    I do believe that Moore’s plan all along ( as a good democratic lobbyist would), was because he never achieved being president or Vice President of the SBC, but rather left in a hissy fit, and put into motion a rumor that he saw lots of abuse, and it just made him so mad.. he’s going to have more to say after he signed a big dollar book deal.

    I attended the same law school as Rachael Denhollander, and she was a year or two ahead of me. She was held in high regard then, and was a sort of mentor/guide for the first-year students. I’m surprised to see her joining forces with Guideposts in what appears to be a spiteful attack on the SBC, rather than a genuine attempt to address real abuse issues. I suspect that her own trauma from sexual abuse, and the subsequent fame she gained from leading the charge to take down Larry Nassar, have made her a bit overzealous. When you make yourself a hammer on a particular issue, you often mistakenly see everything as a proverbial “nail.”

      You should read her 2021 Washington Post op-ed in which she lashes out at Christians who teach women to dress modestly in public. She is the one of the main promoters of the horrid "David raped Bathsheba" meme. She is bad news from top to bottom.

      Yeah, I'm sure that can happen to well, anybody. It may still be possible though that Rachael Denhollander will accomplish vastly more in the uncovering of an insidious dynamic, even if it meant hitting a few nails outside of the target. Hopefully if that happens to an entity, they will have their opportunity to prove their innocence.

    Being a conspiracy theorist is a very, very important thing to be. Sure, sometimes what you theorized may not have come to be a fact but, for certain, if no one at least begins to theorize over the potential of a conspiracy when pieces just aren't fitting, things just aren't lining up or making sense or, that nasty pit in your gut is forming that told you something was wrong over a past incedent, then no one would ever catch, see, envision, predict or suspect the possibility that a transgression or violation is occuring (or about to occur) to someone that doesn't see it coming. The term "conspiracy theory" was a term devised to pigeon hole people in to appearing crazy, unreasonable, paranoid, as a way to deter them from taking a closer look. I would rather theorize that 10 people were molesting my child and catch the one that was, as opposed to being afraid to "rock the boat", "look like a nut", "be controversial", "bother somebody", and not give the opportunity to stop the one that was molesting my child. I extend the same freedom of theorizing to you as well.

    There's no way Lyell (sp?) doesn't bear at least some guilt for this relationship. Maybe when it started out it was coercive--it's certainly plausible that it could have been, though it's equally plausible that she pursued him. But supposing he deliberately used his position as her professor to coerce her into sex (and even in that case she'd bear some guilt, though IMO greatly reduced guilt)--it continued for, what, ten years after he ceased to be her professor? There's no way she's blameless here.

    • @aallen5256
      @aallen5256 2 года назад +1

      You're way off with this. She was groomed by Dr. Sills who was aware that Lyell had been sexually ab*sed as a child. Sills first ab*sed his position as tenured professor and minister to ab*se Lysell on a mission trip in 2004, and continued to manipulate and control her through guilt and coercion for the next ten years. She only disclosed her story when she realised Sills was returning to ministry because she was afraid he would ab*se others. You seem awfully eager to apportion blame to the most vulnerable and harmed person in this situation.

      @@aallen5256 You know all of this--how, exactly? But even taking your version of it at face value, did she have no will of her own left? Was she completely incapable of making her own decisions? And is there a reason you can't write the word abuse?

      @@danbrown586 How come you don't know any of this and are still making these aspersions?! You've not taken the time to educate yourself about this situation at all, you aren't even sure how to spell her name, while simultaneously insisting "there's no way she's blameless". You clearly don't have any awareness of the trisector of trauma, abuse and control but it absolutely renders one incapable in many ways. Maybe you also don't know why Paige Patterson being fired? Or the 380 Southern Baptist Church preachers and volunteers accused of sexual abuse or misconduct over the last 20 years?
      P.S. The Houston Chronicle did sound work exposing them and vindicating their victims, of which there are over 700. Don't take my word for any of this though - look it up!

      @@aallen5256 I'm generally aware of what she's claimed. Very little of that has been independently corroborated (so there are not two or three witnesses; see 1 Tim 5:19), and she has not been cross-examined (Proverbs 18:17), so no, I'm not going to simply believe whatever she says. But the bottom line is that she's a responsible moral agent, capable of making her own decisions, and responsible for those decisions. I am aware of and reject the mantra of "the trisector of trauma, abuse and control [that] absolutely renders one incapable in many ways."
      What Paige Patterson or any of the other less than 20 claims/year have to do with her case is unclear; I'm speaking only to her case.

      @aallen5256 2 года назад +1

      @@danbrown586 Paige Patterson and 20 claims a year for 20 years is evidence of a pattern of abuse and the protection of abusers. Minimise it how you like but over 700 victims and 380 abusers isn’t usual. That’s not going on in most organisations!
      You’re “generally aware” of what she’s claimed.. you seemingly didn’t know any of the information I gave, and yet you’re sure none of its been corroborated? Your ignorance to the facts is showing! And your victim-blaming and clamouring for cross-examination, especially considering the wealth (700!) of other victims of the SBC, looks like panic. Your confusion and lack of compassion are rather on display. But, as I said, you can educate yourself on all this (including the way abusers manipulate trauma and control)!
      P.S. But maybe start with a Houston Chronicle investigation called Abuse of Faith?
