  • It's easy for leaders and band members to think of themselves as different, separated from, or even above the members of their congregation. In this episode of Sound Plus Doctrine, Bob and David suggest reasons we might think that way, why it's unhelpful and unbiblical, and ways we can start seeing ourselves a members of the congregation under the leadership of Jesus.

"People haven't come to church to listen to my voice. I want to hear the congregation!" So good and something I need to be more intentional with when I lead. Thanks guys! 👊

Thank you, guys! I am blessed to be able to play keyboard and sing with a group of other members of our church on various Sundays. We are a small church that meets in a primary school. Our pastor situates us leaders in the front, but over to one side. The speakers are in front on either side of the screen with the words, so the words are what people are looking at. Pastor Boyd was trained at John MacArthur's Master's Seminary in California and he loves your ministry and follows your excellent teaching for the church.
Thanking you for writing such wonderful, biblically sound music for the church❤

Great reminder! “Sometimes, the first duty of the intelligent is the restatement of the obvious.” I know I need to hear it!

It’s a good thing I lead worship in a very small church. I loooove hearing the congregation sing. I would literally step away from the mic to join them. I do that when I know they know the song very well. 🙂
And when I’m done leading worship, I sit next to my husband to listen to the sermon and take notes.
I never thought about the other end of the spectrum since I’ve never been part of a huge church. 😅😅

Sweet gentle reminder brothers. Thank You. Luke 10:19 “don’t rejoice that the demons submit to you, rather that your name is written in the book of life.”
I am glad to use the gifts God has given. More glad, more grateful, that He knows and loves me.

Bob mentioned having a room mic for the crowd going to his IEMs. We just started incorporating IEMs and I'm dealing with feeling that disconnect. What type of room mic do you recommend to feed to the monitor sends?

Any good condenser mic within your budget should be fine!
