The reason I didn’t rated her as 20/20 is bcuz of her unnecessary neck tension, very loud belts, throathiness, pushing and also pushed larynx. It’s not always that she had those. But they are some or even alot of cases that could happen.

I don't know why you kept adding "pushy." She's categorised as a gospel singer, that's what she does ON PURPOSE. Her belts (mid/late 80s and early 90s) were always consistent, from C5-G5. "I'm Every Woman" is a clear example of that! But other than that, great video!
For me her biggest problem is her jaw tension on vibrato and her being so loud at belts causing alot of tension sucha s very throaty. But those only happen after 1992. Before that shes a damn belter. Best belter in my opinion tbh.

Of course I doubt Whitney knew this, but it definitely was not a bad thing for her. It was not constrictive. There are many singers whose jaw movement constricts them though.

Stans don't want to admit it but: "Gospel jaw or 'jawbrato' as some have dubbed it "is characterized by a visible trembling of the jaw, often in tandem with vibrato. Hey!!! You stated awhile ago that there's rare KPOP singers that actually has "resonance", so I'm curious who those people are. Also, would it just be better to say it as open or ringing sound rather than Resonant??
For me her major technical issue was her vowels. Very distorted. I wish someone would address that about Whjitney. Surprisingly her lower register was quite decent. I thought she had nothing below C4. The belting register was balçanced, well coordinated and free(considering her 'chesty' style) and the head voice was soaring and full.

Note: this analysis only refers to Whitney in her prime. I will not be classifying her voice after her decline. Mezzo-Soprano 9 times out of 10 Whitney is mistaken for a mezzo. Often people try to describe the weight of a voice by using soprano (for light voices) and mezzo-soprano (for heavy voices). They forget that’s why we have the sub classifications of lyric, spinto, dramatic, etc. With soprano and mezzo-soprano we are mainly looking at tessitura. Whitney is known for those powerful belts, not her low notes. Her songs and voice clearly sit in the soprano range (How Will I Know, Saving All My Love, You Give Good Love). She had natural ease in her belts and she sang in the upper 5th octave very often. She never lived in her low notes nor had natural comfort there. Her tessitura is the give away that she is a soprano. Dramatic I can see how people believe that Whitney is a dramatic. She had an immensely powerful voice, but this is not all it takes to be a dramatic. Whitney’s voice was most certainly dark, metallic and powerful, but it was also warm. A dramatic voice will not be warm at all, in fact it will be icy cold. Whitney’s warm timbre means she cannot be a dramatic. Her great resonance (thanks to that amazing technique) tends to confuse some. Spinto Whitney’s voice was both warm (like a lyric), as well as dark and metallic (like a dramatic). Sitting in-between the two, Whitney was a spinto. Whitney used this to her advantage, knowing when to hold back with a soft sound, but also when to unleash her incredible power. Her voice was heavy and her sound was big, but not as large as a dramatic. Vocal View: Whitney has the best tone I have ever heard. That luscious, warm and velvety timbre gets me every time. I will never forget her stunning voice that she shared with the world, and I think we all miss her.

Sounds very uncomfortable for her. And this happened to her in many concerts. Her lows improved after her first miscarriage.

Whitney Houston is easily one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Her tone was exceptional, she possessed immense power and had such stunning technique. Whitney’s iconic power and dark voice can lead to some confusion.
Note: this analysis only refers to Whitney in her prime. I will not be classifying her voice after her decline.
Mezzo-Soprano
9 times out of 10 Whitney is mistaken for a mezzo. Often people try to describe the weight of a voice by using soprano (for light voices) and mezzo-soprano (for heavy voices). They forget that’s why we have the sub classifications of lyric, spinto, dramatic, etc. With soprano and mezzo-soprano we are mainly looking at tessitura. Whitney is known for those powerful belts, not her low notes. Her songs and voice clearly sit in the soprano range (How Will I Know, Saving All My Love, You Give Good Love). She had natural ease in her belts and she sang in the upper 5th octave very often. She never lived in her low notes nor had natural comfort there. Her tessitura is the give away that she is a soprano.
Dramatic
I can see how people believe that Whitney is a dramatic. She had an immensely powerful voice, but this is not all it takes to be a dramatic. Whitney’s voice was most certainly dark, metallic and powerful, but it was also warm. A dramatic voice will not be warm at all, in fact it will be icy cold. Whitney’s warm timbre means she cannot be a dramatic. Her great resonance (thanks to that amazing technique) tends to confuse some.
Spinto
Whitney’s voice was both warm (like a lyric), as well as dark and metallic (like a dramatic). Sitting in-between the two, Whitney was a spinto. Whitney used this to her advantage, knowing when to hold back with a soft sound, but also when to unleash her incredible power. Her voice was heavy and her sound was big, but not as large as a dramatic.
Vocal View: Whitney has the best tone I have ever heard. That luscious, warm and velvety timbre gets me every time. I will never forget her stunning voice that she shared with the world, and I think we all miss her.
When Christina and Britney invited Whitney out and she sang I will always love you that shit sounded horrible lol

I’m sorry but before 1992 Whitney would rarely if ever hit solid low below G lmao. Check out the That’s What Friends Are For she did with the Winans. She dodges even the upper third octave. Sounds very uncomfortable for her. And this happened to her in many concerts. Her lows improved after her first miscarriage.
