I miss this ferry when I used to visit a friend in Staten Island. My favorite part was getting on super early in the morning, and the smell of coffee with a little bit of Pine-Sol was absolute heaven. I used to love that coffee, and the relaxing ride back home.
The John F. Kennedy is the last boat still in service that has them, it will probably be retired sometime this year sadly when two new ferries come on line
Thank you for all your video's. I really enjoy them. Planning my first real trip to NYC in September and your video's are going to help me tremendously on how to get around in your great city. So thank you.
TO AVOID THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF MANHATTAN, TAKE THE FERRY, SIT DOWN, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND RELAX. ABOUT 25 MINS OF SERENITY. THE BEST THING IS THAT IT IS FREE, BOTH WAYS. I DOIT ALL THE TIME WHEN I AM IN NYC, SIMPLY BECAUSE I HAVE FAMILY THERE.
Considering the dirty windows on the ferry, great job! Been a while since I rode on that boat. They should do a better job at cleaning the windows though don't you think? :)
On July 4th, 1997, Mayor Rudy Giuliani eliminated the Staten Island Ferry fare. The ferry operation was fully funded by NYC and under complete mayoral control. The ferry fare - then 50-cents was paid on the Staten Island side at the St. George ferry terminal.
The ferry only travels between St. George Terminal in Staten Island and Whitehall Terminal in Manhattan. Many people just ride the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty for free, get off at Staten Island when it docks, and then take the Manhattan bound boat going back.
actionkid105 I take the ferry almost every day! I often catch the 11am heading to Manhattan. Nice video! I've almost forgotten how it is to see the opposite direction in the daytime.
Was doing the ferry since 2014 twice a week. Been 7 months since I have..dee explains herself my RUclips channel also heycubscougarhere. SUV ran over my left foot ankle richmond rd old town...funny how fdny nypd were right there with a stretcher taking me to staten island northwell hospital.

I liked this video a lot. No crazy music or needless commentary, just the ambient sounds, thanks.
I remember the very high back wooden benches.

Yup, dirty windows are a problem in the winter for the buses also :(
@@ActionKid it always happens in winter, theres nothing the mta can do about it.
This is litteraly free shipping 😂👍🏻👍🏻
I liked it a lot!
Why couldn't you go outside? Is it always closed?
You can only go outside on certain boats and they have restrictions on which areas you can be in.
Awesome trip!) Was nice to see Russian language at 25:12 on the information board )). But hey, where's everybody running at the end? )
They're headed into the ferry terminal to catch the Railway, buses, or return trip back to Manhattan (mainly for tourists)
When i was little i ride the Staten Island Ferry
Do you live in Staten Island now? I wanna know please.
I didn't realize that it's free. Has it always been free?
Yup. It's been free for awhile now, don't remember it ever being charged for. It has been in the distant past though.
It used to carry vehicles also in the distant past. Thanx
The fare was done away with in the mid to late 90's. I think it stopped carrying cars after 9/11.

Possibly a silly question, but you get off and hang around? Or does the ferry just take you past the Statue of Liberty 🗽?

Thank you
I got hopefully tomorrow if no rain
did it rain?
Never get use to this skyline
How is that beautiful all you see is river old building. I guess none of you been on a Washington state ferry.

The boarding/disembarkeing looks so disorganized
Not really. You just walk on and off again.
