Just saw them in San Jose last Sunday. Thirty
years later, they are as great as ever!! Janis
can still sing her behind off on this song. They
can sing in any style, with beautiful harmony.
(with Laurel then, and Cheryl now)

I have been a Blues/Jazz. Manhatten Transfer has been a favorite since they began in 1969. They are high energy, very entertaining and you will leave their performance with a wide grinn on your face. Top-o-the-line!!!!

It was the keenest swing songs that I loved so dearly in the past when I heard that this vocal jazz group also released "Boy From New York City". "Operator" was the joy of myself loving the Manhattan Transfer! Not just the other famous number by them......!!!!

Back in the 70s I worked for the agency that represented them and when their "The Manhattan Transfer" album came out they were booked at The Roxy and all of us went to see the shows and they were freakin' amazing. They were totally unique and one of a kind and I was a fan for life. Janis rocks on "Operator".

The first time I saw them I was 15 or 16 and they set the whole audience on fire. Up to today I have never forgotten that first experience and how it made me want to sing in an acapella quartet.

Laurel Masse v roku 2014 dovrši 63 rokov. V poradi tretia pieseň z albumu z roku 1975 a ich prvý hit v USA. V septembri 1975 obsadil 22.m. a päť rokov bol ich jediným úspechom v USA. V UK boli populárnejší. V rokoch 1976 až 1980 mali v rebríčku 8 skladieb vrátane Chanson D Amour hitu č. 1.

I wonder if a lot of church musicians around 1975 heard that song and wanted to use that as a gospel jazz number, because of that signature line, "Give me Jesus on the line!!!"

Manhattan Transfer didn't disband. They have a new bass singer in Trist Curless. He substituted for Tim during his illness and after his death, Trist became a permanent member of the vocal group. They're scheduled to perform around the world this year and the first part of 2017.

Great song, great arrangement, but what are the stupid dancers doing there? Send them home. Excess baggage. Those know it all idiot producers just can't leave well enough alone can they? It always ceases to amaze me that when they do a country show, they have to have hay bales and Broadway dancers with guys in checkered shirts and girls in big fluffy skirts prancing around. Do they honestly think they are doing something worth watching? Janice Segal is something else. Viva Manhattan Transfer
