Naomi Watts gives one of the most under-rated horror performances of all time. I will go to the grave saying that.
I love that the plot twist was "oh, the little girl was ACTUALLY evil".
Samara’s mom wasn’t “crazy.” Samara was putting images in her head which made her lose it.
But we seriously need a new movie with Naomi Watts. Rachel and Samara need to go at it again.
One little detail I always enjoyed in this movie: the first time we see the doctor interview with Samara, they ask "You don't want to hurt anyone, do you?" and she replies "But I do, and I'm sorry. It won't stop" - but she says it in this sad, apologetic tone, almost like she's saying "I'm sorry that I keep hurting people without wanting to, I can't seem to stop it from happening." But then the second time we see that interview replayed, her vocal tone is much more spiteful and self-satisfied, like now she's saying "No no, I definitely DO want to hurt people - sorry (not sorry) 'bout it, bitches! And I'm gonna keep hurting people, too, so consider yourselves warned!"
That was actually a pretty tame reaction to Samara literally popping out of the tv. 20 years ago that got me! But here, Alanda’s calmly noticing that she’s getting water all over the studio 😂
"At best she's ruinin' your hardwoods; a bitch of a friend!" That was one of the best lines I've heard in a long time xD

So the original draft of the movie there was a subplot about Rachel doing a story on a child abuser and he was the one that she ended up showing the video to at the end. In the scene when Noah dies, when he lifts his cup which left a ring on the newspaper, you can briefly see the man they ended up showing the video to. The storyline was cut because of pacing issues and to shorten the movie runtime. Also (random tidbit) the guy who owns the lodge, that was doing the card tricks, watched the tape before Rachel and there’s a deleted scene where Noah discovers his body on a boat in the middle of the nearby lake.
