Tim in any of his "Eldie" iterations is spectacular, YES! He loved doing Eldorado Caddy incarnations and we loved watching him. Tim you live on in our memories of great music and in our funny bones.
I did never see the Manhattan Transfer perform, my mom used to love their song "Operator," and their television show. I began buying their records with "Extensions." I did see Janis Siegel perform as a quartet with Jon Hendricks, Bobby McFerrin and Dianne Reeves (SF Opera House), Tim Hauser joined at the end making it quintet... a wonderful live performance.
1986 was the year these guys won two Grammy awards, both linked to the album "Vocalese", where this piece was taken from. I cannot remember, though, that the Fashion Award that year had been given to Tim for his 1m-$-outfit.
LOVE----------LOVE ! ELDORADO CADDY ! WHEN I GROW UP I WANNA BE ELDORADO CADDY . ----------AND SO, RIP, BROTHER ---------WE MISS YA SO VERY MUCH. ----------------MJL, 76 y/o
The original narrative on the recording by Art Farmer and Benny Golson does not have Joe dressed like that, mix matched over the top gawdy. And what's with that sneaky creepy walk like the stereotypical cartoons that depicted black men as crows. My uncle gave me my first jazz recording on a 45 back in the 1950s. It was Killer Joe and this is not the image that came into my mind. As good as MT is they totally missed the mark here. Some will say that this is modern black face.

I saw them do That's Killer Joe at the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia on this tour. FABULOUS!!
Best concert that I ever saw was given by The Manhattan Transfer. 💋
Attended a seminar by Janis in about 2005 or so in Cleveland. WONDERFUL presentation. Chops galore, and oh, so approachable.
Vocalese is the first CD I bought.
This performance always puts a smile on my face!! 😆 💘 👗 🎶 😍
I just love the Manhattan Transfer. I grew up listening to them and there sound remains outstanding!!!!
I am so glad these videos exist. Wonderful!

Utterly magnificent!
He should have asked somebody before he decided to characterize Killer Joe
Clapping is an oyng
Janis Siegel has more different looks than Gary Oldman. Best singer ever.
So killer. Pun intended.

Huh. He’s clearly white. Why would you assume it’s a caricature of a black man? Seems rather racist of you.
mi sa ke portare sta roba in un pub non se puo'...e'troppo oltre..
I'm sorry, but this characterization of Killer Joe misses the mark. Actually offensive for so many of us. However, MT are stellar singers.
On the positive side, you found your thing to get self righteously “offended” by for the day. Congratulations.
