I swear Janice Siegel never sounds the same. On this she sounds like a singer from the 30's, some times like a 40's big band torch singer, sometimes like 50's singer. Whatever she could do it. Now in her 70's looking absolutely nothing like she did here ( I swear you'd never recognize her), she still continues to change on every song. She and Alan Paul (her partner her) have the best voices in Jazz. Manhattan Transfer whether this original group with Janice, Alan, the late great Tim Hauser and and Laurel Masse', or Tim, Janice, Alan, and Cheryl Bentyne, or Janice, Alan, Cheryl, and Trist Curless they are always great, and so Amazing. They have been around 51 years, and still no one can touch or ever has them. They are just incredible.
One of my favorite Tommy Dorsey 78's. Perfect for the Pied Pipers and MT. They did a very honorable cover. This is what music should be - a catchy tune that makes you smile.
Though we did a lot of live singing on the 1975 TMT Show on CBS, this clip is from a series performances we recorded for the Two Ronnies show in the UK, and I believe there is some lyp-synch gong on. Have always Loved Manhattan Transfer and this song in particular ! Beautiful cool rendition of a song Frank Sinatra and Jo Stanford recorded with Mr Dorsey many many years ago.

Tremendous performance. I love the opening joke in which they mimic the way 40s big band vocalists were, sitting vacantly on uncomfortable-looking chairs at the end of the band until they are called into action. Janis in particular captures perfectly the style of the 40s - that Miss Personality bounce, all energy and flashing eyes, selling a song with great gusto. Check out singers like Marion Hutton to see the original model - only she was not as good as Janis.

just loved the two ronnies little way of making an effort into songs with there props costumes ect a delightful era of light entertainment

Yeah..They're very good at re capturing the past. Musically.... visually and with a dash of panache. I absolutely love them!.......Pure magic!
