Notoriously shy Matthew going out of his comfort zone to buy a special present for Anne never ceases to warm my heart. This miniseries' shine will never dull, it's timeless and classic. The cast was so perfect!
Matthew makes me think of my Dad. I was adopted also. When I was in high school, Dad was quick to buy pretty formal dresses for my school dances too. I love and miss him every day😔💕
I grew up with an uncle just like Matthew. He was godafather to one of my little sisters and he loved to spoil her at Christmastime too. Shy, kind, unflichingly honest, honourable and hard-working. We will never see their kind again and it pinches at my heart to see my uncle in Matthew's sweet face. ❤️
The twist in the story, from the beginning. It isn't about an orphan who was never loved. She came especially to 2 people who never figured out how to love, but had so so so much to give. Matthew was such a lucky man and I love that he knew right at the start but didn't realize it in the moment just quite. I love the part of the story, just before this, when in the book it says he was glad he wasn't in charge of Anne. Because that meant he was free to spoil her!
This scene was soo funny and cute!! When Anne tries it on and shows Matthew and cries to him that she’s never had a more beautiful perfect dress! 😭😭😭😭 I’m so happy Gazebo has the whole series! I bought it right away! This version is always my favorite!
The first time I could not hear "garden rake" very well. As the title was telling me "Matthew Buys a Dress for Anne", I thought he was buying a fashionable garden rake without realizing that it was a huge (plastic) chicken foot, used to rake the leaves in a garden.

A great part of the genius in this series is the casting. Everyone fits their role so well. The shopkeeper is as well-cast as Matthew.
Lovely man and great great father. Even though he did meet her later in life he was indeed a perfect father.
This classic was just so good. The newer iterations of Anne just weren't as good as the 1985 has been.
