This was my last day of WI inland trout fishing, so I went to my local stream for some last second trout! This stream can be tough to fish sometimes because of the gin clear water. A storm was brewing and luckily no storms, but it brought a ton of wind. What tenkara rod would you chose while fishing in the wind?

It helps the channel out. Thank you!
Enjoy!
I say that I prefer a little shorter and stiffer rod in the wind, but in all reality, I use what ever rod I have with me and just complain about the wind. 😀
Glad you’re still in the Tenkara community. Hope all is well. Have a safe and healthy new year.
@@TetonTenkara 🤣 I really wanted to use the Kokoro, but that would have been a SS! I had the Mizuchi on my back as well. I complain about the wind a bit too, but it always seems to be a thing here in my area of the driftless!
Lol.... so true...
The wind dictates moving to a heavier line so I grab whatever shorter, faster rod will be better matched to that line. Honestly, the thing I hate most about strong wind is that it completely destroys my GoPro audio (just can't find a good mitigator). I just love it when those big browns are hungry enough to give up their hiding places and dart out of the underwater/creekside vegetation. Nice work Jared!
@@tenkaraintheiowadriftless great point Gary about using a heavier line! Yeah that wind noise can take over every thing else! Yeah it’s super fun for sure! Thanks Gary! We will have to meet up in 2025! Happy New Year!
@@tenkaragenki HNY to you too!
Great video Jared. I am in the Tom camp above..fish with what I have and complain 😂
@@blueridgeflyguy9551 thanks Mike! lol yep, still have to fish!
I bet that creek is greeeeen in the summer! Looks fun. 😊
Very green! They love to ambush for the seems! So fun!
Forget a rod. Wind like that calls for a chartreuse gernade 😂
@@karl5633 haha! Tie it up and I’ll fish it!
I only have a Nissin Professional Kawashi 360 Tenkara rod, so use that. I live in Cape Town, which is often windy. I find that the Tenkara is much better in the wind than a conventional fly rod...
Very nice! I’ve never fished any Nissan tenkara rod before! Good to hear it works well in the wind! And better than conventional fly rod! 😁
Another great video! What makes the rod you were using a better windy day rod?
@@Bradley-bm1ou thanks! Well I had the Kokoro, Mizuchi, and the Ragnarok on me. So I went for length and stiffer but responsive rod for the clear creek n windy conditions. The Kokoro would have been too soft w the wind and the Miz a lil shorter than the Rag.
@@Bradley-bm1ou always best to have a couple of rod options on creek for whatever the creek n weather throw at you imo. Also in case I break a rod, which I never do. 🤣
@@tenkaragenki Okay thank you. I have been thinking on buying the Ragnarok rod!
@ it’s a well tested beast imo! Great 13ft tenkara rod backed by a great company. I have a DragonTail link in my description if you so chose to use and purchase a Ragnarok. Hope this helped.
@@tenkaragenki Okay thank you!
