I met Marilyn Lightstone some 30 years ago in the hospital. My grandmother was a patient there and while I was visiting her Marilyn LIghtstone was there visiting one of her parents. She came around and chatted with all of us.
Another great scene. I always loved how Anne's face completely lit up when she heard Miss Stacey speak on that first day. There were two things in the world that Anne critically needed. Matthew and Marilla had already taken care of the first thing, and now, for the first time, she had a kind and caring teacher to bring out her potential and guide her to great things. And when she met Miss Stacey for the first time, it's like she knew her future was finally beginning.
Mrs Stacey was that teacher we all wanted. She was an endearing woman, encouraging her pupils to broaden their minds and to be educated just the right way. Anne had a good teacher. Mrs Stacey was the one who ensured her education was going to be a success. It was also her who managed to get Anne to become a teacher as well.
All the actors in "Anne of Green Gables" are wonderful and talented but especially Marilyn Lightstone who made the series so special as Anne's mentor teacher.
Have you seen Treasures of the Snow? Worth the watch similar in the story lines by Patricia St.John. Free on RUclips. The offender trying to win the offended getting smacked in the head like Anne did to Gilbert and like the "unnecessary" rescued of Anne from drowning the offended had to face reality when she was in need of rescue.
oh yes and when you view her next to the teacher they had before her, you see how much a teacher and their passion or lack there of has a great effect on the kids....
Marlyn Lightstone was Fabulous as Mrs Stacey in Anne Of Green Gables !!! Love , Love this movie !!! Thank you to everyone who put there heart and soul into making a Canadian Classic !!! Big Hugs xoxo
She reminds me of one of my former teachers. I saw Miss Stacy in one of the early seasons of Road to Avonlea for the first time and I thought she was perfect as a teacher. I really liked Aunt Hetty but I still wanted Miss Stacy to become Sarah's teacher, too.
Don't be too snobbish on today's kids. Most adults wouldn't be able to pass the test. And not to brag.. my nephews passed tests by their teachers that made my hard teachers seem like pushovers! lol. And I had to work very hard to get every B+ and A- I got...
Really?? It wasn't a "girl crush"... it was like "OMG.. someone who gets me and from who I can learn and be myself". She'd become Anne's academic and professional champion and confidant as Anne developed. She became Anne's mentor and guide. In fact, it was Miss Stacey who encouraged Anne to become a teacher and then go on to be a teacher at an all-girls college.
I love Miss Stacy! She was so endearing and kind, but firm, and cherished each one of her students. The perfect teacher even for modern time.
If more teachers were like Miss Stacy the world would have fewer problems.
Parents today would eat Miss Stacy alive .
@@angelamalcomb1373 parents today shouldn’t be parents to begin with
She made school fun, unlike her predecessor.
I became a teacher in part because I wanted to be like Ms. Stacey. Looking back, I realize how painfully naive I was.

The casting for this movie was divine. Perfect in every single way. Truly, a masterpiece that will go on forever.

Rose32285 That was my face as a 12 year old when my English teacher incorporated this movie into a lesson! I loved that teacher.
Well said!
I love her calm voice.

I listen to Marilyn's program on Classical 96.3fm each evening. Her voice has not changed, though she is now 80. The best way to end my day.

Beautiful. What a differance a great teacher makes. Another cast member that nailed their part. 💖

Omg. This has to be one of the best adaptations I’ve ever seen. Brilliant.
I always loved Miss Stacey; she was so lovely and endearing... the teacher every1 always wished for! 😊
Great actress and artist. And one of the best smiles I ever saw, lights up the screen.
The actress looked nothing like Miss Stacy is described in the book, yet she was utterly perfect. So glad she was cast.

My mom got the saying "the truth will set you free" from this very scene ❤️
Oh. I forgot I was only watching a clip, so I was devastated when it ended.
Dang Ms. Stacey reminds me of my 7th grade English teacher she always did care and thank goodness for passionate teachers.

Anne totally had a girl crush on her.
Think it was admiration and respect for her passion.
