks to the running channel. Cheers from down under 🇦🇺🦘
It’s such a great run..95% of people watching this would have no chance in the real world of running 45.xx regardless of what they post….that’s a really great level of fitness that the vast majority of people will never achieve…brilliant stuff!
This channel inspired me to start running again at 53 after years of not running. Just about to begin week 5 of c25k, feel so much better mentally and physically hadn't realised how much I missed running.
Great job, Sarah! We're all very proud of you! Thank you RunningChannel for being realistic and continually showing videos recently that highlight not just wins, but struggles, challenges, successes and near misses. That's what running is all about, pushing yourself to new heights, finding your limits. If it was easy, everyone would do it. We run because we can, because we want to, because we need to know our limits. Your team is a very diverse and yet cohesive unit that clearly demonstrates a real family environment, who all encourage and push each other. What an honour it would be to have the likes of Andy and the gang in our corner, driving our own performance! Keep it up and most of all, thank you!
Sara, you actually made me cry with this one. Thanks for the content, thanks for the motivation. Used to be a (non-competitive) triathlete on the Olympic distance. Then 4y ago had a serious setback. Now restarting from scratch since may 2022, almost at the 60min continuous running mark. Next up, realy focusing on re-building pace. 6min/K feels like a dream, but I know it once was a reality and slowly but steadily I feel myself getting stronger, faster and getting there
Well done on your new PB Sarah. 👏 I am in the middle of training for my first half marathon in November and it has been tough. To all of the running channel community in training keep your head up you have got this 🏃♀️🏃
Never mind winning a prize, I so wish I could have gatecrashed this event! Sarah really is inspirational. A ray of sunshine in a world that can be very depressing. Thank you Sarah just for being you 🤗
Been watching this and been cheering along. Using these as motivation for my race tomorrow. Well done! Just imagine where you'll be this time next year!!
Aaah I especially loved this one, just finished my first 5 k in 5 years after an operation at an incredibly slow plod and feeling a tad battered but chuffed with my persistence, it's mostly thanks to you and the team here on the running chanel and in particular the I did exactly what my watch told me for 30 days, that's what I'm doing currently. I was really egging you on and to be fair it was a bit emotional, amazing effort and phenomenal PB, well done you and big up all the team supporting you along with the crowd, inspired! 😜
Great job Sarah! Going for an half marathon tomorrow and your effort makes me want to adjust my A goal to something more ambitious. Had a migraine yesterday so I need my B and C goals. But you left me with a lot more confidence going into the race tomorrow.
Well done Sarah, you’ve shaved so much time off your previous PBs! I used to run a lot but for the past 10 years it’s been just bits and pieces of running, and none at all at times, but have started properly again about 6 months ago and you and the Running Channel have inspired me to go for PBs at the age of 41!
Well done Sarah great effort, trying to get to 22min 5k and sub 48 min 10k, great to see all your fellow runners encouraging you that is a win on its own.
Incredible achievement - a real inspiration for me as I'm attempting the same thing at the end of March. My current 10K time is 49 mins (and I'm not as lively as Sarah!) so I'm not expecting to break it, but this series of videos has been a great motivator and shows me what can be done with good training. Thank you!
So inspiring, I am trying to qualify for the senior Olympics in the 10k, would like to do less than 50min. Doing the workouts so far not getting faster. Hope it comes on race day.
It was such a special evening. Thank you fir inviting us to share in your event Sarah, and thank you to the whole TRC family for showing such incredible support ❤️
That was gutsy! Makes me happy see ppl try something they once thought wouldve been impossible, getting so near the target and rejoy for the effort put in.
Well done Sarah, nearly 3 minutes faster than your PB. You can be proud of that! I've been struggling a lot for motivation lately, but you have certainly helped with that, thankyou!
It was such a great effort Sarah! Being there in person, I can tell you the heat and humidity certainly made it a real challenge and you came so, so, so close! I have no doubt you'll smash sub45 in the near future 💪🏾
My goal is a sub 1:45 half marathon next year. I’ve cut my mileage down real low right now and have been focusing on a weight training plan and in a couple of months I’ll start my running programs back up from the bottom.
I'm coming from a partial hip replacement surgery and I really miss running, Thanks Sarah for inspiring me coming from basically zero in running as I get through the hoops of running again in my life..
Congratulations Sarah! You should be immensely proud! Although it's disappointing that you didn't go sub-45, what you'll take away from this is that on a different day with different conditions, that goal is absolutely achievable! Bring that confidence with you going forward!
Are you training for a personal best? What time do you think Sarah can run? Let us know in the comments!
Sarah will run a sub 45 - her disappointment at 12 secs and determination will drive her on. I am looking to break 35 mins(35.45 pb) 10k, 1.18 (1.18.45 PB) half marathon before 40 next year.

*Netherlands is so flat! I miss the trails in South Africa 😀
She would complete it in 43.xx mins
44:55.35
definitely she will run sub 35 minutes, she is seems to be fully determined and dedicated for continues improvement
Sarah has inspired me a lot as an average runner. Running my first 5k tomorrow and my goals are to finish the race in 30 min or 45 min or just finish it without walking. Thank you Running Channel for all your videos!

Half a second per lap! It's so happening very soon. Well done Sarah and thanks to all at TRC for a fabulous evening.
Inspirational Sarah 🎉
Knocking nearly 3 minutes off your previous PB is insane ❤
Well done 👏 ❤

I sense friend envy/jealousy - show em what for Nick 👌
10K on the track is both mentally & physically tough, that was a fantastic effort Sarah & it's only a matter of time for that sub 45!!

12 seconds is a rounding error over 10k. A few degrees cooler and she not only hits her target she smashes it. Amazing job!
I always thought you were either a good runner or you aren't. Watching Sarah's journey along the videos has been so inspiring, currently working on getting my own 10k under an hour, and staying consistent with my runs! 🥰

That's basically sub 45 minutes. Just 2 seconds faster per mile pace and then she's got it!
Well done, Sarah! 🙌 Great PB!
Well done! This really makes me want to do 10k training again - that was an astonishing improvement in just 12 weeks!

Congratulations on the huge PB Sarah. I'm currently training for a sub-2:30 half-marathon. Long term is getting ParkRuns regularly under 30mins
I started my training for a sub 3:30 marathon at the end of May next year just now, so seeing Sarah smash her PB in not-so-optimal temperatures is inspiring!
What a fantastic run by Sarah! I have signed up for my first 10k and expect to do it in double that time 😂 but I'll be happy to finish my first one.
I couldn't believe how emotional I got watching this- such an inspiring effort, well done Sarah 👏👏👏
(im a obese runner by the way)
Massive congratulations on a new PB Sarah. Sub 45 is just around the corner, am sure of it!! Well done, RESPECT! ❤
Well done Sarah! new PB is awesome! I ran my first marathon yesterday and can't wait to beat my time and aim for under 4hrs!
So great to see you in person! Well done Sarah. :D I saw on Strava you broke 45 a couple weeks later!!!
Great effort Sarah. With more ideal conditions I'm sure you'll smash 45 mins.
I'm seriously so inspired by how far Sarah has come, and I know she's going to break 45 some day soon! Well done👏👏
Fantastic effort Sarah. Anyone who steps up to the plate - regardless of outcome - is already a winner.
Love your effort, really inspiring stuff. Especially, as I’m watching about to head to the Robin Hood Half. Just eating my porridge now 😅.
Love watching this series as I have recently just finishing working towards a sub 50 min 10K myself.
Without thr running channel and Sarah, I wouldn't be smashing my 10ks and running after 10 years unfit! Thank you!
Great effort. Watching Sarah run reminds me how fun running can be. I am hoping for a sun 45 min 10km next year too.😁
Firstly well done!!
Congrats on your PB Sarah!🎉
You guys are amazing! Thank you for spreading the love and encouragement with all your contents! Right now I’m training for my first half marathon.
Go Sarah! I’m currently training for a half marathon and am hoping to set a new PB!
6min/K feels like a dream, but I know it once was a reality and slowly but steadily I feel myself getting stronger, faster and getting there
Well done Sarah, so inspiring for others while striving for a personal goal 🎊 🎉!!!
Great job, Sarah. We're proud of you 👏👏👏
Why i am crying when everybody shout to sarah ❤️,i feel the energy,i wish i was there .
Keep spread good thing ,thank you running channel ❤️
I would be over the moon with a 45:12 time! Sarah that was very inspiring and there's no doubt you gave it all you had girl, well done!
You were bloody fantastic, Sarah!
It was a pleasure to come down and watch. You should be very proud of yourself.
Well done Sarah great effort, trying to get to 22min 5k and sub 48 min 10k, great to see all your fellow runners encouraging you that is a win on its own.
Sarah!!! Well done on your new PB. You’ll shave off those dozen seconds no problem. Proud of you and have loved watching the journey. Very inspiring 😊
Incredible achievement - a real inspiration for me as I'm attempting the same thing at the end of March. My current 10K time is 49 mins (and I'm not as lively as Sarah!) so I'm not expecting to break it, but this series of videos has been a great motivator and shows me what can be done with good training. Thank you!
Way to go Sarah!! Massive PB with friends and family for support. The best.
I like this so much! I’m running my 1st marathon in 6 weeks. All these videos give me inspiration, thank you!
