Propranolol is the best thing to happen to me. If you get that flight or flight feeling when public speaking or just with certain interactions in general, propranolol deletes all the physical symptoms.

it deletes the panic attack level symptoms such as fast heart rate and shaking etc, for stuff like stomach ache/insomnia/joint aches it really doesnt do much

I have some degree of Tourettes Syndrome and panic attacks/disorder and this drug has helped immensely. My ticks have been reduced by about 90%, and I haven't had any panic issues since I started taking the 10 mg dosage daily. I'm also much more comfortable in social settings and no longer feel an overwhelming sense of social anxiety. It can still be present at times but it is greatly reduced.

i'm a new dealer at a casino, specifically craps, and this medicine has been a lifesaver for me. The game I deal has an aspect of public speaking to it with the stick calls and there has been a lot of times where I panic and my mind goes completely blank or get nervous to the point of sweating and shaking and this pill has completely stopped all of that, which makes my performance 10x better due to not feeling these anxiety symptoms. Before this, I was on benzos like Xanax which would make me feel tired and this doesn't do that for me. I just keep some in my pocket for whenever I need it, and just knowing it's there puts my mind at ease even if I don't take it.
Thank you for your excellent presentation - accurate info presented in an enthusiastic manner. It is a shame beta-blockers are so underused for performance anxiety. I was a full-time professional musician for 10 years, then an NP for close to 30 years, and in my experience the effective dosage can vary a lot between individuals. My one piece of advice in addition to what is given here would be to, if possible, avoid taking a beta-blocker for the first time just prior to the big event, and instead, experiment during stressful events the few weeks before while adjusting the dosage to the optimal level. If you are a grad student, lawyer or concert violinist, you don’t want to find out during your presentation or solo that the dose you are taking is way too low (you’re still anxious), too high (half asleep and dizzy, (though probably not ever at 10mg)), or even allergic to it ( very rare but possible). Try things out before the big day and you’ll feel more confident and ready to conquer the world!
I work in a metabolism lab, we discovered that electrolytes often help as well, in many cases it is a mineral deficiency as well because magnesium and potassium directly lower blood pressure, these minerals have a positive effect on the parasympathetic nervous system. I would first try this and training for public speaking before you take proponolol which comes with side effects.

Been on propanolol for about three years used to twitch and hands would shake while we had our work staff meetings this medication helped eliminate all physical syptoms of anxiety the racing thoughts are still there its just your body is relaxed it has helped tremendously and is pretty safe in small doses i only take 10 mg and take it as needed

I have essential tremor, very mild because I'm only 40, but my grandmother had it bad. I have social anxiety and performance anxiety, which causes me to shake and also get a stiff feeling in my neck. I have high blood pressure when I go to the doctor, but not at home. I possibly have the visual symptoms of migraine (similar to stroke/TIA, but they find nothing on MRI). It seems like this drug would be a godsend....

It does bring my heart rate down, but my heart is pounding. I’m Prescribed to take this three times a day if my heart rate is over 80 bpm, but one pill will keep my heart rate under a pounding 70 bpm for at least 24 hours. would this be considered an allergic reaction for is it like this for everyone until you adjust?

I hate propranolol too. It made me feel like I was on a heavy anti depressant, and I don’t like anti depressants. In fact the feeling I got on propranolol creeped me out. I went back to metoprolol instead.

It doesn’t work like a benzo or sedative . You really shouldn’t notice anything aside from it blocking your body from having a full on panic attack. That’s about it. I never understood why it’s used for generalized anxiety but for public speaking and panic it has been a lifesaver and the best medication I’ve ever taken . Prior to propanolol I struggle to even read out loud , now I can give entire demonstrations in front of my peers and I know a lot of people who have had the same response also. Sorry it didn’t work for you :/

It works for stage freight, but makes me have to number 2 the next day with some stomach pain. Thank god I don’t take it everyday

It will lower your heart rate. If your heart is beating out of your chest due to anxiety on a plane, this may be a great choice for you.

Get a selective beta blocker. Some of them do not interact with the respiratory system.
