- You can tame the rat

- The doll isn't what they seem

If Tabby destroys the piano before 2:20, Melody will instead sit and cry in front of the piano for a short time, before getting up and heading to the bathroom. If the toilet has not been destroyed, she will sit on top of it, and the Akaname will kill her. If Tabby destroys the toilet with the axe before Melody can sit on it, she will instead head back to her bedroom and hang herself. Tabby can prevent Melody's death once and for all by destroying the chair in Melody's room before she can hang herself. You gotta make sure to not step on the carpet though. You can just place the bowling ball in front of you and let the carpet try to slide under it.

@@lonejohnwolf it really is a lucky bowling ball because you can do a third of the tasks just with the ball alone.
By the time you have to leave it on the carpet, you shouldn't need it anymore, or you would in which the carpet disappears or you ultimately have to tryhard it.

Tip: when the black and grey person shows up in the parents bedroom, that means mom has died. If she shows up, then you have to restart the run if your trying to save everyone.
Definitely kindergarten vibes.
Just a correction. They show up regardless at a certain time of day in the afternoon. Mom will stay alive in the kitchen just before midnight when the hand grabs her if you took care of the puddle.
I've never seen anyone save mom, how do you save her?

Although, i havent seen anyone actually complete a run that "saves" her.
There is a way to save your entire family, but so far ive only seen one run to where she survives at the end of a run

tips:
- you can tame the rat with the sandwich
- you can put the bear trap in front of the door when dad comes home and shoot him with the two shotgun shells you have
- as a comment said, you can use water and the axe for the dad as well
- the dad has up to three phases
- there are like 6 other endings: the pacifist and the genocide are two, the other ones are in the comments
- doll + sister = good
- also i think if you chop the head off the doll you *might* get something, not sure dont @ me

You can also use Water+ axe for his first phase. Then you can use the bear trap on form 2 or 3, so you only need one shotgun shell.

@@KanuckStreams the doll is used either for the good ending (you give it to Tabby's sister) or for the bad ending (toilet monster says "one last soul remains...but where?", it's the doll that you need to kill)

This game is really interesting to me as someone with OCD. The player having to run back and forth and prevent all this horrible stuff from happening that only they can predict reminds me of compulsions tbh.

This child has absolutely no reaction to her family being brutally slaughtered and unknown entities chasing her through the house, and that’s funny to me for some reason.
I mean, she’s died like a hundred times already,
In the grand scheme of the story, the kid's been reliving all the deaths over and over again even before we start the game. When we start the game she just so happens to start writing about her loops in her diary for the sake of narrating to us, the audience. So lore-wise the child has grown numb to the horrors and is just trying to figure out how to stop them.
In addition to the previous comment, she basically has a restarting point where even if they currently died, they'll live again anyway

That might be because she lived through this exact day hundreds of times already by the time the game starts, so she's become completely numb to everything. It's a nice touch.
I've always loved games like this; where you're pushed by time to learn all mistakes you could make and avoid them in your final attempt. It's such an unexplored concept

This was kind of a concept that Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask used and I think that’s why I love this game so much
