I was considering this lens for the ZF since theyre releasing one for Z mount. Im thinking i should wait on Voigtlander's 28mm 1.4 to land now. In wide angle ranges every mm is more distinct so 35mm lenses can be quite a bit different depending on your use.
Good stuff as usual! I don't shoot 35mm at all, I started back in 2015 with a Nikon, D750 (Currently own a Zf) a 40mm lens and have always stood there for both street and some portrait. Hell I don't even own a "nifty fifty" (16,28,40,85,135) Enough with rambles and to my point. My only grudge with Voigt is the fact that they haven't done anything for the 28mm crowd, and Thypoch just already announced the same Leica lens but for the Z-mount (At last no need for the Leica-Zmount converter any more) In both 35mm and 28mm @f1.4. So therefore in the pro vs cons personal grand scheme of things as a 28mm shooter, Thypoch has a very compelling offering... Cheers!
I admire your "testicular fortitude" shootina Leica in big city in todays world!! I live in a small town in Pa and I'm nervous just walking around with my old Minilux zoom!! Yes I still shoot all film😊. I'm 60 and I'm not switchin now!✌️

The Leica APO Summicron-M 35 is indeed a stunning lens. The Summilux-M 35 FLE is no slouch either. How is the SL3 treating you? Did you sell the SL2 or did you keep it as a backup?
I was on the fence regarding this lens, I will keep my VM Ultron II 35mm f2 which is almost always on my M10-R. Great review and sensible conclusion … as always.
re; build quality. I have the 28mm Simera and the Light Lens Lab 50mm f/2 elcan. LLL are pretty solid comparatively. Sorry I ran out of kidneys to sell. To buy the APO-Summicron 35mm for my M11😕
For five years, it was my Leica SL2 with APO Summicron-SL 35/2 with Sigma’s 24/3.5 and 85/1.4 to bracket it. I added an M11 for when traveling light. Recently my primary kit has evolved to the SL3 with APO SL 35, APO SL 90 and Q3 (I’m still sorting my super-wide, but will probably go Sigma 17/4). When it’s all about color SOOC and ultimate IQ and I have the time to set up the shots, it’s my Hasselblad X2D with 45/4 and 90/2.5, still sorting out super wide (again). 😊🖖🏻
@@3BMEP Thank you so much for your quick response Hugh! Do you sometimes feel that you're missing something that can give you more shallow DoF in your photography (like the new Sigma 50mm f1.2 DG DN) ? Also have you considered 21mm for street? I have the SL3 with 24-90 and Sigma 70-200 for event work, Zeiss 35mm Distagon and 85mm Tele-Tessar for hiking/nature and Q for travel/streets, but would like to also use SL3 for streets and travel and want autofocus lens that is lighter than 24-90. Not sure which one :). 35mm APO SL? 21mm APO SL? 35mm SL ASPH? Sigma 24mm f2?

Nice video! Did you get the chance to play with the 35mm voitglander f2 apo lanthar? I'm trying to decide between the 2 for the nikon zf
I bought the APO Lanthar 35/2. Very sharp, although CA correction not quite as good wide open as I expected it to be. Still: a great lens.
@@3BMEP between the Typoch and the apo, what say you?
Hugh I am so far off being able to buy into a Leica system, but I still adore watching these reviews!!
All good! Our joy comes from the sharing. Happy to be of service. 😊🖖🏻

It is a significant and useful upgrade, John. As for the rest: hold that thought. 😎
I appreciate the Bach music here.

The optical optical formula is suspiciously similar to Summilux fle🤔
Oh my - looking at it right now. You are right! Not identical, but essentially duplicative. Disappointing.
Give them time, soon they'll be developing quality glass for the price.
One vote for Voigtlander lenses here ✋
Outside of testing new lenses, what is your go to setup for shooting street photography in NYC?

I currently have the 50/1.2, 20/2 and 20/1.4 in for evaluation. For me it’s less about DOF than field of view and light gathering.
@@3BMEP Sounds great. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on those two 20mm lenses.
@jirischlemmer8196 I’ve already done reviews of both, but stay tuned.
The DOF indicator looks like a 'metal disease.'
