Would you burn your child and torment him/her with horrors beyond description infinitely without end? And if that isn't enough, God supposedly is the one keeping souls in existence without who's will existence would not be, how in the HECK would love itself even be able to bare this abomination? Would you be able to perpetually maintain a dimension akin to what this game shows, knowing your most beloved are there because they disobeyed you? I haven't finished watching yet, but from my perspective, the smiling ball seems to be helping the child and I can't figure out how that fits into the game's meaning. For instance, at 22:51 it seems to save the child from the rabbit. He is about to die, and then the ball's smile flashes across the screen and everything reverts back to before the danger.
WAIT. no that makes so much sense- and like when it makes the child go back to sleep it’s forcing the child to, like, complete whatever’s happening, and it’s also helping the child get their stuff back
I feel like the giant smiley figure always luring over the kid could easily be represented as a controlling adult figure. How it put them back to bed while they were trying to play with their ball, and in their dream, peering over their shoulder enough to scare them. As if they're feeling watched by a monster.. If this is the metaphor here, I'm all in
If I remember correctly the story is the main character committed leave living and is currently either in purgatory or hell and they're trying to convince themself they're happy even though they're being tortured/toyed with by the smiley face
@@prosniperism That would explain why the lay-out is slightly like layers of hell. The beginning could be purgatory, the pretty-yet-wrong ones with the bunnies are limbo, the smiley faces eating is gluttony, and the monsters fighting over the stuffed rabbit is greed.

Watching some of this, my mind was immediately saying to myself, "Why does this game give me such Chuchel vibes?" Then I googled and learned it's from the same company. They certainly know how to create such imaginative worlds, and do it in such odd/creepy/funny ways.
This game is the creepiest piece of, well just about anything, that I have ever seen. It gives me the full body chills just to remember events from it. The creepiest part to me is when all the little heart guys are having a good time and then one of them explodes and all the others just laugh about it like it’s funny, freaking creepy. I hate to have witnessed any of this. Hope it ends on a high note but I have no interest in finding out, good day to you all and hope you sleep well after seeing this.
@@samuel_is_awesome oh really? I thought so. Because the main character made little grunting sounds like chuchel, and the art style seemed similar to it. Thanks for telling me
The creators have actually a lot of non horror games. I really recommend their games, beacose they are always in some weird environment but sometimes (like in their game botanicuela) It's actually really cute experience.
I mean the creator lives in a shithole (Czechia) the country is just Russia but the people are really mean (trust me i lived here my whole life it sucks)
It's very symbolic to loss and sadness, so I think every idea in this is very meaningful and worthy of such a thoughtful and symbolic game. The creator is very considerate for a game like this. So Ig you could say that every idea the creator had in *this* game is brilliant.
Everyone says this reminds them of their own child abuse and everything, but honestly, I believe this is depicting a specific form of abuse- abuse towards autistic children. This kid sees disturbing things and is not fazed, the smiling figures are the abusive adults that the child cannot comprehend as mean, and the kid is focused on only the ball despite what is happening around him. Also, the moments where the kid is overcome with anxiety is close to what I’ve experienced working with mentally I’ll in schools and hospitals.
@Miles Doyle So are you saying I fade into complete nonexistence if I don't repent and accept whichever holy figure decides whether I live eternally after death?
The watching smile, to me, feels like a representation of sadism, schadenfreude. Toying with the kid, keeping things out of reach, like the real life bully with the ball. Constantly taking, leading on, then torturing the child. This could be how he sees others, an underlying distrust in strangers that they may just want to watch him suffer for fun, for a laugh. Notice how all suffering is either played for laughs by others, or just outright painless. The dream characters are just desensitized to the horrible torture and death around them. The sad big head in happy smile head land is the only truly sad and vulnerable, taking the injustice out on all of the "happy normal people". But the kid, now with his happy mask broken, is able to console the big head after it's thrown through an emotional rollercoaster. Maybe the kid has witnessed the harshness of reality, felt scorned by society at large. Internalizing this idea of everyone living a false, lunatic happiness. Where everything bad is good, and just being himself makes him a target to more suffering.
I love this game and its horrifying shit so much. Its literally my comfort game. The style is cute enough for some reaosn that i can eat n stuff during it. Its like INSIDE to me, or little nightmares.

This game spoke to me on a psychological level. A lot of stuff felt like imagery for things relating to trauma, especially ones that I have experienced. In addition, the overarching story feels like someone's experience growing up and dealing with a lot of heavy shit.
@@anoyint maybe its because it's dream like? and the fact that it's all happy when you're kinda depressed due to antidepressants or drugs but it slowly distorts because it's a fake perspective of happiness. sorry if i sound edgy but it genuinely kinda shows how the happiness slowly gets distorted like in a dream. the child seems confused and happy because of his sounds but it slowly turns dark and evil and he's probably so confused. this could be after the drugs n antidepressants or possibly like growing up w or w out trauma but it also looks like the child is forcing themselves to be happy and ignoring the horrible things in that place
@@rumpelforeskin there's some placebo effects tho, and it's just indifference yeah but personally for me i did feel a much more "ability" to be happy w antidepressants. My experience tho might be diff for others :) ♡
this game is a perfect example of weird nightmares you had as a kid. it's scary in the moment but makes no sense when you try to explain the nightmare afterwards to someone
There might also need to be a warning about this causing vertigo. The spinning mechanism of the game very much can induce vertigo, as it did with me. So as a heads up for anyone that suffers vertigo.
the fact that this game was made by a czech studio ( Amanita Design) is honestly making me proud seeing such big youtubers play it even tho we are a pretty small country- Hello from Czechia :P
Mark: "How are any of you supposed to explain this to anybody?" A lucid dream of fear and suffering, stuffed in a chicken made of terror on a platter of disaster, seasoned with only the finest of trauma, cooked to perfection in the very depths of hell and back, served with a side of crying... That's the best I can do
A duck of fear, stuffed into a chicken made of terror, further stuffed into a turkey of suffering. Then the platter and etc. It's almost as disturbing as a real Turduckin.

You should EXPECT this kind of game from the guys who made Chuchel, which is like one of this channel's best series of let's plays just because of how it made Mark feel the whole time (he felt weird and wrong the whole time he played it yet that's why he loved it).
18:33 I'm fairly desensitized to horror, but this whole sequence genuinely terrified me. I don't know what it is about it that made me so uncomfortable, but I was genuinely shaken up after seeing it.
This game, as I was watching it, seemed like it was a "face the demons of your past and get back what was once yours" vibe to it. It's never just as easy as finding the lost ball. It's overcoming the fear of being bullied and the brokenness that can do to your mind. I'd love to see where this game goes!
I'm pretty sure it's actually about drugs. This person trying desperately to go back to his childhood yet all the bad memories of his past are being 'fixed' by the drug incarnation into warped nightmare versions that are 'happy' in a twisted way.
I personally feel like that the meaning behind the game is in fact not specified, rather it's subjective to everyone what it makes us feel. In general, the game is trying to portray the struggles to return to the innocent past, only to be shrouded by the things we regret.
Shadow people aren't real... Shadow people aren't real, there's always ball. Ball is with you inside and out. The people are not inside you. Ball is life... Ball is everything...
This reminds me of dealing with ocd as a little kid, everything could hurt me and everything is deadly yet i still kept that little spark of innocence. I really wanna hug that kid
@@Hexide- that happens because your brain doesn't want your sleeping body to accidentally start using the limbs it's dreaming it's using. if you want to run in a dream but you can't move, it's cause your real-life legs are motionless in bed. the same goes for if you want to punch but you can't move your arms. or you want to talk but you can't speak. cause if you do any of those things then your brain might accidentally get confused and copy those movements to your sleeping body. then you'd just be kicking in bed and you'll either sleepwalk or wake yourself up
This all majorly reeks of childhood trauma to me. Just to it's core. From putting on the happy mask and not being able to take it off, (there's multiple ways to take that in this sense, one of which being that putting on a smile for safety from trauma can lead to not knowing how to take it off later in life, to not feeling safe around loved ones enough to take off said mask, etc.) and to the concept of "losing one's head" in reference to the constant decapitation. I know I felt hella like I was going crazy in terms of my disorders and in terms of trauma. It also gives me depression vibes. The smiley face that like follows him around always seems to be at the core of his misery. Upset moments are caused by or witnessed and watched over by it. Which feels like it links to depression more than anything. If I'm honest, it's probably meant to be an allegory for depression moreso than trauma, but as someone who went through emotional trauma as a kid, it just feels...weirdly relatable in a sense I can't explain. I just get trauma vibes from it, it's not something I can put into words.
I was sitting here watching this trying to figure out it's meaning and to me, someone who was abused and traumatized as a child, it's the only thing I can match it to. The disturbing visuals and the kid seeking out joy is just trying to escape harsh reality but never finding a way out of it no matter what you do, but idk lol
The theme of murder, loud noises, blood and decapitation is seen alot. The theme of the child being chased by a bloody smiling face makes me think that the child witnessed something horrific caused by an adult he trusted and was close to. I personally believe that the person murdered or decapitated someone and the child witnessed it, the murderer then went after the child but failed to kill him. The child didn't understand what he witnessed and why someone he trusted and loved would do this so he sees horrific dreams and nightmares in relation to warped ideas of the trauma Trauma does usually come in the form of nightmares, especially childhood trauma. Edit: the big smiley face that keeps haunting him, I believe, is the memory. He feels subconsciously like he can't escape the person who gave him the trauma. Even when they're not there literally, they're still haunting their mind Edit2: times that decapitation is mentioned, implied or visualised. 1: 2:12 clown toy loses its head 2: 2:30 possibly? You lift the head off of the toy ALTHOUGH this could be skipped since lifting the head off of the Russian dolls is just how Russian dolls work anyway 3: 4:12 this ENTIRE scene. First we see heads hanging from a rope of some kind. Under them are headless toys 4: 7:35 giant pig that's head is slowly lifted off of its body with gruesome detail involving blood and stretched skin 5. 11:00 literally a depiction of a head being taken off of its body. When the ball falls down, the body becomes limp. It gets covered in blood and starts chasing the boy, it falls and the head falls off of it 6. 12:17 kids heads off of their bodies in the shadows in the bg 7. 12:33 the kid enters a bloody scene with the smiley face (my theory is that it is the trusted adult who killed) 8. 12:48 all of the child's toys are missing a piece, mostly their heads 9. 18:00 head in a pool of blood 10. 18:33 headless toys once again 11. 22:40 the giant rabbit spits out a decapitated rabbits head. The giant rabbit then chases the child to get him next (further proving my theory above) 12. 27:02 literally a guillotine surrounded by blood and heads 13. 31:04 heart person loses their head and is laughed at for it 14. 33:24 heart loses head again 15. 34:05 so much blood and head loss 16. 36:22 smiley faces (possibly representing the murderer) hold the child's head on a platter (proving my point of they tried to kill the child). Also the way the child is dressed and holding a knife, could represent the fear of ending up like the abuser (a common fear in abuse and childhood trauma) 17. 38:33 they all decapitate one another 18. 40:14 headless bodies of himself, angry smiley face (person he trusted) 19. 41:50 a head being brutally destroyed. Could be related
I had the idea that this is an autistic child who was mentally abused but didn’t understand what exactly was going on (I have the autistic idea because of how the child easily ignores or doesn’t notice the actual horror going on around them and stuff), but your theory kinda ties into that. A trusted adult, maybe like a parent or something, killed another person who the child cared for (maybe another parent, or a sibling?). The child, being too young to understand but old enough to know something was wrong, was then manipulated into believing everything was okay, which is why the child doesn’t notice the scary stuff as much unless it’s right in their face, and the mix of cute & creepy visuals are meant to show the traumatic experience from the child’s point of view.
Yeah and I think when the kid puts on the mask 35:18 it’s some sort of “happy medicine” that’s supposed to make him forget the events and that he gets addicted because he can’t take the hat off and this part is probably why it’s called happy game
to me , this game is a representation of an innocent child living through very dark and cruel situations that is confusing from a childs perspective hense why the game is so confusing yet eary. because to a child they cant really understand that concept of trauma its kind of confusing but theres also fear from what they can understand like in the game where the child knows when to fear things but doesn't necessarily know whats going on.
Exactly what I was thinking. An innocent child going through some serious mental abuse. I also think the child might have autism/adhd/anything similar, which is why they’re quick to ignore the horror going on around them and focus on their safe spot (the ball/other toys)
It all feels like someone who scary is trying to make the kid happy? Like the citizens of Halloween town trying to re-create Christmas- it just isn’t natural in some way I LOVE IT
This vibe is what made me think there was some representation of dissociation (being trapped behind a mask, not being able to see what you feel underneath), because as awful and self-punishing as it is, it also allows you to feel safety in places you couldn't otherwise.
I work as a Haunt Actor, and yeah that's pretty accurate. Got this big ole goat skull mask. Often adults are terrified, whereas kids are super excited, because a lot of them only thing "Cool goat guy! I must pet his face." And it's really sweet.

It's in the bible... are you sure? Have you even bothered to ACTUALLY research the original scriptures? You hypocrites and liars, you preach love but have no clue what that even means, and if it is the foundation of creation then how can you all be so abominable as to insult such a concept by saying it is just and right and it is so because a stupid book tells us so. By the way, your bible contradicts itself on this matter so much you seriously must be a demon to not see it.
Being capable of believing this should by all standards sentence you to jail for psychopathic and murderous beliefs!

Markiplier: "Man this kid, what a whiny brat"

I feel like the giant smiley figure always luring over the kid could easily be represented as a controlling adult figure. How it put them back to bed while they were trying to play with their ball, and in their dream, peering over their shoulder enough to scare them. As if they're feeling watched by a monster.. If this is the metaphor here, I'm all in

Thats a good interpretation
omg that makes sense. and despite my name, i really am autistic
that’s such an interesting take on it.
As an autistic woman, I agree wholeheartedly
Oh dang i didn't think of that, interesting

@Miles Doyle This man be out here reciting half the bible
Same
@Miles Doyle So are you saying I fade into complete nonexistence if I don't repent and accept whichever holy figure decides whether I live eternally after death?
Incredible theory
You are right, however, add that when the kid became an adult he used drugs as a coping mechanism.

The child didn't understand what he witnessed and why someone he trusted and loved would do this so he sees horrific dreams and nightmares in relation to warped ideas of the trauma
Trauma does usually come in the form of nightmares, especially childhood trauma.
Edit: the big smiley face that keeps haunting him, I believe, is the memory. He feels subconsciously like he can't escape the person who gave him the trauma. Even when they're not there literally, they're still haunting their mind
Edit2: times that decapitation is mentioned, implied or visualised.

4: 7:35 giant pig that's head is slowly lifted off of its body with gruesome detail involving blood and stretched skin
5. 11:00 literally a depiction of a head being taken off of its body. When the ball falls down, the body becomes limp. It gets covered in blood and starts chasing the boy, it falls and the head falls off of it
6. 12:17 kids heads off of their bodies in the shadows in the bg
7. 12:33 the kid enters a bloody scene with the smiley face (my theory is that it is the trusted adult who killed)
8. 12:48 all of the child's toys are missing a piece, mostly their heads
9. 18:00 head in a pool of blood
10. 18:33 headless toys once again
11. 22:40 the giant rabbit spits out a decapitated rabbits head. The giant rabbit then chases the child to get him next (further proving my theory above)
12. 27:02 literally a guillotine surrounded by blood and heads
13. 31:04 heart person loses their head and is laughed at for it
14. 33:24 heart loses head again
15. 34:05 so much blood and head loss
16. 36:22 smiley faces (possibly representing the murderer) hold the child's head on a platter (proving my point of they tried to kill the child). Also the way the child is dressed and holding a knife, could represent the fear of ending up like the abuser (a common fear in abuse and childhood trauma)
17. 38:33 they all decapitate one another
18. 40:14 headless bodies of himself, angry smiley face (person he trusted)
19. 41:50 a head being brutally destroyed. Could be related
This game is way sadder now
I had the idea that this is an autistic child who was mentally abused but didn’t understand what exactly was going on (I have the autistic idea because of how the child easily ignores or doesn’t notice the actual horror going on around them and stuff), but your theory kinda ties into that.
That’s so sad :( But I really appreciate the effort you put into this. You seem to have one of the best break down of this game yet
Yeah and I think when the kid puts on the mask 35:18 it’s some sort of “happy medicine” that’s supposed to make him forget the events and that he gets addicted because he can’t take the hat off and this part is probably why it’s called happy game
Around 15:39 the toy bunny is getting its head pulled off a lot
31:15
The "YOU DID WHAT?!?!?!" face and the "What in the absolute ####" happened.
to me , this game is a representation of an innocent child living through very dark and cruel situations that is confusing from a childs perspective hense why the game is so confusing yet eary. because to a child they cant really understand that concept of trauma its kind of confusing but theres also fear from what they can understand like in the game where the child knows when to fear things but doesn't necessarily know whats going on.

@@daryljosephsajulga4912 I think the context makes the one @Mallory mentioned funnier to me xD
Just the cute hearts casually laughing at someone who's head just literally exploded...
Same here!
@@xianchen1935 To be fair, considering the fact their heads explode if anything upsets them, I'm pretty sure laughing at it is the best thing to ensure a chain reaction of head detonation doesn't happen.
"How do you put this into words?!"
This entire game is full of nope.
i would put it as: chuchel experienced trauma and also has extreme schizophrenia
I genuinely worry for whoever dreamt up this twisted ass shit. The imagery is incredible, but absolutely horrific. I'd also like to point out the last game this dev team put out was Chuchel, a game about a goofy little hairball guy chasing a cherry. 13:35 you can even see Chuchel's mouth in a bubble here.
7:35 Peppa certainly has seen better days.
31:05 Markiplier.exe has stopped working.
You worry about that?
I worry about the guy that made the sounds for the game...like...some sound genuine....
Frr
@Serendipity Yep.
Made Samorost 1-3 Machinarium... All of it's so dystopian and fictional it's just woooah
I knew it looked like chuchel!
5:06 For some reason the teddy made me laugh so much 🤣😂
46 minutes of mark being utterly confused, and a whole lot of “NOOOONONO.” and “UHHHHEEWNONONOTHANKS.”
@YeaMan Can't tell if that was fake comment- I don't wanna cause drama but like- Nobody asked..?
@@XkiR0z probably a bot
@@monster_infused Might be.
For me it was just 46 minutes of having an "wtf is going on" face.
Same
the fact that chuchel was the cutest game and this one was so disturbing
get yourself a game developer that can do both
Is it actually made by the same people? I just started the video and was about to say that it gave me big chuchel vibes.
@Ivan Yes, I looked it up, the trailer was released made by the same developer. They also have the same art style, just a complete opposite vibe. Honestly, that's skill 👏🏽 I knew I recognized those gibberish voices from somewhere...
@@WorriedtheCircusDemon same! That's why I started thinking about chuchel! I couldn't quite decide if the art style was really the same or I just thought it was.
No wonder this gave me chuchel vibes
Chuchel wasn't completely cute to me. The art style kinda made it weirdly gross and the cuteness with that made it weirdly disturbing as well. The art style just made things look "crusty".
Me: thinks we’re done
The game: we ain’t even half way through baby
Mark: Beats part one of inscryption
Mark: I did it
Game: we ain’t even half way through baby
21:37 - 'you can take the child out of the nightmare, but you can't take the nightmare to Bunny Grove...don't F'n do that'
also, you probably shouldn't follow that Seth Rogen bunny
@@fitzdevlinno
From the look of this game I thought: "hey this looks kinda like chuchel!" It is in fact the Chuchel people. Also I think mark played chuchel for the visuals as well XD
Same. When I saw this I was like "CHUCHEL!"
bro wth happened to chuchel lol
the people that made chuchel made a couple other amazing point n click games. you should check em out
@@blobfish2611 i love botanicula alot :D
@@blobfish2611 machinarium is the best :)
The kid: gets eaten

Me: it’s the vore of 21 actually

This isnt the fnaf 4 video
@@aaawazaashhhhh… its fnah (five nights at happy)
@@Void._.empire. why did i realize two months later after seeing my reply that i didnt get the joke 😭
My face matched Mark's almost the entire time, except when I laughed at a moment like, say, 18:03 when he says "eh, put that back."
18:48 that melody is actually fire tho
Been looking forward to see you play this one. Your reactions to "unique" games of any type always were my favorite.
**worriedly** “Oooooah h-hheeeyyyy”
That's why it's worth to watch him play games you already saw others play that
Mark: "If it wasn't clear, pay attention to the epilepsy warning at the beginning of the video"
Me: An epileptic
Are you doing ok- this was a month ago and I’m worried about ya! D:
@@strawberrimax5410 Ha ha 😂 yeah, I'm fine thanks!😊
I know it's an old video though
Yeah, I just ended up listening to it for the most part haha

OH- UH- YOU GOOD HOMIE?!
Mark: this is called “Happy Game”
The Game: *you fuckin better be*
Edit: I didn’t expect anyone else to find that funny thanks guys
I was eating food and watching this video when I felt my cat to my right. I looked over to see her trying to get my food, so I laughed and said "hi kitty!" and right after that Mark said it too and it was weird, at 1:55
