This is the most unbiased Toyota fanboy video I’ve seen. With all of Toyota’s shortcomings, I guess what we have for them is, unconditional love... haha they always give less to their buyers and we seem to be trained to prefer it.
I love how alot of old raptor owners actually sell them for tundras lol thats what I did... my 2018 raptor was a lemon and love my trd pro tundra! yes no cool gimmicks but its the reliability
To me, the most invaluable part of any Toyota, is that they emphasize, and focus on durable reliability above frills. I have had 3 Toyota trucks since 1984, with just under a million miles spread among them, and not one had to be towed, or wouldn't start (2 dead battery exceptions). I have only replaced to mechanical components - 1 water pump, and 1 A/C compressor. They aren't the fastest, but I get where I am going the same time the flow of traffic does. They don't ride like a car, but they offer a firm yet supple ride with good terrain feedback. That is why I have another new Tacoma being delivered later this week.
I'm not really a Toyota fan but the tundra is really nice I may get a tundra. right now I have a Ford raptor and a Ford mustang Shelby gt500 I used to have a Shelby gt350r but I upgraded my collection
So I have to now would you still pick that generation tundra over a gen 2 raptor? I have a 2011 tundra platinum with 216k miles on it. I haven’t had to do much to it except replace a starter brakes and tires. I love the look of the raptor and have really been looking at the gen 2 since the price has dropped. So would the gen 2 be the best bet over say a 20/21 tundra TRD pro or platinum??! Any info would be helpful thanks
I’m with you there. I want all the phone that the raptor owns but for long-term reliability it is definitely the tundra plus having that back roll down window
The power delivery is more linear in the Tundra, the raw visceral sound of the V8 makes for a more dramatic experience too. More enjoyable. The Raptor is just a sports truck... super quick, gets to speed in a hurry but less appealing to the senses in my opinion. Both are exceptional machines no doubt!
Loving your videos man! I’m jumping all over between a 2022 Tundra TRD Pro or getting my first “dream truck” which is the 2021 in Lunar Rock. Happy Thanksgiving from us out in Virginia, subscribed!
Appreciate the support man, thank you! It’s a tough call for sure… the value of these V8 Pros will remain high for years. So you can’t go wrong with the ole dinosaur in my opinion. =]
@@rotorwind177 they have their new ‘22 models coming in so they have about 7 ‘21 tundras they need to move now, the 1794 is the only 4x4 they have, I’d be good with just an off road 4x4 but that 1794 does have a nice interior
Perfect example of “less is more” as always with the Tundra. Edit: only thing that kept from there being perfection within the 2014-2021 era tundra for me is there being no crew cab with regular 6.5ft bed option.
Great video. The Raptor is definitely cool, but I agree (I’m biased of course as I have the same Tundra). The interior of the Raptor is super “busy” and I also appreciate the simplicity of the Tundra. Also, having the tundra, I can definitely hear the difference between the Raptor and V8 growl of the tundra when you start them up.
I do like the tundra but a stock Raptor is the perfect truck to me. Not a fanboy of any one brand. I currently own a 4Runner and before this a F150. Dig both Toyota and Ford trucks.
Are you still planning to keep your side steps on the tundra? I’ve considered taking mine off . In terms of side steps they are worthless for me. I just step over them. They really just get in the way. Just not sure how it’s gonna look without them.
I got a set used and put them in my tundra because my wife is short. I agree, I don’t like them. Makes it harder to get out ! I’ll Likely switch them out for something else. BTW, In the video he said he’s getting sliders
I am a big Toyota Tundra fan too, and I know how much people like Raptors, but I also would put my money on a Tundra every time. However, there is only one truck that I think I would prefer more than the Tundra if price was not the issue, and that is the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 3.0 Diesel engine.
Reason why I went with XLT F150 over SR5 tundra: 1) 6.5’ bed with super crew; 2) crash test results; 3) Locking rear differential; 4) fuel economy; 5) my Ford dealer is awesome. Just my thoughts.
@@freeravenadventures6925 neighbor just asked me to pick him up from the Toyota service dept next Tuesday at noon. Rear wheel bearing out on his Toyota Sienna. I thought they didn’t break down...
The raptor is definitely nice but I feel like it’d be more of a weekend/novelty truck, and not necessarily a daily driver. I’ll admit I’m biased too, but I enjoy the looks and simplicity of the tundra more than the extra hp and stuff of the raptor.
I’m with you on that. The Tundra strikes the perfect balance of everything… looks, power, comfort and thrill. All while being underpinned with its unmatched reliability. =]
Having driven both, I would take the Raptor all day long. Tundra only if towing a lot. Tundra is all old cheap quality. Raptor is light years ahead. Plus Raptor has a lot more power. Lead foot is the best color👍
The hard plastic of the ford has that texture to it and looks waaay cheaper quality of a hard plastic compared to the tundra like on the door and glovebox of both the tundra looks better the ford looks like youd find the same exact plastic in some ford focus or something
I agree with your comparison. I like the gray color better, but that lunar rock turns head and is so unique. Gray color is more popular in my opinion as you see that color everywhere. The Tundra looks tiny compared to the Raptor. Enjoy both trucks.
Personally the tundra trd pro is way better looking and better all around truck than the raptor for me. Also I much prefer the look of a stock raptor over this Shelby raptor personally. But that’s just me. Not a fan of the design of this Shelby raptor. Looks too busy and tries too hard
I think The Ford interior feels cheaper because the Shelby customizations which I think are tasteless. Also the fender flares won’t protect against rust. The rust forms from inside the fenders. Always wash the inner fenders behind the wheelhouse liners and the inner fender lip along the wheel well. Chevy is known for rusting there but historically Toyota has a bit more of a rusting romance lol. So much so they had to replace entire frames under warranty in the 2000s. I couldn’t turn a single bolt on my 2002 4Runner without breaking it lol. Can’t wait to see what will replace the raptor. Shouldn’t be too long now. Lol
I don't understand why you got the craptor. To each their own. You're going to flip it. I can see it already. Add a supercharger to the tundra and you'll have no need for the ford.
Ya the fake carbon fiber Is hideous. It’s a much more tacky interior than the tundra. But then again it’ll wipe the fuckin floor with that Tundra. So you can’t have it all lol
The fake carbon fiber is the ugliest thing in a truck and they plastered it everywhere. I do love the stance of the Raptor though, the Baja edition is just a little too bro. Tundra will transcend time, these Raptors will go out of style like shag carpet and wood paneling.
Raptor has snow on it so I'm assuming it doesn't fit in the garage. Tundra is clean so I'm assuming it fits in the garage. That's a plus for the Tundra in my book. I have to agree that the fake carbon fiber interior on the Raptor looks kind of cheezy. However, I will say they are both awesome!
U have to be kidding me , the raptor is the of all trucks , just look at that beast , now tundra is an incredible dependable truck which I love em but in this case the raptor is the baddest of the baddest ,
Whatever you do for a living, you are truly blessed. Now you just need the RAM TRX to complete your collection. :) Edit: When you go to your Toyota dealership, are they charging you over MSRP when buying all your TRD Pro models?
I share the same sentiments of the 2022 Tundra that you have with the 2018 Shelby Raptor. It just looks cheap to me. I think you reach a point in design language that you start to negatively impact aesthetics and that's what the 2022 Tundra feels like to me. Over-designed.
