You sir are a good service tech. You do not pad her bill with things she didnt need. Imwith you ,the unit was down due to the cap. Othing more. No need to guage up if not needed. One guy on here,i wont .ention any names but went to service a unit ,system was running ,he checked cap and it was with in spec but still sold her a cap and chargedher over 140 for cap. Plus charged her 80 bucks for coil cleaner and all the unit neededwas washed out with water. You do great reputable work.
Those roads in that community look in bad shape for such expensive homes. My son does same type work & he has had serious injuries from trying to get away from bees, wasps etc.
I purchased the same capacitor tester you use and it works great. I tested the new ones I gave in stock at home. I actually have every electrical component needed to get it up and running if I have a problem. I went with all oem parts or equivalent.
Aww! That’s the same trane unit I have but hers is a little bit older because it has the older brown relay and mine is the white one. I cleaned both coils inside and outside and the system is working great. 👍🏼
Ted, could you please do a video on the referenced refrigeration change. My two units are 17 years old (American Standard). I guess I need to decide to replace them before the change if it’s going to be that bad. Thanks!
Not a fan of the upcoming A2L laws either. Working with gas heat and it’s flammability hazards but flaming heat pumps are a whole new ball game. And all the new tools needed to service things
What does a service call labor charge only for cap replacement in your part of country? My local authorized Trane company was out to do our member included 6 month tune up and found bad capacitor that was covered under partial 10 year warranty (parts only). The labor charge was $240.00. The unit is 9 years 7 months old. Trane 2.5 ton XR15. I live in Kentucky 41051 area of country.
I've been hearing about the new Freon and they said it is highly explosive there will have to be special detectors installed on a furnace the return plenum supply Platinum and other spots I hope we don't get those. They have used that Freon before and it exploded a home and cause other bodily injuries
What do y'all charge for capacitors? My elderly boss just paid $300 for a new in the furnace contraption inside the house. Not the outside equipment like what is in this video.
All I could add to the advise to the customer is asking their gardener to trim those bushes/plants back two feet so they can avoid leaves and pine needles. The rest is all a fair shake. Just a cap so why keep digging for something if its working like always. It'll keep running for years and years now that its made it this far. I'm not sure what the changes are with the A2L gas other than they are flammable. I wonder it will carry the heat as equal or better than 410 does. 410 compared to R22 required much more condenser and evap area to do the same job as R22 did. Just like newer cars that went to 134a from R12. There was a huge difference in cooling capacity when they moved over to 134a and had to develop larger and more complete condensers and evaporators to keep up.
You do a great job love your videos love your work, the only thing I would do ,is put a date on the capacitor, but that's no big deal that's just my opinion just saying
I ain’t mad at you Ted! I believe that you have met the consumer’s needs by getting this particular unit back in service with a fair minimum of repair items to bill for. I’m convinced that the salesman in you presented a fair case for replacement before the laws change. I do hope you shared the potential maintenance cost of 410A after the phaseout.
The trend is more concessions with flammability in exchange for less environmental impact. The changes are getting annoying. I feel like we should just go straight to propane, as it seems that's where we're headed.
I am very much in agreement, especially with regard to the refrigerant circuit. It's just tempting fate to gauge up on an older system when it is otherwise performing reasonably. With regard to the whole R-32 flammable refrigerant thing, you're already using it -- it's part of the R-410A formulation.
Nice job. Your advice is spot on. Customer first, sometimes u just need to use common sense. Btw could u please fix that squeak, noise, on your truck side door.
I have a 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid that has the A/C Compressor run by the 450 volt battery and uses R-1234yf. It is the best A/C I have ever had in a car, and at 68 years old I've had a few. I have seen the price of it and it is crazy expensive.
Glad it wads a simple fix I think most of what happens is the caps going bad. I studyed HVAC in the early 90's when they first started the EPA Test. They were open book back then. I just put in my garage apt I live in a 410A Dakin mini split was on a Train R22 system from 2003. Why are they changing to another system from 410A seems like its not been that long, maybe 10 years they killed out R22
they were using carbon dioxide in Europe 10 years ago. problem with that is DuPont will not make enough money selling CO2, so here in good old USA we get some propane type refrigerant and DuPont just keeps getting richer.

Great job man you are a honest technician and we need about 10000 more of them just like you.
I would love for you to do a video on the new refrigerants that are to come with an explanation of the pros ,cons and cost. Thanks
Ted for President!!!
Those roads in that community look in bad shape for such expensive homes. My son does same type work & he has had serious injuries from trying to get away from bees, wasps etc.
Cap and go is the way to go.

Thanks Ted . Please make a video on upcoming refrigerant change. Intrested in the pro and cons on the new refrigerant. From the expert.
I liked how you checked for residual voltage on that capacitor.
I agreed, the new refrigerant change to A2L is just going to cost customers and us service companies more. But the elite few will see higher profits.
Houses tight? Have you been to the UK, haha. Another good video!
Please do a video discussing the refrigerant change. I'm not in the industry, but as a consumer I'd like to learn more about this topic.
I would never be able to squeeze by that unit!😊

Hey,I'll gladly take one of those terribly close homes in that beautiful area
Thanks again for being honest and fair!
Great video like always. And leave it up to the government to decide what’s good for us peasants 😢
It always seems to be the capacitor with these A/C units.
Not a fan of the upcoming A2L laws either. Working with gas heat and it’s flammability hazards but flaming heat pumps are a whole new ball game. And all the new tools needed to service things

how you doing i liked your videos can you tell where can i buy the screwdriver that you use?
I always appreciate your pragmatism and integrity, Ted! Great job as always!
Do you think AmRad is at least equal to Mars caps? I DIY caps and only want the best.
Gotta love cap and go’s
So, is that how you check to see if a capacitor is discharged or not?
You try to shock yourself with it?

Is that refrigerate change local or federal. Haven't heard anything. Except for gas ovens.
Ted after all this years you started running GoPro 👍
Flammable refrigerants incoming.. what could go wrong..yay!
Love the channel
I havnt had a problem with bojack. but i like USA Titan.
run cap bandit. Good job man. I’d like to hear what you think about the coming changes
In refrigerant

what type of camera were you using to make this video?
Always very happy to see a Happy Customer once Again. Have a great weekend.

Another change. I heard about that
Well, if you called me a "Helicopter", you'd have 1` less customer.
Ok
It’s all bout the money with bib brother
Old school Ted with a cap n go classic 😅
Cap n go

Spray WD -40 on your doors😊ty
All those fancy homes right on top of each other with no land.

Nice video Ted, a easy job for a change. That was a nice tidy gated estate 👍 Au
The FPS is way lower than normal

$100 Ted
wha, wha, whaaa,
Come to NYC if u wanna see "tight" lol!
Don't show no more capacitor issues, every body else is doing it that. Show more challenging issues.
Another satisfied customer
Remember the customer is always right They call the shots and you make em happy ... It's all good ... Thx
