I'm japanese. Japanese PC stores sell new CPU coolers left over from assembling BTO PCs. However, because of the costs involved in dealing with warranties and other issues to sell them as legitimate products, they are not sold as legitimate products, but are sold cheaply as junk and disposed of. It also means that Japanese PC stores have limited space and want to dispose of surplus products like CPU coolers by selling them at low prices.
Bryans video also shows how safe it actually is in Japan. Try walking around in many Capital City's of the world with the merch he was lugging around. His watch, shoes, and those spiffy sunglasses also. He would be lucky to get back home with just the shirt on his back perhaps. Hahaha!
Just got out of Janpara and found a 4070 12gb for $505. I think this is a good buy, saved more than $100 from my home country and it is a significant upgrade for my rx580 8gb. I was tempted to buy 4070ti for $640 but it was already out of my budget and it is too big for my case hehehe. Thanks, mate!
Nice haul of parts. Here in NZ used PC parts have recently headed into crazy price territory. I'm seeing used rtx 3070's going between $315 - $415USD which is between $550 and $750 New Zealand dollars. Prices are crazy for everything. I use i7 4790 CPUs for a lot of builds and they are starting to go for $125-$250 NZD which is insane. It doesn't look like prices are gonna get better anytime soon either.
I totally agree with Bryan's take on the new Ryzen release with the lower power rating for the new ones it's an upgrade. disregarding the price of course it's a new release why are so many reviews are complaining? Good on you for actually replacing that GPU fan. The faulty fan will still completely die eventually even at a lower RPM, and an undervolt can be easily reset in a number of ways unintentionally by a future buyer. prices are a bit lower in Canada. RX 6700XT - 12 gb ($300.) / RTX 4070 Super ($650.). Some higher end cards are still pricey, but the 30 series is falling.
In Poland used parts are good in ultra budget - midrange segment 1660, 20** 5700xt, 3070 or 3080 deals are good but supply is low. CPUs are only good in ultra budget segment like B350 - B450 with ryzen 5 1600 to ryzen 7 2700. You can find ok deals on monitors too. But can't find good deals for PC build with my 3070 for 225$. Curious if you think gpu prices are going up because the RTX 5000 series is supposedly coming out next year instead of this Fall.? Otherwise, solid pickups. Love the Ryzen 7 1700 pickups and the RTX 3000 cards.
I have that 4080 (non super). It looks really nice, but the only problem is that the idle voltage is very high at 0.935V, resulting in a high idle power at around 35 to 40w. But otherwise no complain. I got that for around 920US 7 months ago too, second hand ofc
You should stock on those Wraith Prism, they are new and have the rgb bling for 10 bucks its a steal. Since eco-mode is the way to go with 7000, you can cool pretty much any amd cpu in a gaming pc, from 1000 series to a stock 7800x3d. I would also be interested to know how you get all your Japanese purchases to Australia, do you pack all of them in a extra suit case, do you ship it, is there alot of paperwork, customs fee's, time, is it safe and so on.
Yes man said he ships them back to Australia. it must be cheaper and slightly slower. i think AliExpress does something similar but it's takes 3+ weeks to arrive.
Would be interested to hear how you get all your Japanese purchases back to Australia, e.g. do you have to take them to a large post office or can you get them picked up or take them to a local drop-off point? Is there a lot of paperwork to do? Do you have to pay tax and customs fees to get them into Australia etc.
that was sure a good haul. for the 3060 with the bad fan i would just remove the fans and deshroud it and just slap 2 120 fans on it for my personal use . cheap gpu and free fix
Nvidia recently announced they were ending production of the RTX 3060. Maybe that's pushed used budget cards up a bit. ... I think because they need to start shifting 4060 stock. Motherboards likely getting cheap because older boards will support Windows 10 for only fourteen months more. Unless you're prepared to pay for extended security updates from Microsoft. RE: the mic, it's kind of nice having a bit of background noise. It's a chance to see and hear Japan, and partly why I clicked this video. Wasn't really wanting to watch a parts hunt, but I figured a chance to see bits of Japan. Makes part hunt tour into something new.
You can't have a debt based fiat currency without inflation. Must always print MOAR!! Nice report. Been doing a similar hustle in the US midwest on a smaller scale for years. GPUs are always the X factor.
Dang, I should have got you to get me a cpu and m/board while you are over there. I am doing a new build on my pc and spent ages looking all over the internet for a suitable m/board and cpu, trying to get a good deal and throw in a bit of future proofing is tough. I have settled on a used Gigabyte B650 gaming x ax am5 board and a Ryzen 9 7900x from Ebay, it was the cheapest place I could find. Now just need to find suitable memory and ssd.
In Japan I have many banking accounts. They always frown on killing the account. Best to just ask them to leave Jpy 5,000 in the account, and transfer the rest.
You braved August! Congratulations for not being keeling over (though July seemed hotter). Did you leave any Nvidia stuff in Tskumo after that? I nipped to Akiba during Obon and, no idea when this was recorded, but yeah the Nvidia stuff was a going up a little. If you want value, it seems to be increasingly AMD or (no idea about the drivers) Intel now. There have been more and more Intel cards appearing in the Junk Paras recently, and 6600s are going for about 21-24k yen mostly. If you are flipping systems though I can understand the need to stick with the Geforce cards. I certainly get the finance woes with Japan. I used to be able to send money back and forth to the UK without many issues, but now it is a pain. Granted I have a residence card, but finances and the money sector feels really behind in Japan compared to Europe.
hey mate, the boards and the 3070 killed me... rly good deals.... but 150 bucks for 3050... i dont know.... here in germany, the 3050 8gb goes for 150 euros and i dont want to pay so much for this card, sometimes u can get a 2060 super for 120-130 bucks around and i would go with that instead. my customers always come with that... i want 200+ fos on fortnite, cod etc. and they dont care about the hardware and the other fraction is that "can u build something for amount x with an 4070" type of customers. its hard to find a ballance in between spcial wenn i wanted to prebuild and sell something. ive bought also 1700x for 25 euros and b450 boards for around 40 bucks and paired it with 2060 and nobody wanted to buy it. asked 300 euro for that with 1tb ssd and 500w straight power 11 from be quiet in the classic montech air case with rgb fans... its hanging around 2 months so i startet to drop prices and got 270 euros and make no money at all out of that. but performancewise... this combo is a rly solid combo for light gaming and indeed some workloads. i would love to can offer r5 5600 with rtx 3060 for 350 bucks... but its not possible. i still hope the next gen of cards came in with a "better" price and more performance that we can get better used deals on the 3060 or 3060 ti. i also bought a 3060 8gb card for 150 bucks and its an okay deal, i would buy it for 150 over the 3050 all day long
GPU price spike might have been a reset of some sort. Here in Canada on the new market the ASRock RX 6600 has been the #1 best selling card since Christ was a cowboy at $260 cad ($190 US) but for a week it spiked to $320 Cad. Then it went back down. No logic to why it went up or down. On the top side, my Pulse edition 7900XTX has gone down $60 Cad since I bought mine a year ago. $60 on a $1500 after tax purchase so they aren't really moving in price. I don't pay attention to Used here in Canada. Online it's all US conversion and shipping destroys any savings. Brick and mortar is horrible due to high leases. They are up the creek here. Your 4080 Super is close to new price here. There are refurbished deals all the time around the same price and that's just a fancy word for used now. I don't know if they think calling it refurbished changes it somehow. I don't pretend to understand buzz word marketing. It's a corny little gimmick we have always had to deal with. On that note, your outro. 9000 so far is what it is. It's just hard to upsell with buzz words. They are no nonsense chips and in time they will become the 7000 options. You could say the same thing about the 6600. It was trash at launch. Now it aint.
I don't trust those Ali Express motherboards. Most reviews I've seen have been negative. It will be interesting to see what your testing reveals if you buy the latest models.
That 4080 super looks sick Im with you on that. Did you end up taking that $1000 out of that Japanese bank and closing the account down? Since they wouldn't let you send it back to Australia. I would have just taken it all out in cash and paid for the parts with the cash.

i went in the same stores in obon holliday and was no lucky, just got a brand new a750 for 30000 .Finally upgrading my old 1060
Here in Sweden I can see that used graphic cards is about 10% more expensive compared with spring.
Tech YES sunglasses approved.
never thought i'd be so early to an upload
Curious if you think gpu prices are going up because the RTX 5000 series is supposedly coming out next year instead of this Fall.? Otherwise, solid pickups. Love the Ryzen 7 1700 pickups and the RTX 3000 cards.
I have that 4080 (non super). It looks really nice, but the only problem is that the idle voltage is very high at 0.935V, resulting in a high idle power at around 35 to 40w. But otherwise no complain. I got that for around 920US 7 months ago too, second hand ofc
Start looking at the ARC A350 and A750. My Arc A770 outperforms my older 2070 on everything, at less than the going price for 2070s.
Yuuuup GPU prices are creeping up again here in the States, with some rare exceptions.
Wow no clue about Australian prices but other than that 3080 those prices are higher than I'm paying in the US. I do dig the look of that 4080 tho.
Did you steal Macho Man's glasses?
It's crazy to me how much people like 3070s, I would much rather take a 2080ti, or spend a tiny bit more and get a 3080
You can't have a debt based fiat currency without inflation. Must always print MOAR!! Nice report. Been doing a similar hustle in the US midwest on a smaller scale for years. GPUs are always the X factor.
something wrong with asrock am4 board like half of them i got had broken audio also low end ones with shorted audio becomes completely unusable
avoid the brand, buy something else
@@betag24cn fr no more buying aerocool and asrock😁
Dang, I should have got you to get me a cpu and m/board while you are over there. I am doing a new build on my pc and spent ages looking all over the internet for a suitable m/board and cpu, trying to get a good deal and throw in a bit of future proofing is tough. I have settled on a used Gigabyte B650 gaming x ax am5 board and a Ryzen 9 7900x from Ebay, it was the cheapest place I could find. Now just need to find suitable memory and ssd.
Have you been to Hong Kong? The used market is not great but you can easily find brand new 4080 supers for 960USD.
Love the music around 4min.
Liek modern c64 sounds
In Japan I have many banking accounts. They always frown on killing the account. Best to just ask them to leave Jpy 5,000 in the account, and transfer the rest.
There we go. The good shit.
There is definitely still heaps there! Oh so you have felt the pain too with xferring money?
hey mate, the boards and the 3070 killed me... rly good deals.... but 150 bucks for 3050... i dont know.... here in germany, the 3050 8gb goes for 150 euros and i dont want to pay so much for this card, sometimes u can get a 2060 super for 120-130 bucks around and i would go with that instead. my customers always come with that... i want 200+ fos on fortnite, cod etc. and they dont care about the hardware and the other fraction is that "can u build something for amount x with an 4070" type of customers. its hard to find a ballance in between spcial wenn i wanted to prebuild and sell something. ive bought also 1700x for 25 euros and b450 boards for around 40 bucks and paired it with 2060 and nobody wanted to buy it. asked 300 euro for that with 1tb ssd and 500w straight power 11 from be quiet in the classic montech air case with rgb fans... its hanging around 2 months so i startet to drop prices and got 270 euros and make no money at all out of that. but performancewise... this combo is a rly solid combo for light gaming and indeed some workloads.
i would love to can offer r5 5600 with rtx 3060 for 350 bucks... but its not possible. i still hope the next gen of cards came in with a "better" price and more performance that we can get better used deals on the 3060 or 3060 ti. i also bought a 3060 8gb card for 150 bucks and its an okay deal, i would buy it for 150 over the 3050 all day long
Ha ha the sigh when talking about the 4080 says it all 😂
When will you go to Kansai (Kyoto or Osaka) or Fukuoka to hunt pc parts there?
make sure u pay attention to those 'new' 3050s, they have 4gb not 6gb of ram, and its slower and less computes
Now it aint.
the best cheap pc parts are from the states, never found a cheap gpu on ali etc. only the xeon sets are good priced
that 4080 is insane
I don't trust those Ali Express motherboards. Most reviews I've seen have been negative. It will be interesting to see what your testing reveals if you buy the latest models.
Here in Perth used GPUs are quite pricy. 1660S going for anything between 150 and 250 Aussie dollaridoos.
Seems like the market been going down here lately, 3070s are $175-200 on Facebook and 3080s are 300.. wondering if i should buy lol
I dunno if somebody else did ask you before. Aren't you paying a gazillion AU$ to customs in AU for importing in your country?
Do you have to pay import duty on this type of stuff?
Tech YES City, You're so cool! Let's be friends and have fun!
This mic sounds better than the other one
Can we get the prices in AUD aswell for the aussies?
That 4080 super looks sick Im with you on that. Did you end up taking that $1000 out of that Japanese bank and closing the account down? Since they wouldn't let you send it back to Australia. I would have just taken it all out in cash and paid for the parts with the cash.
Do you ever see CRT monitors for sale in your travels?
Are you still using GD900 thermal paste or have you found something else ?
that mic sound good Bryan the other was not that good so stick to what you know and use I hyave seen Gpu and Cpu sold on Temu cheep low end ones for sale there and free delivery if you buy so much
Oh no, someone got crumbz from their happy meal inside of the audio port ? LoL ;)
