    This might be a silly question, but when using a clarifying shampoo....do I use the shampoo along the entire length also or just at the scalp? Other channels said just the scalp, but how exactly would that remove any buildup from the rest? My hair is now tailbone length when it's curly and past my tush when it's wet/straight. There's no way a clarifying shampoo will effectively remove anything further than a couple inches past my scalp unless I apply it everywhere....right?

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  2 года назад +1

      Yes, you are correct. The only way to get the lengths clean is to shampoo or clarify them. You don’t necessarily need to put shampoo directly on the lengths though you can apply it to the scalp and work up a good lather. Then work the lather down your hair and squeezing and squishing it in to your hair. You don’t want to do any aggressive rubbing but you do need to work it in a little bit. With your length, if the there’s not enough lather to make it the whole way down, you can add more shampoo to your mid lengths and work it in from there down. I know that the general consensus is to use it only at your scalp and as you rinse your hair it’ll run down and clean the rest of it. That’s kinda like using soap on your upper body and expecting the rinse to clean your lower body. Probably not gonna be too effective. Lol. Anyway, you are correct, you need shampoo or at least the lather to cover all of your hair. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching!

    Just curious, have you ever tried the Aquage Freezing Foam? Cause it could possibly be a substitute for superglue LOL. 😂

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  2 года назад +1

      A salon I worked at carried Aquage products, so I’ve used pretty much all of them on either clients, myself, or both. I used to use the the freezing foam mostly on short hair or sparingly on super fine hair that wouldn’t hold anything at all. I’ve never used it on myself. I agree, it could possibly be a substitute for super glue. Lol. Thank you for watching!

    Ooh I just tried that ouidad protein foamy thing, I really liked it! I used a light conditioner after (or maybe before, I don't recall) and loved how my hair felt. If I remember correctly it was loaded with amino acids which my hair responds really well to. I also tried their ultra hydrating splash mask leave in (I think that's the name) and HATED it. It looks & feels like water & doesn't seem to anything for my hair, it's like applying water. I've tried going total ham with it, really drenching my hair with it, still nothing. I also tried just saturating my ends with it, nothing. It has nice looking ingredients, but it's like all water or something. I've actually been wondering if I got a bad one because it doesn't even make sense.
    I also like that curlsmith 3 in 1. I usually use it as a leave in too. Sometimes I'll use it as a regular & then just not rinse it all out.

      I’m definitely loving the protein foam. I haven’t tried the hydrating splash mask but that definitely seems strange that it does nothing.

    Question for ya, Michelle. Here lately my scalp has been really itchy no matter what I use and I wash daily. What could be causing this?

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  2 года назад

      It’s hard to say without seeing your scalp, but a couple things come to mind. One is that your scalp is dry. It might need a shampoo break or scalp oil. Another might be allergies. And not necessarily to products. For example I am allergic to quite a few things and have seasonal allergies. This time of year, I’m just itchy. Pollen can get in our hair and on our scalps. Especially when it’s windy. I would suggest try treating it like it’s dry and use oil or skip a shampoo or two and see if that helps. Also Malibu C makes a scalp therapy. I find it helps with many kinds of scalp issues. You only use it as needed. It comes in packets or powder that you mix with water and apply before shampooing. Here is a link amzn.to/37dNZUb Or if you have seasonal allergies and the itchiness coincides with a high pollen count it might be that. If neither of these ring true or you have flaky or scaly skin at your scalp, you might want to go to a dr to see what’s going on. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching!

      Another thing I'm struggling with, extremely matted hair after washing. Help! 😢

    • @CurlyChelle547
      @CurlyChelle547  2 года назад

      @@BlackLabMama so between the itchy scalp and matting, that sounds like a potential water issue. Even if you don’t have hard water there are minerals in the softened water that can build up. Or if you have city water, they tend to chlorinate it. The chlorine levels can fluctuate or even if they don’t, the small amount that’s in there can build up after awhile and can cause itching and matting. Perhaps get a chelating shampoo and try that? I could definitely be wrong since I don’t know your exact situation but matting when washing really sounds like chlorine or mineral buildup. There’s no amount of conditioner that can get through that. It needs to be removed.
