- Sorry for all the talking, but wanted to put a little video together talking about my experience with the AR5. I’ve had great luck with the transmission, and hope this answers some questions!

Been running AR5’s in in my Colorados and they are great till heated tuned 3.5 5’s. #7 here. Ae86 T50 3rd gears and high performance clutches eat factory synchros. Great vid
Thanks for this video. I’m pulling a Solstice AR5, hoping the shifter lines up okay for my E30 5.3 swap.
Solstice will be too far back! You will need a slingshot shifter housing but it will be perfect with one of those!

@@skidwerks1527 what's the length from the bellhousing to the shifter, if you know? Any different between the solstice and Colorado as far as dimensions?

Or even a 2002 silverado. But was unsure. How do ypu feel on either one of those vrs your ar5. And what year colorado,s. Thank you

May I witch vehicle did you get the trans from & how did it fit? May I ask what Tacoma? We have 07 & 15 both 5 lugs with R155’s we love to swap in Alloy block 5.3 w/ extra HP add on’s. Plus the money that we can get for the 25k mile 2tr fe will more then cover a freshen up 5.3 LSx.
@@randy6350 this was just an offhand comment. But IMHO if I were to do this I'd try and get some type of T5 variant or maybe the new TKO5 or whatever Tremec is calling it
My truck is a 95.5 Extended cab with the 3.4 V6. Honestly nowadays I'm more leaning to boosting it. Just need the funds 🤑

LCE in Lake Havasu city AZ. We have their new Magnuson SC for the 2TR it’s really good but no intercooler hurts the top end. Just don’t like having to pay extra .50 per gallon for gas. It was fine when it was .20 to .25 cents. Plus one time I’m pretty sure the station was selling Reg for premium…
@@randy6350 take a look at what the 4 and 5 cyl Colorado used to have. I've seen a few people using that trans for swaps because some junk yards have plenty of them.
Just curious what you paid for your slingshot trans? Did you find it on car-part as well? I'm having a hard time finding any ar5 transmissions locally. Thanks!
I wanna swap a foxbody or new edge soon and all my buddys live by 4l60e or T56’s. I was going to go ahead and stay with the auto trans but after finding out about the AR-5 it gave me hope for having a manual. Problem being in south Mississippi they are rare for some reason. The closest I can find is 70 miles away and $450 with 120,000 miles. How’s everyone getting them for under $300.
I watched this video a while ago and it was part of the reason I went this route on my 92 Camaro
For the last week I have been trying to get it to work. I have been messaging back and forth with fabbot to get shit right. I can’t get 4th 5th or reverse gears. What do you think??

What are the differences between beam style to cross member?
That adapter looks pretty beefy. Do you know how thick it is? Is the slave cylinder adapter the same thickness?
On the trans itself why didn't you replace the bottom 3 bolts with the hex head (shallower bolts)? I saw another vid where the clearance was supposedly an issue. Great video BTW, thanks for the upload!
It worked fine, I don’t recall why I didn’t switch them out haha.

Just find out how far the shifter sits from bell housing on a nv3500 that's what came on obs 1/2 ton trucks 3/4 tons came with nv4500.

Probably a dumb question but Im putting a LS in a fc3s and was wondering if this could reliably handle 300-350whp nothing crazy but it sounds perfect for that.

What would you recommend for a clutch pedal and master? I dont know where to start for the pedal in my 5.3 tahoe. I have a ar5 out of a colorado. Thanks

Wondering whats its strength compared to a upgraded T5. I have two T5s so the cost of the swap and what not cpuld go to upgrading the T5.
Way stronger than T5s
Curious if your speedometer works properly..contemplating the ar5 swap but unsure on the wiring for it..google doesnt seem to be helping a whole lot..

@@skidwerks1527 ive been googling all over trying to find out how it wires up.. To a stock v8 colorado harness... Cant find much other than a colorado forum talking about splicing wires together

Are all the shifters swappable? Like can you put a slingshot shifter onto the Colorado?
Allen Motorsports Official 💪 all three variants are different. The tail housing can be swapped over on all three however.
SKIDWERKS How hard is swapping the tail housings? Wasn’t able to find much info about swapping the tail housings between the colorado and solstice versions
Lucas Hughes I haven’t personally done it. There’s a few who have done it in the fabbot public page on facebook, join in there and they will be able to answer that for you!

T56 or magnum tranmission better. It can handle over 800 lbs of torque.
This is a budget transmission. That’s why I posted it. Just as strong as a t56, 1/3 the cost or more of a magnum.
Cool, now find a T56 or Magnum, with a clutch, flywheel, and all the other required pieces for under $800.
I got $2500 close enough to buy tr6060 and way better than t56 or magnum. How you like that?
What's first gear like? I have 4:11 gears in my Nova
Pretty short, I run a 3.91 in my car, but it gets it to 15-20mph in normal driving, and can be ran out pretty far
No the S10 Version NV3500 is the cheaper LS swap trans.. It has a better gear spread and you dont need to buy any fancy adapters. Everything is bolt on.. Just my opinion. It also has a higher torque rating than an AR5
BeeterOlds they are breaking at a much lower power level, and the shifter position is terrible in comparison to the options with the AR5. To each his own, but I’ve seen NV3500s grenade way more than AR5s.
Ive run the late S10 version in my 5.3 powered 91 S10 for 2 years with no issues. Most failures associated with the NV3500 comes from abuse and neglect like anything else. I have seen them survive behind big blocks. I personally know of 3 other folks beside myself that run them. No issues..
@@skidwerks1527 And you are right.. To each their own. The only NVs i have seen grenade are in 4x4 trucks with big tires.. They melt the gears off the main shaft and cluster gear.. But in a light vehicle with a good gear out back it will survive.
Isn't the shifter position super far forward on the NV3500 though? For swapping in a car this would be an issue. Good for a truck though

There’s hundreds of people running it. They are only tested to that at the factory, which is where the torque rating comes from.
According to others that torque rating is for the transmission with a clutch. So it's really just the clutch.
