Ngl it’s actually kinda crazy how my guy ran the second half of the race without a shoe and somehow got second place. He definitely would’ve won if it wasn’t for that.
Love when you cover races like this. I have an alumni that ran the NAIA and managed to make all American so i would love to see a video covering the NAIA.
10km cross country in 28 minutes!!! For sure he can do 27 and maybe low 27minutes too, on the track or roads! Remember 27:40 used to be the world record. So, standards have improved astoundingly since 1980's.
Just wish the women could run a 10K instead of a 6K. I was at the meet though, was really awesome. It was 35 degrees but it didn't feel that cold because there wasn't any wind. 35 degrees is also not that bad for someone like myself who's lived in Wisconsin his entire life.
Just wait until next year in Columbia, MO. If they get dry conditions the winner will be in the low 27"s on the men's side. For sure under 19 on the women's side. Even though the course is 2 and 3k loops (the men will run the starting straight 4 times) this course SUCKS for spectators
"Maybe not just for collegiate athletes but for anyone in the United States"? Not sure what you're saying this for. The NCAA Nationals are just that, NCAA athletes. So what exactly did that mean?
@@davidfriedfeld Because it goes back to a time when the governing bodies of athletics thought they had to protect women in case their wombs fell out. OK, I'm paraphrasing, but that was basically the reason. When I started running XC in the early 2000s a lady called Paula Fudge used to run for one of the other teams. Paula set the first recognised women's 5000m world record back in 1981, because prior to that women were not allowed to run that distance competitively. The world has moved on, women can now run whatever distances they want, and excel especially at ultra distances, but XC still seems to be stuck in the old days.
Kenyans are barefooted most of their lives, including XC races in Kenya. Most, only wear shoes because of contracts and being pushed to do so my their coaches. Watch Kenyan XC races, most are barefooted.
I just got back from the race. Conditions were perfect..Wind was almost nonexistent. Race felt really fast.
Shout out to Nathan Green (Washington) who finished in 54th place. He had the strongest kick of the day, closing the last 1km in 2:40. Unbelievable.
We get TRP before the actual race is posted. 😪
Man’s built different
Where we can watch that?
It was free live on RUclips if you searched for it
2nd place for the men running half the race with 1 shoe after losing the left one is probably one the craziest things I have ever seen.
Ever hear of Zola Budd? World XC Champ bearfoot.
Yeah. But to lose a shoe unexpectedly is way different that just normally planned running barefoot. The mental adjustment is non comparable
Absolutely incredible performance to loose your shoe at 5km and still get 2nd.Habton Samuel 👏👏
Went back and saw that too! Already gone at 5k split
Zola Budd. World XC champ bearfoot.
His shoe was off by 5k
That's crazy
I’m pretty sure it was before that
Insane! What a beautiful view at the start of the race.

There's no way to answer that question.

great recap as always! thx for linking the full results too, youre doing great work!
Has to be said; perhaps one of the best surfaces for cross country running of all time?
Better than my lawn
You should cover the NXRs and NXN
BYU!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
MY GLORIOUS KING YASEEN ABDALLAH
Very interesting and informative video! Thank you for your attention to detail! 💖😘
Amazing race once again. That opening 1st K!!!
what happened to Stanford?
Wow!
Season opening Cross Country Skiing in Norway and the nationals running in the US the same day.
Where’s my popcorn? ❤
Was annoying running 5k for cross in high school, then 10k being the standard in college.
Killer races!!

A running channel on pace for 1 million subs. Surreal.
3rd is the earliest ive gotten on this channel to comment
how did he even lose his shoe lol
got spiked and then kicked off his shoe
The trip up definitely affected a few races … feel bad for those athletes
Let’s go Iowa state!
Harvard boy (Graham) took it to em again...too smart and too strong for em.
The announcers kept saying “slow opening” and the first 1km was 27:15 lol I get what they were saying but still

Why do you wish that?
Epic!!!!!
Watching my boy Graham Blanks win again was so hype
Arkansas blew themselves up.
But not yaseen 😍
Samuel getting 2nd with one shoe is insane
BYU won both💪💪
bro this was like 10 minutes from my house but I slept in too late
also, this course has got to be cursed, every single year i raced this in highschool xc one of our top varsity guys lost a shoe!
Bro you were sleeping at 11:00 when you could be watching NATIONALS as easily as taking a walk through the neighborhood?💀

How is 35 a freezing cold day? Ok I'm a jerk.
Honey, 35 degrees is not a "freezing cold" day in Wisconsin, 😅🤣😂😉
It is if you’re not from Wisconsin like the majority of the cross country runners participating in that meet.
Cold for running. Not cold for the area. You’re in the comments of a running channel and tried to be a smartass 😂
"Maybe not just for collegiate athletes but for anyone in the United States"?

Love watching this race every year, but common more exciting than the last couple years 🤔. Be honest that’s not true
Very interesting and relevant topic! Looking forward to your next video! 🔥😛
Race distances should be the same for men and women.
Why ?

Habtom is Eritrean but I get your point
I hate cross country
Hahahaha...why?
@@colmsheahan6991 sry my lil bro uses this account fr
Run a 10K on a track (25 laps) then let us know how boring a 10K cross country race is. 🤔😕
Cross country hates you
africans go home devastated
