    Good video man. Not haveing viewed the terminals in a while, being able to view them here in more detail along with your indications as to who's dialogueing has given me a bit more understanding as to certain parts of the lore. Like onyx for instance. Onyx was going to be a place where the forerunners and the indexed species would spend their time during and following the events of the fireing. That onyx was actually created to keep the forerunners alive, not just them aimlessly sacrificing themselves. It also shows the working of the logic plague. It's not some type of computer virus that infects machines. Its shows the flood basically mind humping mendecant bias. But the main thing I gained from the logs is more involving speculation as to how the rings worked - with relation to onyx.
    The prevailing theory is that the rings never killed the flood, only their food. I believe this is not true, well at least not in the traditional sense. I'll try and explain. When the rings fire, their simultaneous effect - the overlapping amplitude that's talked about, happens on two levels, or has a two step process. So the first. Think sentience, think the reason the flood need sentient organisms to thrive, and how they are then able to access the domain. Think of the neurophysiological aspects of the precursors, and their hunger to help nurture sentience. Think of the creation of the domain itself, and "where it sits" in the universe itself, and how the fireing affected it. Think of living time, and the universal conciousness theory that underlies that. What if the part of the rings fireing that killed the flood and all sentient life capable of making the flood a threat, did so on a neurological level, yet one carried out with the knowledge that sentient synaptic activity on a quantum scale is intertwined at some level to this wider conciousness field. And when activated, every sentient organism the rings were tuned to target within their kill radius was killed almost instantly, neurologically. And the second wave is the radiation that travels across the galaxy at light speed, and relies on the amplifying effect that the rings placements creates to ensure that the rest of the flood, like the biomass, spores and other non infection types and all other life is eradicated. So think the animation of the energy wave in the halo terminals. This would in theory help explain the time period from fireing, to the present day. The milky way is about 100 thousand light years across. And it's been over 100 thousand years since the rings were fired. That would give the light speed effect of the rings time to do its cleansing job, and for the indexes to be re seeded throughout the galaxy, and for the re seeded species advancement. This would also explain why so much effort was put into onyx. They would have been there a while. Just a thought, any way good video man.

    • @-MendicantBias
      @-MendicantBias 4 года назад +1

      Pretty interesting. This obviously means that, if the Flood are the Precursor’s neurophysical remains, the Halo effect would kill them as well, right?

    • @nihilityjoey
      @nihilityjoey 4 года назад +2

      @@-MendicantBias essentially yes. If you've ever watched stargate universe, the ancients created a device that allowed for almost instantaneous transition of consciousness over vast universal distances. What I'm suggesting is that in the halo universe consciousness is very important as well, and that maybe when species get to to a certain stage in evolution they are "connected" somehow at this level, a dimension or able to interact with this universal time. The further the evolution, the more the interation/connection. And that the rings were created utilising the forerunners limited knowledge of neural physics. I have my own theories as to the flood and how it came to be.

    • @-MendicantBias
      @-MendicantBias 4 года назад

      I totally agree with you about the conciousness stuff. Even the “Living time” itself seems to be concious in some way. Halo lore is way too complex.

    • @simcity356
      @simcity356 4 года назад +1

      I've always assumed the Composer killing humans in Halo 4 was a depiction of how the rings worked

    • @nihilityjoey
      @nihilityjoey 4 года назад +1

      @@simcity356 They do both use the understanding of neural physics to work, just in different ways. The composer targets the nervous system like the rings do but the way the body is broken down is a product of the composer and its function. The composer is basically digitizing the biology of an organism, extracting the nerual information and leaving the rest which is what the librarian was wading her hand through, reminant digitized biological waste. However the rings were not created to extract neural information, but too destroy it. They didn't need to employ the technology the same way.
      The way I'm figuring it is this. Sentient beings and their brain activity must have some form of interaction with this living time somehow. The forerunners figured out through neural physics how to target sentient beings galaxy wide through these interactions, that these interactions actually leave behind certain interaction signatures - brain prints if you will. The forerunners then tuned the rings to not only target sentient beings at a neural level in another dimension, where the effect would be almost instantaneous - kind of like every sentient organisms brain and nervous systems frying. While at the same time the rings would send out another finely tuned burst, this time of some form of radiation moving at near light speed. This burst of radiation would be akin to the weapon the elite used in halo nightfall that targeted only humans. Only the rings were tuned much more specifically by the forerunners as to which organism the radiation would target and be able to induce rapid cellular breakdown. This would also explain why the rings were big, and why they were placed where they were. The rings drew power from whatever powersouce they were using, and converting it to this radiation. The preceding firing would have to produce more energy than the output than many supernovae, producing huge electromagnetic fields, that when overlapped would help the high energy burst travel through space and the atmosphere of planets, ensuring complete galactic coverage. That's just my take on it.
      The other version is a big blast of energy, traveling at light speed across the galaxy, taking atleast 25,000 years to complete its work. Which, while not an unrealistic senario, is one full of holes.

    One question I always had: Are the elites in Halo 2 and 3 actually speaking English to Johnson, Chief, and Lord Hood? Or is that translation software in each person’s neural implants like something from Mass Effect or Star Trek?
    I also always wondered if, like in Star Trek, all the humans we see are speaking different languages and it’s getting translated or if the UNSC actually chose English as the main human language.

    • @tTaseric
      @tTaseric 2 года назад +6

      It's all translated, although there are some examples where this isn't the case.
      English is the main language of the UNSC probably due to the fact that the current major military power on Earth is the US, and the UNSC are most likely an American-based organisation. At least originally.
      However, some places aren't. For example, Reach was first settled by Hungarians so that's their primary language I believe.
