Whenever you find a skull from what I gather... in order to use it you must bring it with you to the end of the mission. Afterwards youll get its modifier as an option as a possible "mutation." The thunderstorm skull basically causes enemies like Brute Chieftains to show up far more often which can be a mixed blessing in a sense that sure, youll be encountering those with the most health more often, but youll also see the rarer weapons from them spawn more frequently too.
THAT METHOD FOR SANDBOX -- WIsh I knew of this back in 2007 lmao. Spent hours trying to build tunnels and walls to block the guardians. But hey, I still managed to get it lol

I just spent like 40 attempts to get the Cowbell skull, just to realize that there's no actual achievement for picking up that specific skull on Xbox 360. YAY ME!!!
The best way to get the acrophobia skull is to constantly play the part of crows nest where there's a drone swarm. Farm kills for around 5 minutes and you should get it. I used a machine gun turret so I can just spray them quickly then throw a grenade and die and do it all again.
Halo Canon, you should totally put your gamertag in your video descriptions, would love to run a Legendary complete run through all the games with you. I could listen to you tell me where everything is and little canon details as we played all day long.
2021 Xbox360 user here, tried it multiple times without the rings blinking. Roughly an hour or so afking back and forth trying to figure out what was going on, I decided to revert back to my latest save (did that in numerous occasions as well) and on my last attempt the rings began blinking as expected. I assume it’s due to the extremely old Halo3 disc simply bugging out. You just gotta be patient/lucky. Hopefully this helps out the older console players trying to get the achievements (copying an pasting this to the vids I followed to get the ring skull)
IWHBYD isn’t working for me. Is there something I’m missing? I’m playing on Heroic, does it need to be legendary? Do I have to jump through the rings in a certain direction? Or is my game just broken? Edit: I just got it. Went through the rings facing the same direction every time. Towards the light bridge
You missed one on cortana were a 14 skull was on the original version of halo 3. It didn't give you anything except if you took it to the end of the level then when you spawn in the beginning of the final level you have special weapons like a Spartan laser or gravity hammer or rocket launcher I can't remember. Sadly this 14th skull is not on mcc.
Another way to obtain the Sandbox Skull is to: 1) Spawn an Elephant. 2) Place a teleporter in the bottom front part of the elephant (in that little space underneath the driver seat) 3) Drive the elephant over to where the skull is (the Guardians can't kill you while your driving!) 4) Line up the elephant so that when you exit the teleporter you can just grab the skull 6) Immediately die as soon as you stop driving ("They stopped driving! Everyone get'em!" - The Guardians probably) 7) Respawn then spawn another teleporter 8) Head through the teleporter and grab the skull! 9) Profit!

I'm following it along right now, though I've picked up the Grunt Birthday Party skull twice (reverted back to last save and retrieved it once more after the achievement didn't unlock) and got no achievement for it. I'm so glad this game is so old, lol. I looked it up and it said this particular skull isn't a gold one, so an achievement doesn't unlock for it, but picking it up still goes towards the armor. Gotta love those old 2007 forums. Other silver skulls in this guide are: The Blind, Cow Bell, and I Would Have Been Your Daddy. No achievements for those. I love playing a game like this and still finding out new things about it.

The sandskull method didn't work the missiles kept glitching into the structure and killing me instantly I placed and I've tried every possible method to get this skull and it's impossible for me to get it
Not sure but I noticed on mcc pc version playing halo 3 It took like 5-10 legit seconds to even register the achievements for the first 4 skulls in the game ,so who knows maybe glitched or something

You forgot about the secret skull on cortana that gives you a Spartan laser in the next mission If you carry it to the end.
Apparently it's bugged on the MCC: it spawns in the level just above the surface, falls, and rolls down into a bottomless pit.

I did the ring jumping in proper order twice and nothing happened no light up or skull spawning.
