Funny thing, I watched, cooked and ate some Japanese dishes, but for the first time I see burdock. Here in Europe it's considered to be a weed, mostly. Burdock oil is good for hair. Parts of plants are known as folk medicine and some wild herb books do mention you can eat the root or prepare young stalks like asparagus, but I never actually saw it here to be eaten and as I dug up a root and cooked it, well, I guess it was old, because it was woody and not that nice. 😅 And even young stalks were pretty stringy and tasted very grassy. Seeing it being used so casually makes me kinda happy. Maybe I'll give it a second try, look for young roots and cook them or will make the salad. 👀
Maybe getting Japanese burdock in other country is very difficult... I hope you can find good one next time!😊

Can you please make a video about side dishes that also could count as a meal when paired with rice alone ? Like the third and fourth side dish in this video, they could easily be the main source of protein in a meal yet are so simple and you could make two of them and add them in a bento for variety
Thank you for your comment! Okay! I will try that soon:)

Great video, I just found your channel and love it so far!
I love Japanese food, but it seems like it takes so long to make everything! Maybe you could do some videos of '30 minute Japanese meals' or '15 minute Japanese breakfasts' etc to show us how it can be done in a short time? 😊
Thank you!
Yea, that's good idea! I wanna make that kind of video. Thank you for your advise:)
By the way, especially in the side dish video here, most of the recipes take less than 15 minutes or 30 minutes I think! (Tofu salad one needs time to drain water though...)
So, please try to make them some time😊
I cannot comprehend the idea that each of this side dish is said to " take so long to make"?🙄🙄*sigh*... These are very easy to make like almost all are stir fried.
@@iamsherlocked875 my mom acts like this too hahah but she’s never gonna get enough veggies if she doesn’t want to take time to prep them
This is perfect for me because I don’t have much time to make food after work and before my night school. My husband really tries to help and these are easy so he can make this ^-^

hello!!! domo agitato soooo much for this fun, kawaii, informative video! mahalo for sharing, love and light from the 50th state!💜💜💜
Hi! Thank you so much for your warm comment 💛💛
I've lived in Hawaii about 10 years ago, and I miss there so much.
Simple and fully well done side dishes.
I tend to not like bacon, eggplant this time looks like cooked sweet potato.
Knew first time spinach and corn together cause good blend. The reason I like yellow corn steamed, some friends called me eating way of grandma.
I love corn too!
Please give them a try when you have a time!
I like pork miso spinach and stir fried egg and tomato all yummy 😋
Thank you so much!😍
i love konjac but never knew what it was, thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the konjac recipe😊 Maybe I can upload more konjac recipes in the future video!
@@JapaneseCookingChannel isnt konjac made of seaweed ? Correct me if im wrong
Thank you for your comment!
Konjac is made from konjac yam. You grate it and harden it with some coagulant (e.g. sodium carbonate).
is there two yolks in one egg? wow lucky! nice vids & tutorials by the way😍
Thank you so much!! 😍

Sure! You can make these at night:D Enjoy various pickles💕
Great and Amazing! Thank you for sharing,, I will try to do some of these recipes cause I always like to eat Japanese food. Best wishes from STOCKHOLM - SWEDEN
Thank you so much! It would be wonderful if you could try some of the recipes😊🙏
@@JapaneseCookingChannel I have tasted Tofu Sallad - really good with Japanese rice cooking by myself of today. Next month I will visit my dauther´s family, all of them eat Vegan Food. So I will cook some of these recipes for them. My grandson likes Tofu and soy sauce. He sometimes can eat only cooked rice and Kikoman soysauce. He is 2 years and 7 months. I called him: Soy sauce boy :-)
Wow! I am so glad you tried the recipe😆 Thank you!
Soy sauce boy... that sounds super cute💖 Maybe I need more tofu recipes with soy sauce to upload so you can make it for him.
Hope your family also like the taste. Please take care, and have a wonderful time with your family!
@@JapaneseCookingChannel Thank you so much khá :-) Surely we like to eat Tofu and Soy Sauce cause of my genetic of Asian (Thai + Chinese) Take care and have a good time :-) Best wishes from STOCKHOLM - SWEDEN
Thank you!!😍
Very good work! (I really miss the Japanese Hourensou...there is only baby spinach in USA...)
Thank you so much for watching it! Oh! You like Hourensou 😊
Yea, I've never seen like that in the US. I miss baby spinach in the US... 😁
Here in Texas, our state wide grocery chain (HEB) has always sold fresh spinach bunches (currently $1.64 a bunch) along with pound bags of frozen whole leaf (currently $1.75). I'm Japanese-American and fondly remember my mom blanching fresh spinach from HEB, squeezing out the water and pouring soy sauce over it along with a pinch of red pepper flakes. It makes a quick and tasty side dish that I still make.
Love from India!!all dish you made are amazing just wanna know the pan name in which you are making that dish!!!
Thank you for watching my channel! I am so glad you liked my recipe:D
The pan I use is often said "Tamagoyaki pan". This is not exactly the same one, but I found similar one.↓

Thank you for this great video 🥰. Do you have a substitute for Sake? I just don’t want to cook with alcohol 🙈
Thank you for always watching my video💖
Sake can be used to add sweetness and richness to dishes, but if you don't want to use alcohol, please just skip it. I think the taste will be fine even without sake. Or I would say adding just a pinch of sugar will be good substitute if it's fine for you!
@@JapaneseCookingChannel thank you very much 🥰
You are welcome😊
@@JapaneseCookingChannel Do you use cooking sake or regular sake?
The alcohol gets boiled off, you wont get drunk
Can you show more Japanese and okinawan dishes with pork and chicken or any vegetarian food...Nice healthy Japanese food...thanks
Thanks! Okay! I will try to make the one you mentioned.
Can you also add if possible to keep in fridge, how many days, and how to reheat (or no need to)?
Thank you for your comment!
You can keep all of them in fridge, and probably they should be eaten within 2-3 days.
The burdock salad, cabbage salad, tofu salad, and egg&tomato one shouldn't be reheated. But you can do for others!
Hope you try the recipes😊
Great video, but what is Konjac, and how do I find it? Searches on the web so snacks, treats, noodles and beauty creams - What is it's packaging like in Japan?
Thanks for watching my video!
Please check these pages to see konjac. It is made by mashing konnyaku potatoes and hardening them.

how long does the side dish last in fridge? usually how many side dish do you eat at once, do you just eat the side dish with rice, or usually also with a main dish?
It is best to eat up as much as possible within 2-3 days.
If you want them to last longer, you can freeze them, but the texture of the vegetables will be much worse.
Yes, we often eat the side dish with rice. Also, it becomes good snack with drink such as beer :) You don't have to make main dish, it's totally up to you!
Hope you enjoy these dishes 💕
I like it everytime she says, "Stir to combine(✿^‿^)."
Are those sides are paired with rice? Maybe i'll try the 1st one and one or two others without pork or sake.
Please do so! You can have that with rice or enjoy it on its own. Enjoy it any way you like.
😊
😍
As a person who has always salted eggs, I am not able to convince myself to add sugar to them. But the other side dishes are great, thanks for the recipe!
Thank you!
You don't have to add sugar to the eggs😊
May I know which brand of soy sauce were you using? Thanks 🥢🍶
Thanks for your comment!
I use kikkoman shiboritate fresh soy sauce!
nihonten.com/product/kikkoman-shiboritate-fresh-soy-sauce-450ml/
Can these dishes be reheated after storing them in the fridge
Yes! I think so! Eat warm, except for salads 😊
how long should I season the pork with ginger and miso?
Once seasoned with sake, soy sauce and ginger, it can be baked immediately. (If you have a time, maybe it's better to wait for 5 minutes.)
Once miso is added to the pan, stir-fry until miso is dissolved. When the ingredients are cooked and well mixed, it is okay to turn off the heat.
@@JapaneseCookingChannel thank you!
What is miso paste?
Thanks for watching my video!
Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning. It is produced by fermenting soybeans with salt and kōji (the fungus Aspergillus oryzae).
Good! Fast.
Thanks!!
Can I have Japanese coleslaw recipe?
Thank you for your comment!

【Direction】
Please shred cabbage and carrot. Soak them in salt water, then drain water and pat dry them with paper towel well. Finally, season them with mayonnaise, vinegar, and sugar. Add salt and pepper as needed.
Hope you will like it😊
Are Japanese side dishes made in single meal format only, or can you make some of these in larger batches for weekly meal prep? I try to only do one or two big cooks a week, as I have chronic fatigue and don't have the energy to fix many dishes a day.
Thank you for your comment!
You can make them in larger batches for weekly meal prep!
Please just increase the amount of ingredients in the recipe I wrote on the description.
1:29 What's that
That's soy sauce!
can i please have the japanese name of each dishes tnx...
Is it okay to write like this?
0:31 Shoyu To Ko-n No Shoyu Bata- Itame

3:00 Papurika To Buta No Shoga Yaki
4:20 So-se-ji To Pi-man No Amakara Itame

Is it only my country, where spinach is not available, only in baby spinach form, or frozen puree form? 🤔
can i don't add sake?
You can skip it!
@@JapaneseCookingChannel thank you!
It would be very helpful if you could say which dishes are eaten hot and which are eaten cold. I don't understand how Asian and Indian chefs can prepare so many dishes and have them on the table all at once. How do they keep them hot?
Thank you for watching my channel!
I would say the side dish made with meat or sausage should be eaten after you warm them up. But, besides these, they can be eaten cold.
@@JapaneseCookingChannel thank you for responding and clearing that up for me
Don't u wash the dirt out before cooking vegetables?
I think I did... Which vegetable?
