    I used to listen to them all the time. I need to start again. Nice to actually see them perform as well.

    Man' Transfer have got to be one of the most under-rated groups ever. God only knows why! l've had a vinyl LP for more than 20 years now and l treat it like gold!

    I knew Alan when he was little. Baby sat for him and his brother Jerry. His sister Rona was my maid of honor for my first marriage

    The Pointer Sisters had success first in the '70s with this retro-vocal thing, and Manhattan Transfer came along a few years later with a similar sort of old-fashioned sound. They both were really good.

    They are so groovy and such cool cats. You think . . Thanks for posting this on You-Tube. They have been around for quite a while. They were here many years ago in D.C. Their voices and style are to die for. You think. . .

    The Manhattan Transfer is to quartets, what the Andrews Sisters were to trios. The "tightness" of the harmony of the Andrews Sisters was almost unnatural, & that was the same "tightness" that the Manhattan transfer has.

    @46619TAB Thanks for that. Sounds good to me..A man after my own heart. lncidentally, you list Fleetwood Mac,.As it happens,l have an original 45 of Albatross. lf that wasn't written with a view to crashing out with a few cans l don't know what is...Stay good !

    Perhaps the best gay group of all time ... and, yes, that DOES include The Village People.

  • @mzmiller52
    @mzmiller52 12 лет назад

    doesn't anyone have video of them when they first started? the bottom line? carnegie hall?
    they were perfect camp. too bad they abandoned it for jazz. bill hennessey knew what he was doing. this has nothing on the recording.

  • @crankbv1
    @crankbv1 13 лет назад

    @46619TAB Many thanks for your reply; but hell no,you aren't. At my age vinyl is about all l have left to hang on to and to start building a CD collection now would be financially prohibitive,even if l could still find the stuff l like,examples being...Man'Transfer, Leon Russell, Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Billie Holiday, King Oliver, Mills Brothers, but to mention a few. Plus the sound quality of good vinyl exceeds that of CDs. No thanks,,l'll stay with it, as l suspect will you!

    @Keith Wilson Where you got that from? Are they all gay? I mean that's ok but I'm curious. I can't find any evidences for them to be gay. Ok there is one exception.. Janis is so hot and somehow I hope she's not gay :D

    • @Wolfsky9
      @Wolfsky9 8 лет назад

      +Luke Dylan Sir, NONE ARE GAY. All are married, including Cheryl. Why in the world would anyone think that? --" Smile Again" was written by Alan, for his gorgeous bride-to-be. ----Wolfsky9

    • @LukeDallert
      @LukeDallert 8 лет назад

      +Wolfsky9 I think someone called "Keith Wilson" just wrote in a comment below that they're gay when I got that right. I did not think about that before I read that. But the bride-to-be isn't a well-known person or?

    • @Wolfsky9
      @Wolfsky9 8 лет назад +2

      +Luke Dylan All members of MT have children, & are happily married. They keep ---kept ----their private lives private. THAT does NOT mean they are gay! And if they were, so what???? Who cares ??? -----But in fact, having seen MT with spouses & children, I will attest--none are --were---gay. Janis is a nice Jewish girl from NYC / Cheryl is from Washington State / Alan is a nice New Jersey Jewish boy / Tim was ---I'm not sure from where, but happily married the longest of the group before he passed. ----Wolfsky9

      Come down. I just asked because I never heard of it before.. I was just curious if it's true. Both of it is ok. When I heard I just asked if it's true! I didn't know that I insult people by just asking about homosexuality... some people interpret too much. If gay or not I love "Manhattan Transfer", I hope you get that right now.

    The Andrews Sisters sing it much better

    • @Eric-kw2bv
      @Eric-kw2bv 5 лет назад

      Everybody has differing choices, & you are most certainly entitled to yours, however, allowing for technical advances, The M/T would be one of the best harmony groups of all time, also, 4 part harmony is much harder to pull off than 3 part.

  • @Nabokov50
    @Nabokov50 16 лет назад

    I didn't know they were a gay group. Not that it matters.

    • @Eric-kw2bv
      @Eric-kw2bv 5 лет назад

      If it doesn't matter...Why the hell do you ask.

    • @Boospoochie
      @Boospoochie 2 года назад

      What makes you think they're a gay group--they not--Alan Paul is married to a woman and so was Tim Hauser prior to dying. Not sure about the women though... and if it doesn't matter, then why are you bringing it up?
