Great vid as always! I love the Matoi cameo, it seems like Sega is tying the game to PSO2 more and more. The thing with Dark Falz during night is also a really nice observation!
From what I’ve seen in the storylines of the earlier series and others, it seems like the new enemies often don’t have deep connections. However, from Xiao’s and Cassra’s words, it sounds like they themselves don’t know what the future holds and can only speculate on the probabilities. But one thing that’s very clear is that in every series of this franchise, the root cause always comes from someone, and it's usually someone who dies while leaving behind problems, like the Darker. It took thousands of years to eliminate the Primordial Darkness. But I think Starless might actually be a truly new enemy without any prior history. It’s quite strange because normally in this series, the villains tend to be weak to the light element, but this time, they are primarily weak to the dark element, though some high-level ones like Dark Falz are still weak to light.
Satisfactory Video Cathy. I also enjoyed this chapter and the extra information you found just adds even more depth and mystery to it. I wonder what the future holds.
Great work as always dissecting and diving through what they left us with. Having them actually explain the formers, alters and ruine enemies just put a smile on my face. I dont know if it was just me but animations and voice actingin chapter 7 felt like they were on a different level compared to before. Could be another reason for the delays because i want to believe chapter 8 will actually be much bigger than the previous ones considering how much they need to tackle. Also, you mentioning the music tie in, along with all yhe music breakdowns you've been doing, and the thought to replay the story from og pso2 gives me something to do once i get the chance.
"Phantom Demon Division" Ah, I see Kyoyuka started his own military ops division after PSO2. XD I do hope you continue to yap about story leading up to February, since it'll be a long wait. I wonder if all of the internal conflict with Resurgent ARKS was really just 'differences in viewpoint', of if someone got wind of what was really going on with Zephetto, and knowing they couldn't confront him without also alerting Vael, staged an attack to gain access to the Guardian and make it appear as though that cryo pod was simply lost in the conflict. ...despite the confirmation about their diet, they still haven't actually disproven my former theory that Starless love marshmallows. They can love both marshmallows AND photons. XD Also we're still technically only a little under halfway to Halphia Lake's BP requirement.
I do think it's very likely someone opposing Zephetto's plan might still be alive and have been doing countermeasures in the shadows. Which likely ties to how we ended up on Halpha. I imagine after defeating Vael we'll get a call from that person asking us to seek them out in NC.
if you ever saw warhammer fantasy trust me , Vampires and chaos demons fight really frequently. translate it to PSO2 with the Darkers vs starless and boom :O
The tall building with the "bird with spreaded wings" logo shares the same sticker with ARKS Campship's (you can see the sticker on the floor right before the drop portal), so probably they're communication towers for aerial traffic or the flight school.
It's a very similar design! The bird is near identical but it has a few differences. It lacks the thunderbolt separating AR and KS and has text underneath it. Unfortunately PSO2 textures are too blurry to read. It's interesting how the font still matches NGS font more than PSO2 font though. Maybe Resurgent ARKS retrofitted that logo and used it's font as a basis for NGS font? There are far too many buildings with that logo and far too little signs of flyable crafts for me to believe all of these building are flight schools. The urban district alone has like a dozen buildings labeled with that logo, it's way more common than the ACA School Emblem or the Medical Sticker.
Now that you mention the Halpha Lake combat theme, you know how using MARS ignores boss themes, and falls back on the regular combat theme? I don't know if a giga still spawns in the Halphia Lake area, but I kinda wanna wait around there until a storm, then pull out MARS to see if it triggers the Halphia Lake combat theme.
The lack of new zones and now story updates of any sort for this many months is getting pretty egregious. I just hope they have big plans to make the wait worth it. Great work uncovering the meaning of the new symbols in the nameless city
Yeah honestly I wouldn't be surprised if our fight against Vael will trigger chapter 8 in a similar vein it triggered chapter 5. Though I really wish they fleshed out chapter 7 a bit more with side-cutscenes.
These are some good yaps. The theory of 909 not being a clone is an interesting one. Personally, I would've considered it more bold for SEGA to say the Guardian is truly dead and your clone carries on their legacy, but I would also understand wanting to write in a way the Guardian survives due to the potential spectacle of it. Either way, gets my brain stirring for my CAST headcanon. I also never noticed how the first letters of Halpha's 4 major regions are the same as ARKS. Very nice catch there.
The third person you mentioned who could open the Guardian cryopod would likely be an ARKS admiral. In base PSO2, this was Ulku, who demonstrably had the authority to invoke Code Abyss, even on Guardians. Would make sense the ARKS admiral would have the authority to unlock Guardian cryopods as well.
This is great. I’m completely new to phantasy star with ngs being my entry point earlier this year. Been a lot of fun so far and already wracked up over 1k hours
Remembering chapter 7... during Zephetto's talk at the end, I couldn't help but to reference Kazuhira Miller in Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes quote "They played us like a damn fiddle", but all the things you mention here... has now delivered even more questions, and yeah... what the heck happened to the Draconians? (that question until now, never came into my mind), also once again... I have the feeling that Casra knew more about ARKS situation post-Shiva's Armada/Primordial Darkness battle but probably we haven't been told what it could be... oh man, while I don't have my hopes high, I would wish to see what the NGS team is cooking in regards of the story, then again, we don't really have much lore about the Starless Dark Falzes other than just like the synthetic DF from Resurgent ARKS being more active during night-time... but also that brings another question when speaking of Masquerader... what the heck happened to Omega? Yeah... it seems that for every answer we get, two or more questions come from those, and... don't you think that probably on Earth could have a backdoor to Halpha just like how they have one to enter the Oracle Fleet?... ok, I better stop here... for now.
The question regarding Earth that I wonder about most is is Deus Esca still spawning over there? did Earth develop their own ARKS-like military to deal with it (and Yamato) once Hitsugi, Kohri and Enga were too old to fight? I doubt we will receive any answers regarding that since it's possible we're entirely cut off from that Dimension but it's a burning question I have nonetheless
a question a planted in my channel is : if the 500 ago weak photons called the attention of starless Like the Zorgons from Zathura (an alien race so desperate for heat sources , so bad that even the smallest falme call their atteintion) then , why they didnt arrived during the 200 years that long lasted the war against the Darkers or even scarier question , why the Starless didnt arrive during the Photoners golden age . if base PSO2 arks are a nutritive food , then the Photoners are a delicacy edit : other fact i forgot to metion its the Arks who survived the 1st experiment , they are NGS cast ancestors , since they lived the same sympthoms as the Cast since birth .

To confirm your dwindling copium, I took a look at the credits for both PSO2 and NGS, the director for PSO2 had worked on countless anime, games, and other projects. The director for NGS was a monster designer for 2 Phantasy Star games, worked on Episode 5, and 6 for some aspects, and then began directing NGS. Sega literally threw out an industry veteran for a monster designer who has next to no experience.
My guesses for some gotta be: Photoners causing Primordial Darkness to pop out introduced Dark Photons, which could have the opposite effect on Starless, being poisonous to them, so they sit back and let ARKS deal with the problem themselves. Xiera could have the authority to release us from Cryosleep as well, and since shes a HI-CAST she could age differently.
My personal theory is Vael is breeding ARKS like livestock so he can have a nigh endless supply of photons from super strong ARKS. Why else would he wait for ARKS to get this strong? Higher PSE level, more photons, better meals.
My favorite baseless theory is that we're in post-ep6-bad-end omega, featuring: the lonely protag because we died alone, an explanation to our flashback, and why everything feels like a mash of something we were familiar with. With enough copium one can even explain the janky parts of the plot with omega fuck ups And my favorite thing to derive from this theory is that there's a copium-sized chance we get to see Shiva on the good side. Remember how she was aware of previous cycles? Could be so cool
Nameless City reminds me a bit of Darker's Den in it's ominous location, massive spires decorating the background and skybox, and ever present enemies. The massive difference is a rhyme & reason to the structures in NC while DD was bereft of such notions. Regardless, for all of the data that the Resurgent ARKS gathered, I'm shocked that there wasn't a single bit of Luther involvement in any of it. He has his finger in every pie when it came to most of PSO2... I mean... It's not like he's the one that released the Guardian this time.
Now i wonder what is veil planning now sense solus and dalion failed to stop us many questions still unanswered perhaps he is still planning where to strike next sending another one of his commanders to stop as a test hmr.
Thank you so much for going so far in detail Neko bot had some of the writing translated you did it on a whole other level thanks for explaining I find the 200 years gap really interesting my guess is after zafatos planet got eaten he had some equipment or cast body that worked like cold sleep for about 200 years resrugnt arks found him near the destroyed planet or he somehow did something in space time the 2nd 1 seems more likely by the way did you. By the way did you know we got new side story in the arks Chronicles other in chapter 6 called The Rise of Resurgent ARKS 1 and 2 there mini episodes we got few months after the chapter 6 story update I don't think Sega told us about them or maybe in passing basically they talked about the starless didn't do a lot of damage to the main part of the universe and kinda how zefato thought the starless will come in 500 years and it will be worse if you didn't watch those mini episodes could you maybe add some of the details in a future video I wish more people were aware of them

There is a massive gaping plot hole that I want them to address because it needs an answer, and that is did the starless always exist, because if they have always existed here's the problem with.
